So wirkt z.

Wirkung. Verwendet man z.
Dauerwirkung aufweisen. Betrachtet man z.

  Methods of combating plant pests.

It is known in crop protection that b-naphtol is effective against certain fungal pests; however, its effect is uncertain. After experiments by the inventors, it has been shown that α-naphtol is completely equivalent to naphtol in its effect, and in some cases even exceeds it.

The polyoxynaphthalines and their substitution products also had a similar effect. The products obtained by linking hydroxyl-containing aromatic nuclei, which can be achieved with various oxidizing agents, have proven to be remarkably effective against the substances mentioned above. So acts z. B. Diphenol much better than carbolic acid.

The effect is surprisingly due to the condensation of α- or β-naphtol to give U.- or odorless β-dinaphtol.
 EMI1.1

While z. B. <1. - or ss-naphtol in 0.1% solution does not prevent the germination of Ustilago Maydis after one hour of exposure, ss-dinaphtol shows germicidal even in 0-01% solution
Effect. If you use z. B. the sodium salt of a- or ss-dinaphtol, these have a very strong germicidal effect even in a 100% solution. In their anti-parasitic effect, they outperform the best fungicidal agents such. B. formaldehyde, sublimate or other inorganic and organic mercury preparations. The dinaphtholes and theirs are extremely valuable
Sodium or potassium salts still exist in that they are also one compared to other organic preparations
Have permanent effect. If one considers z.

   B. smear spores pickled with the sodium salt of ss-dinaphtol and then washed microscopically, crystals of ss-dinaphtol are found on the individual spores, to which the long-term effect is due.

The substitution products of <1. - or ss-dinaphtol, such as e.g. B. the chlorine naphthols.
