   Die Erfindung bezweckt, einen Härteofen zu schaffen, der für die Durchführung der Nitrierhärtung besonders geeignet ist. Zu diesem Zwecke werden die mit den Nitriergasen in Berührung kommenden Teile des Ofens aus einer die katalytische Zersetzung der Gase verhindernden Legierung, insbesondere einer nichtrostenden und gegen den Angriff durch Säuren beständigen Stahllegierung, hergestellt. Die chemisch neutralen   Chrom-und Chromniekelstahllegierungen   eignen sich hiefür in besonderem Masse, weil sie ausser der geforderten Eigenschaft, keinen schädlichen Einfluss auf die Nitriergase auszuüben, auch noch ihrerseits widerstandsfähig gegen den Angriff der heissen Gase sind.
