<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
EMI3.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
travail.
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
Quand
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

DESCRIPTION Digging shield, especially for digging with a felling front shielded by the pressure of the ground, including an endless conveyor screw for the evacuation of earth.
The invention relates to a digging shield, in particular for digging with a felling front shielded by the pressure of the ground, comprising a partition wall disposed in the shield, a cutting wheel or the like mounted in the felling chamber and at the front of the partition wall, and an endless screw passing through the partition wall and intended for the transport of earth.
Shields of this type are known, for example, from the periodical "Strassen-und Tiefbau", 1980, page 18 (in particular figure 19). When it comes to digging work in loose ground, for example formed by gravel, sand or the like, we most often work with a slaughtered front shielded by a liquid, a fresh support liquid being sent continuously in the mass during the digging work carried out by the slaughter chamber closed by a partition vis-à-vis the rear enclosure of the shield, the mixture of liquid and earth being evacuated from the slaughter chamber at l using the land evacuation conveyor.
The shielding of the slaughter front is carried out either by means of a mixture of water and earth, or by means of a suspension such as a bentonite suspension, so that it is formed in the slaughter chamber. a mixture between the suspension and the constituent elements
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the ground, which is largely plastic and only slightly permeable to water. The evacuation of the land takes place by means of a worm.
When it comes to digging a tunnel, it is not uncommon for it to be necessary to cross different formations of terrain. When digging is carried out in soils which are not stable or which are liable to sink, as is especially the case with soils formed by gravel or sand where we work mainly with an armored felling front by the pressure of the ground, the evacuation of the soil mixture from the felling chamber using a worm screw does not pose any difficulties.
But if the working conditions are such that during the crossing of more or less stable or scree soils outside the region of the water table it is possible not to work with a sustained felling front, the evacuation of the land at the using a worm is not possible anyway when this worm does not enter the slaughter chamber by its loading end but ends at the opening in the partition wall.
The object of the invention is to propose a conveyor system intended for transporting the earth in a digging shield allowing adaptation to variable working conditions and to working data which can appear especially when crossing different soils, without that there is a need for long and complicated transformation measures.
According to the invention, the abovementioned object is achieved by the fact that the partition wall is provided with a closable opening intended for the passage of a mobile replacement conveyor constituted in the form of a conveyor belt, of a conveyor AL chalne to squeegees or the like.
The digging shield according to the invention therefore comprises in addition to the fixed worm a mounting capacity of a transportable or displaceable replacement conveyor which is in principle only used when the evacuation of the earth by means of the screw endless is not possible or is inappropriate. This possibility of mounting the replacement conveyor is realized by placing in the separation wall which closes the slaughter chamber a particular opening.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
by which the transportable or detachable replacement conveyor can be introduced into the slaughter chamber by its loading end if necessary.
It will be understood that the opening of
EMI3.1
the partition wall is adapted by its shape and dimensions to the external shape and to the external dimensions of the loading end of the replacement conveyor. When the latter is used, the inlet to the conveyor tube of the worm which is formed in the partition wall can be closed by means of a closing drawer or the like.
If you do not need the replacement conveyor, you can move it out of its working position and bring it to a rest position located behind, which can be in the digging shield which is then fitted with '' a suitable fixing or housing for this replacement conveyor. The opening made in the wall must be capable of being closed by a closing plate or door, or the like. The replacement conveyor can thus be moved as a whole in the longitudinal direction of the digging shield between its rest position and its working position, and vice versa.
The closable opening formed in the wall and intended for the replacement conveyor is advantageously arranged above the entry of the worm formed in the partition wall, preferably at about half the height of the shield. In this position, the loading end of the replacement conveyor which projects into the felling chamber does not hinder the rotation of the cutting wheel even when mixing arms protruding into the felling chamber are mounted on the wheel , as known. The center of the cutting wheel can be achieved by means of a ring with internal toothing located on the outer periphery of the toothed wheel, as is known.
The replacement conveyor can be supported in or directly against the opening of the partition wall. It is then recommended to provide in the digging shield and at a certain distance behind the partition wall another support intended to support the replacement conveyor when it is in its position of
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
job.
Advantageously, the worm is mounted following a soil evacuation conveyor evacuating the earth from the digging shield and preferably taking the form of a conveyor belt, as is known. The arrangement is then provided so that the replacement conveyor also discharges into the earth evacuation conveyor. Advantageously, the discharge end of the replacement conveyor is disposed laterally against the discharge end of the worm.
Thus, the worm screw and the replacement conveyor can be discharged into the fixed conveyor for evacuating the land via a common chute or the like.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment given by way of example and represented in the appended drawing in which: FIG. 1 shows in vertical section a digging shield according to the invention, with a conveyor system for the evacuation of land, Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view along line 11-11 of Figure 1, Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view along line 111-111 of Figure 1 .
In the embodiment shown, the cylindrical digging shield 1 consists of three sections 2, 3 and 4 mounted one after the other and overlapping by their end portions, the front section 2 of the shield being provided with 'a cutting kit 5. The front section 2 of the shield is advanced and pressed by hydraulic presses 6 in the direction of the digging, these presses pressing at the rear by means of a thrust ring 7 against a stop 8. The stop 8 is constituted either by the casing already in place of the tunnel or, as shown, by an internal formwork formed by casing rings when the lining of the tunnel is carried out by means of concrete poured on site.
Between the front section 2 of the shield and its central section 3 are hingedly mounted hydraulic control cylinders 9 with the aid of which one can act on the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
direction of digging. The rear section 4 of the shield is suspended from the central section 3 by means of hydraulic drive cylinders 9 ′, which means that this section 4 can be advanced after the two other shield sections 2 and 3 have been previously advanced by hydraulic thrust.
In the front section 2 of the shield is a partition wall or partition 10 which closes the slaughter chamber 11 vis-à-vis the rear enclosure of the shield. In the felling chamber 11, a felling tool operates in the form of a cutting wheel 12 or the like equipped on its side facing the felling front with felling tools 13.
The mechanism for driving the cutting wheel 12 in rotation is located at the rear of the partition wall 10; it comprises several mechanisms 14 distributed in the peripheral direction, ten in number in FIG. 2, which are connected at the rear to the partition wall 10, or to an annular console supporting the partition wall, and whose pinions driven 15 are engaged with the internal toothing of a ring gear 16 which is firmly connected from the rear to the outer periphery of the cutting wheel 12 by means of spacers 17 passing through the partition wall. It will be understood that the openings in the partition wall which are traversed by the spacers 17 or the like are made watertight.
Digging shields of the type described in the foregoing or of a similar type are known, as well as the felling tools used with these shields and which are in the form of cutting wheels, scraping discs and the like. same as their training mechanisms.
In the digging disc 1 is also fixedly mounted a worm conveyor 18 inclines upwards and backwards, after which is also mounted a land discharge conveyor 19 which is fixed. The latter is constituted for example by a conveyor belt, a conveyor belt raclette or any continuous conveyor. Using the worm 18 a muddy mixture consisting of earth and a liquid is evacuated from the slaughter chamber 11, the liquid being formed either by water from
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
of the ground and / or by the water introduced into the slaughter chamber from the shield enclosure.
In the case of a slaughter front shielded by the pressure of the ground, a suspension and preferably a suspension of water and bentonite are generally introduced as liquid into the slaughter chamber 11, l the water then being discharged during the digging work by the worm 18 by being mixed with the earth. To improve mixing, mixing arms 20 oriented in the direction of the partition wall 10 can be fixed to the rear side of the cutting wheel 12, these arms rotating with the cutting wheel. Other mixing arms 21 can be fixedly mounted on the partition wall 10.
The conveyor tube 22 of the worm 18 ends in the partition wall 10, and therefore does not protrude into the slaughter chamber 11. The inlet 23 of the conveyor tube 22 is therefore located in the partition wall 10 , and in the lower region of the shield according to FIGS. 1 and 2. The inlet 23 can be closed by a closing drawer 24. According to FIG. 2, the closing drawer is made up of two parts. 11 is formed by two drawer plates in the form of segments 25 and 26 which are guided in suitable guiding devices 27 and which are actuated by hydraulic adjustment cylinders 28. The adjustment cylinders 28 are supported on articulations 29 of the section 2 of the shield and cooperate by their piston rods 30 with the associated drawer plates 25 or 26.
During the deployment of the adjustment cylinders 28, the drawer plates 25 and 26 are pushed into their closed position while during the retraction of the adjustment cylinders 28, the drawer plates are retracted. In FIG. 2, the drawer plate 26 is shown in its closed position and the drawer plate 25 in its retracted position for opening the worm screw 18. Thanks to the closure drawer 24, the worm screw 18 can therefore be closed relative to its input 23 when it must be put out of operation.
According to Figure 2, the partition wall 10 comprises above the worm 18 a closable manhole 31 and laterally a passage 32 in the wall, which can also be closed by means of a closure plate , a closing door or the like. When
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
the closing plate or the like is separated, it is possible to bring a short replacement conveyor 33 through its loading end 34 into the slaughter chamber 11, from the rear space of the shield.
The replacement conveyor 33 is advantageously constituted by a band
EMI7.1
conveyor, a scraper chain conveyor or the like. 11 can be moved in the longitudinal direction in the digging shield 1 from a rest position (not shown) to its working position shown in which it passes through the opening 32 of the wall and is located by its end of load 34 inside the slaughter chamber 11.
As shown in FIG. 2, the rectangular opening 32 formed in the wall is adapted by its shape and its dimensions to the external shape and to the external dimensions of the replacement conveyor 33, the width of the opening 32 being substantially equal to the external width of the replacement conveyor 33 at its loading end. The replacement conveyor 33 is therefore supported in the opening 32 formed in the wall, and it is simultaneously guided laterally by this opening.
In the working position shown, the replacement conveyor 33 also unloads in the earth evacuation conveyor 19. In the digging shield and above the loading end of the earth evacuation conveyor 19 is provided a fixing or a support 35 on or in which the replacement conveyor is supported in the shield by its rear unloading end 36.
According to Figure 3, the discharge end 36 is located laterally against the discharge end of the worm 18 which in this case comprises a lower opening 37 provided with a drawer closure 38 (Figure 1). The worm 18 and the replacement conveyor 36 therefore transport the earth or the mixture of earth and liquid via a common transfer chute 39 (FIG. 3) or a transfer funnel, towards the conveyor land evacuation 19.
If one crosses during the digging work formations in which one can carry out work in the room
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
slaughter 11 without support, and in which the earth does not arrive in the form of a sludge which can be evacuated by the worm 18, the fixed worm 18 is then closed at the entrance by closing the drawer 24. The replacement conveyor 33 which is transportable or displaceable is advanced from its rear rest position and pushed by its loading end into the opening 32 of the wall while being supported at the rear by the support d 'support.
In this working position, the earth which eventually forms lumps is removed from the slaughter chamber 11 using the replacement conveyor 33. In the embodiment shown, the replacement conveyor is constituted by a conveyor a squeegee that carries the earth on its upper strand. Inside the felling chamber, the falling earth can be taken up in the sole region by loading arms or loading shovels which can be mounted at the rear on the cutting wheel 12, then reassembled and then unloaded from above onto the loading end 34 of the replacement conveyor 33.
These loading arms or loading shovels are indicated at 40 in FIG. 1, on the outer periphery of the cutting wheel 12 and at the rear.
When not in use, the replacement conveyor 33 is released. withdraws towards the quarry of the opening 32 of the partition wall 10 and returned to its rear rest position. Optionally, there is also the possibility of maintaining the replacement conveyor 33 in the mounting position shown when the transport of the soil is temporarily carried out using the worm screw 18. In this case, it is advantageous for the conveyor replacement 33 is brought back enough by its loading end 34 so that one can close the opening 32 formed in the wall.
In this resting position brought back, and especially when it

these are large diameter shields, the passage section in the shield is not excessively reduced by the replacement conveyor.
