Beide Varianten, Fig. 1 bzw.

The invention relates to seating / reclining furniture with a swiveling backrest according to the preamble of claim 1.
Loungers are known which can be converted into a seat sofa by using loose cushions. These cushions, which have a considerable thickness - to achieve a reduction in the seat depth compared to the lying width - must be removed beforehand when converting the furniture from seating to reclining furniture.
The object of the invention is to provide backrests which do not have to be removed when a piece of reclining furniture is made from the seating furniture. This object is achieved by the feature specified in the characterizing part of the protection claim l. The subclaims relate to particularly advantageous embodiments of the invention and, together with claim 1, form part of the description.
In contrast to the known seating / reclining furniture with loose upholstery for the sitting position described above, the new seating / reclining furniture differs in that it has a fixed backrest that is movably connected to the base frame by means of fittings and can be used to lie back, or can be swung forward to sit. Swiveling the backrest is a simple hand movement and can be done in seconds.
In addition, the backrest does not need to be stowed away, because when it is swung back, it stands vertically at the rear edge of the bed and, with a thickness of approx. 10 cm, hardly takes up any space from the lying surface. In this state, the backrest also acts as a squeegee while sleeping.
Another advantage of this system is that a fixed backrest can be constructed with an optimal backrest slope, and an ergonomically better seat quality is achieved than with loose cushions.
The pivoting of the backrest is brought about by fittings which, depending on the formal purpose, are either hidden behind the backrest and thus concealed, or to the side of the backrest, and are thus arranged visibly.
Both types of fittings serve the same purpose and fit on any conventional base frame of seating / reclining furniture and can also be installed afterwards.
The fitting for rear mounting (Fig. L) is attached to the back of the backrest and to the base of the base and is slightly pushed in from the side. This means that it cannot be seen from the front and diagonally from the front. The fitting connects the backrest to the base frame. It consists of at least two struts and is rotatably supported in at least two precisely defined points. The position of these pivot points and the length of the struts are responsible for the swivel range and the exact positioning both in the sitting position - inclined backrest position - and in the lying position - vertical backrest position - of the backrest.
The fitting also has a stop for the sitting position, which defines the degree of the slope, and a second stop for the lying position, so that the backrest cannot be swiveled over the vertical position when swiveling back and may thus tip backwards if the seating / reclining furniture stands freely in the room. Furthermore, the fitting has a locking part that automatically engages in the sitting position and thus prevents the backrest from swinging back under load. This locking part is mounted above its center of gravity and thereby automatically snaps out when the backrest is raised, and folds fully into the fitting when the backrest is pivoted back into the upright position of the lying position.
So that the backrest then remains in the vertical position of the lying position, there is a device in the lower part of the backrest, for. b. a pin that snaps into a counterpart in the fixed part of the fitting.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The fitting for side mounting is attached to the side of the backrest and below to the base frame of the seating / reclining furniture and is therefore visible.
This fitting also connects the backrest to the grunge frame and is pivoted in four precisely defined points. The position of these pivot points and the length of the struts are decisive for the swivel range and the exact sitting / lying position of the backrest. Due to its design, this fitting does not require any stops and no device to ensure that the backrest remains vertical in the lying position. The fitting, however, needs a locking part that prevents the backrest from swinging back under load. This locking part is integrated in one of the four pivot points and must be released by hand.
In the following the invention is explained in detail using an exemplary embodiment in connection with the drawing.
1 and 3: assembly drawing of a swivel backrest with rear assembly, side view and rear view, Fig. 2 and 4: assembly drawing of a swivel backrest with side assembly, side view and rear view.
Fig. Lb 3: The fixed part 1 of the support is attached to the base frame 15. In the illustrated embodiment, it is a shaped tube. The stationary part 1 has in the upper part a removal device 10 in which the fastening part 9 of the backrest engages. At the upper end of the stationary part 1 there is a receptacle for an axis of rotation 7. Near this axis of rotation there is a stop 6 for the pivotable part 2 of the support. The swiveling part is represented by two flat bars and a connecting strut. This pivotable part 2 has a receptacle for the axis of rotation 7 at its lower end, and is also rotatably connected to the fixed part 1 there, and also has a stop lug 14 there.
At the upper end, the pivotable part 2 also has a receptacle for an axis of rotation 8 and is rotatably connected to the backrest 12 with a fastening plate 3 fastened to the backrest and has a stop lug 5 there. The pivotable part 2 also has a locking part 4 in the upper region , which is rotatably mounted above its center of gravity in the axis of rotation 13, and engages in the seat position with a tip 16 in a catch 11 of the mounting plate 3.
The mounting plate 3, which is fastened in the upper part of the backrest 12, has a receptacle for an axis of rotation 8 and is rotatably connected to the pivotable part 2 there.
Fig. 2t> 4: The fixed part 1 of the swivel backrest fitting for side mounting is attached to the base frame IS of the seating and reclining furniture. On the fixed part 1 there are two receptacles for axes of rotation 7 and 7. A strut 2 is articulated on the front axis of rotation 7. This strut 2 is hinged at the upper end to the lower axis of rotation 8 of the mounting plate 3. A somewhat longer strut 2 is articulated on the rear axis of rotation 7. This strut 2 is hinged at the upper end to the upper axis of rotation 8 of the mounting plate 3. A locking device is coupled to the axis of rotation 8 so that the backrest does not pivot back under load.
The mounting plate 3 is attached to the backrest 12.
Both variants, Fig. 1 or 3 and Fig. 2 or 4, perform the same function of pivoting a backrest to make a piece of furniture from a chair and vice versa.
