Abstract
Method for producing a mounting plate for use as an advertising sign and the like, bearing a design of letters and / or numbers in a color contrasting with the remaining part of the plate, the latter being illuminated by UV light. The plate (1) is, at least in the region where the design is to appear, provided with a self-adhesive colored film (2), after which grooves forming the outline of the design are engraved in the film (2) and the plate (1) itself; the colored film (2) located outside the formed patterns is removed, and a fluorescent plastic (4) is placed in the grooves.
Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Method for producing a mounting plate The invention relates to a method for producing what is known as a mounting plate to be used for an advertising sign and the like, intended to present a design of letters and / or numbers of a contrasting color compared to that of the remaining part of the plate

mounting, the outline of which is made of fluorescent plastic.
Advertising panels are already known comprising a design produced by a self-adhesive colored film transferred to the plate using a masking tape, the design being applied to the plate after removal of an underlying wax paper. The transfer tape is removed and the design then adheres directly to the plate. The lighting of the drawing is done either directly, from the front, in the case of non-transparent plates, or by the back in the case of transparent plates.
The aforementioned technique, which includes, among other things, cutting the design in a separate location with subsequent transfer to a plate, etc., requires various operations which are time consuming. Correct application of the design on the plate more often requires a high degree of precision, which can be problematic.
The invention essentially differs from the known technique, as described above, and the only common factor is in fact that a self-adhesive film is used in both cases to form the design to be mounted on the advertising sign / mounting plate. An immediate aim of the invention was therefore not to eliminate the drawbacks of the known technique, but the invention resulted, rather unintentionally, in a method of mounting a design on the plate, which is much simpler than before.
The invention relates to a method for producing a mounting plate for use in an advertising sign and the like, which plate is provided with a design of letters and / or numbers in a color contrasting with the rest of the mounting plate, the latter being illuminated over its entire surface by UV light. The process is essentially characterized by the fact that the mounting plate is, at least in the area where the drawing is to appear, covered with a colored self-adhesive film, after which grooves forming the outline of the drawing are engraved according to the drawing. desired in the film and the surface of the mounting plate itself, the colored film located at

the outside of the formed patterns then being removed, and a fluorescent plastic material is placed in the grooves.
Other characteristics of the process will appear from the appended claims.
The invention is disclosed below in more detail with reference to an embodiment given by way of example, in conjunction with the drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a mounting plate 1 provided on one face with a self-adhesive colored film 2,
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the plate of FIG. 1, but with grooves 3 etched, forming the outline of a drawing, and
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the plate according to Figure 2, but in which the parts of the colored film 2 not belonging to the drawing are removed, and fluorescent tubes 4 of elastic plastic material are placed in the grooves.
