Abstract
The odour binder comprises an iron(II) salt and an organic acid, in particular iron(II) sulphate and citric acid, with or without a further metal salt. It can be used in chemical toilets or for keeping cut flowers fresh.
Description
PATENTANS PRÜCHE

PATENTAN'S SAYING
1. Agent with odor-binding properties, characterized in that it contains an iron (II) salt and an organic acid.
2. Composition according to claim 1, characterized in that it contains a magnesium, zinc, aluminum or copper salt as a further metal salt.
3. Composition according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that it contains a reducing organic acid, especially citric acid.
4. Agent according to one of claims 1-3, characterized in that it contains iron (II) sulfate, citric acid and magnesium sulfate.
5. Agent according to one of claims 1-4, characterized in that it additionally contains perfume, emulsifier and a dye.
6. Agent according to one of claims 1-5, characterized in that it is present as an aqueous solution.
7. Composition according to one of claims 1-6, characterized in that it contains 5.5% iron (II) sulfate, 2.5% citric acid, 2% magnesium sulfate and 7.5% water, 0.5% perfume and 2% Contains emulsifier.
8. Agent according to one of claims 1-5, characterized in that it is present as a soap.
9. A process for the preparation of the agent according to claim 6, characterized in that the metal salts and the organic acid are dissolved in water.
10. The method according to claim 9, characterized in that the perfume is emulsified in the aqueous solution.
Formaldehyde and / or quaternary ammonium compounds are usually used in agents with odor-binding properties, such as are used, for example, in chemical toilets, in aircraft, on boats and when camping. These substances are not harmless with regard to water protection.
It was therefore an object of the invention to find an agent with odor-binding properties, which represents a lower pollution for water and soil. The agent has the composition specified in claim 1, in particular the composition specified in claims 2-8.
Iron (II) salts have a reducing effect and bind off the H2S produced in the rotting process as Fe-S sludge. Iron (II) sulfate is preferably used. In addition, the iron and magnesium salts bind the ammonia formed.
On the one hand, the organic acid should curb bacterial growth and, on the other hand, allow the production of a clear, concentrated aqueous solution. The organic acid preferably also has a reducing effect. Citric acid is particularly preferably used.
Preferably, the agent contains other metal salts which suppress the growth of the odor-causing bacteria, e.g. Magnesium, aluminum or zinc salts. If the agent is also to have an algicidal action, it can additionally contain copper salt.
If the agent is to be used in chemical toilets, it preferably contains a perfume and a dye, e.g. Methylene blue.
The agent can also be used as a fresh agent for cut flowers.
The product can also be made as a soap, which can be hung in toilets with flushing water.
example
125 g of iron (II) sulfate (20%), 50 g of magnesium sulfate (20%) and 30 g of citric acid are dissolved in 1000 ml of water. 5 g of perfume, 10 g of emulsifier 913 (Essentia) and 10 g of emulsifier P (Zimmerli) are dispersed in the aqueous solution and 0.1-0.2 g of methylene blue are added. For use in a chemical toilet, 20-40 ml are diluted with one liter of water.
