<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

PACKAGING FOR CONCENTRATED EGG PRODUCTS.
The present invention relates to an airtight packaging suitable for concentrated egg products of pasty consistency and in the form of a flexible bag.
There have been described in European patent 51,757 (LIOT) concentrated egg products as well as their preparation process. These products which are pasty in consistency with high concentration include the whole egg or only egg white or egg yolk with salt and / or sugar added. They may also contain other food ingredients or flavorings. The products are prepared by an original process which ensures excellent preservation and texture properties for the products obtained. For the use of these products, for example for the preparation of culinary preparations such as potatoes, sauces, soufflés, puff pastry, omelettes, etc. a certain amount of water should be added to the pasty products and a suitable mixture should be made to homogenize the whole.
Until now, the packaging of these concentrated egg products with a pasty consistency has been done in a conventional manner in
EMI1.1
rigid packaging, for example in metal boots. At the CD 1 time of use, a certain determined quantity of the product is then poured into a suitable container to which the volume of water necessary for obtaining the reconstituted egg product is mixed for culinary use.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
However, these conditions have not been entirely satisfactory in practice. Indeed it is understood that it is necessary to transfer the product to a container allowing mixing. This results in a loss of part of the concentrated product which cannot be used. In addition, there are sometimes homogenization difficulties during mixing and variations in the quality of the final product due to a certain imprecision in the volume of water used for dilution. These problems arise in particular in the case where the concentrated egg product must be packaged in individual packaging intended for general public use.
In this case, in fact, the user who is not a specialist has difficulty in dosing the mixing water properly and therefore does not obtain a perfectly reproducible and satisfactory result.
The object of the invention is to solve these problems and to define a packaging which allows the user, in particular in the case of an individual packaging containing a small amount of concentrated product, to carry out a precise mixing thus ensuring perfect reproducibility of the result using the entire product contained in the packaging.
The subject of the invention is also such packaging which allows the dilution of the product to vary in determined proportions according to the final taste desired by the user.
The invention also relates to a packaging capable of containing the product after mixing and which can be easily moved and handled without risk of overflowing.
The airtight packaging according to the invention is suitable for concentrated egg products of pasty consistency based on whole egg, egg white or egg yolk additionally comprising salt and / or sugar and may contain other ingredients or food flavors, the product must be added with water before use. The packaging according to the invention is in the form of a flexible pocket comprising a bottom on which the packaging can stand upright and closable lips at the top. According to the invention, the packaging comprises at least one translucent portion and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
has graduations extending above the product level.
The total volume of the packaging is chosen so that it can contain the final preparation after mixing an appropriate quantity of water with the product.
In an advantageous embodiment, the packaging comprises a first scale provided with different levels to facilitate the homogenization of the mixture by progressive addition of water to the packaging.
The packaging preferably includes a second scale provided with different levels to determine the final volume of the preparation according to the taste desired by the user.
The packaging preferably comprises a bottom formed by a cylindrical portion reinforced by a rigid annular element allowing the packaging to stand upright.
The invention will be better understood on studying the detailed description of a non-limiting example of packaging according to the invention illustrated by the appended drawing.
In the single figure of the drawing, there is shown a
EMI3.1
packaging according to the invention. The packaging as a whole is in the form of a flexible pocket 1 produced by welding along two vertical edges 2 of two thin flexible sheets 3 and 4.
Each of these sheets 3, 4 may advantageously be formed by laminating several thicknesses comprising an aluminum layer, an internal layer of plastic material such as high density polyethylene and an external layer of plastic material such as high density polyethylene. For more details, reference may be made for example to French patent 2,311,730 (SCAL) which describes a semi-rigid packaging of this type. The bottom of the pocket is welded along line 5 to the two sheets 3 and 4 thus ensuring a perfect seal. The approximately triangular annular zone located between the cylindrical upper part of the packaging and the frustoconical bottom is referenced 6.
This annular zone is advantageously stiffened for example by means of ribs obtained by stamping or even by the introduction of an intermediate layer of thermoplastic foam. In this way, the whole of
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the packaging can stand upright as illustrated in the figure and the solidity of the connection between the bottom and the two sheets 3 and 4 is
EMI4.1
found increased.
We also see in the figure the level of concentrated egg product 7 which fills a little less than half the capacity of the package. It will be understood that after filling, the upper lips 8 of the sheets 3 and 4 are closed and sealed so as to ensure the preservation of the product in the packaging.
The sheet 4 located forward in the figure, has a translucent window 9 of generally rectangular shape, elongated vertically. On one of the sides of window 9 there are two graduations. The lower graduation 10 defines in the illustrated example three levels or marks 11, 12 and 13. The second graduation or upper graduation 14 also defines three levels or marks 15, 16 and 17. Each of the marks of this graduation s' extends horizontally on the sheet 4 while being visible outside and up to the edge of the window 9.
When the user wants to use the concentrated egg product inside the packaging, he first opens the upper part of the packaging by tearing or cutting the solder from the upper edge 8. It can then pour through the opening orifice 18 thus formed according to arrow 19, water inside the pocket 1 kept upright on its rigid bottom. The dilution water is filled up to the first mark 11 of the lower graduation 10. The user is then invited to mix the water thus added properly with the pasty product 7 located in the bag 1.
We understand that during this operation which can be done for example with a wooden spoon or fork, all the egg product is effectively mixed with the dilution water without any loss, this mixing being done directly in packaging. After suitable homogenization, the user can continue the dilution operation by adding water up to the level of the second mark 12. He then agitates the mixture until perfect homogenization before recommencing the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
same operations up to mark 13 of lower graduation 10.
The final mixture which allows, by an additional addition of dilution water, to obtain the product directly usable for a culinary preparation, requires the addition of water up to the level of one of the marks of the upper graduation 14 then stirring to homogenize the whole.
The packaging containing the product after mixing can remain upright thanks to the shape of its bottom and can be moved and handled easily without risk of overflowing.
Thanks to these successive additions of liquid, it becomes possible to obtain a perfectly homogenized product and to use the entire product contained in the packaging. The user is guided in these operations in a precise manner thanks to the existence of the graduations 10 and 14 in combination with the translucent window 9 which allows him to control with precision the dosage of the dilution water.
Depending on whether the user wishes to obtain a product having an accentuated taste or, on the contrary, finer, he will use one or the other of the three marks 15, 16, and 17 of the upper graduation 14. Thus, for example, in the case of a sweet egg product, the use of the lower mark 15 will make it possible to obtain a very sweet culinary preparation. On the contrary, the use of the upper mark 17 will make it possible to obtain a final sweet mins. In the same way the taste of the culinary preparation can be varied precisely by the user thanks to the existence of different brands of the upper graduation 14 in the case where the product contains food flavors other than sugar.
Once the preparation thus diluted and perfectly homogenized directly in the flexible bag 1, it is easy for the user to pour the mixture directly into the mold or the pan for cooking the preparation alone or as a mixture with other ingredients. The invention will have made it possible to carry out a precise and perfect mixing of the product with the dilution water, to use the entire product in the packaging and finally to vary the taste of the final product in a precise and reproducible manner. .
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Thanks to the packaging according to the invention, it therefore becomes possible for the user to implement in a simple manner and without any additional measurement or weighing, a concentrated egg product of pasty consistency previously stored in a sealed packaging.
