Abstract
A tunnel furnace is described, with preheating chamber and combustion chamber which are separated from one another by a gate, and with a degassing zone, consisting of a gas circulating circuit, heated indirectly by the smoke gases, for degassing the combustible volatile components and a combustion device for the outgassed volatile components. In this connection, the degassing zone is assigned to the preheating chamber (3), the gases being removed from suction openings (5) in the vicinity of the chamber entrance (6) by means of a fan (4) and fed back in again in front of the gate (2) to the combustion chamber (1). Also connected in this circulating circuit are two heating stages (8, 10), there being provided after the first heating stage (8) a branch for a part of the circulating gases, which opens into the pipe of the smoke gases carried off, in which branch the post-combustion device (9) and subsequently a heat exchanger, which serves as second heating stage (10) for the circulating gases, are connected. <IMAGE>
