Verfahren zur Bekämpfung von Pflanzenschädlingen. Es ist im Pflanzenschutz bekannt, daß ß-Naphthol gegen gewisse pilzliche Schädlinge wirksam ist; seine Wirkung ist jedoch unsicher. Nach Versuchen hat es sich gezeigt, daß cc-Naphthol in seiner Wirkung dem '-Naphthol vollkommen gleichkommt, ja in manchen Fällen es sogar übertrifft. Ähnliche Wirkungen wiesen auch auf die Polyoxynaphthaline sowie derenSubstitutionsprodukte. Auffallend wirksam eeL-eniiber den obiL-ze- Während z. B. a- oder 8-Naphthol in o,iprozentiger Lösung bei einstündiger Einwirkungsdauer die Keimung von Ustilage Maydis nicht verhindert, zeigt ;3-Dinaphthol noch in o,oiprozentiger Lösung keimtötende Wirkung. Verwendet man z. B. das Natriumsalz des a- oder 3-Dinaphthols, so wirken diese sogar noch in o,ooiprozentiger Lösung sehr stark keimtötend. Sie übertreffen also in ihrer antiparasitären Wirkung die besten fungiziden nannten Substanzen erwiesen sich die Produkte, die man durch Verknüpfung hydroxylhaltiger aromatischer Kerne bekommt, welche sich mit verschiedenen Oxydationsmitteln bewerkstelligen läßt. So wirkt z. B. das Diphenol wesentlich besser als die Karbolsäure.Methods of combating plant pests. Ein äußerst schätzbarer Wert zeigt sich bei den Dinaphtholen bzw. bei deren Natrium- oder Kaliumsalzen noch darin, daß sie auch gegenüber anderen organischen Präparaten eine Dauerwirkung aufweisen. Betrachtet man z.
