Verfahren zur Herstellung von Wasserstoff durch katalytische Umsetzung von Wasserdampf mit Kohlenoxyd.
Es wurde gefunden, dass die Sanerstoffverbindullgen der seltenen Erdmetalle, insbesondere des Cers, ausgezeichnet befähigt sind, bei höherer Temperatur eine Umsetzung von Wasserdampf mit Kohlenoxyd zu bewirken, so dass in technisch befriedigender Weise Wasserstoff gewonnen werden kann. Man verwendet die Oxyde vorteilhaft in feinverteilter bzw. fein poröser Form, indem man beispielsweise gefällte Hydroxyde für sich oder unter Anwendung von Binde-und Verdünnungsmitteln formt, erhitzt und sodann das Gasgemisch überleitet.
Besonders ausgezeichnete Resultate erzielt man, wenn man aktivierende Stoffe zusetzt, indem man so schon bei niedriger Temperatur eine sehr weitgehende Umsetzung bewirken kann.
Bei s pie 1 : Ein Gemisch von 3 Teilen Cernitrat und l Teil Chromnitrat wird in Wasser gelöst und in der Hitze mit Ammoniak gefällt. Man filtriert, trocknet einen passenden Teil völlig, vermischt ihn nnt dem ubrigen feuchten Anteil, bringt in Formen, trocknet wieder und leitet bei 45O bis bis C ein Wasserdampf-Wassergasgernisrh daruber.

It has been found that the sanitary compounds of the rare earth metals, in particular of cerium, are excellently able to bring about a reaction of water vapor with carbon oxide at a higher temperature, so that hydrogen can be obtained in a technically satisfactory manner. The oxides are advantageously used in finely divided or finely porous form, for example by shaping precipitated hydroxides by themselves or using binders and diluents, heating them and then passing the gas mixture over.
Particularly excellent results are achieved when activating substances are added, in that a very extensive conversion can be brought about even at low temperatures.
In pie 1: A mixture of 3 parts of cerium nitrate and 1 part of chromium nitrate is dissolved in water and precipitated with ammonia in the heat. It is filtered, a suitable portion is dried completely, mixed with the rest of the moist portion, brought into molds, dried again and a steam-water gas mixture is passed over it at 450 to 14C.
