Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Verfahren zur Gewinnung von Ammoniak aus Destillationsrückständen (Schlempen) von Zuckerrüben oder Melassen.

 gebracht.

 brought. Under these conditions, in addition to the water that is used in the reactions, a small excess of water vapor will remain.

   The material thus obtained, i.e. H. the concentrated residual caustic is sent to a battery of retorts, which are heated to 450 to 550 C.

   Under the action of the excess water vapor at the specified vacuum, the nitrogen-saturated substances contained in the treated products separate from one another by their nature in the following way: a) The protein-containing substances give indole, skatole and pyrrole; b) The amines and amides, such as. B. asparagine, aspartic acid, etc. give ammonia; e) The betaine provides acetic acid, ammonia and methyl alcohol.

   The trimethylamine-free distillation products are sent to a condenser and sulfuric acid scrubber; in this way an acidic solution is obtained which contains all the substances saturated with nitrogen and acetic acid. This acidic liquid is distilled in order to evaporate the water, the acetic acid and all volatile products, except the ammonia in the form of sulfuric acid ammonia, as well as the remaining products such as the skatole and the indole.
