Burners for liquid or liquid and dusty fuels.
The present invention relates to a burner for liquid fuels, in particular heavy oils, e.g. B. tar oil, the device of which makes it possible to atomize this heavy fuel by suitable grinding, friction and impact effects and to mix it intimately with the supplied combustion air.
The invention essentially consists in the fact that the fuel, which is fed in a known manner from the interior of a round, spike-like atomizing ball through individual nozzles to the annular space surrounding it, is introduced through the tangentially or approximately tangentially directed channels opposite the oil nozzles for the purpose of complete atomization and mixing.
Aaf of the drawing is the burner in Fig. 1 in longitudinal section, in Fig. 2 in cross section according to AB in Fig. 1, in Fig. 3 in a cross section according to CD in Fig. 1 and in Fig. 4 in a view of shown in front.
The oil is introduced at a into the inner, spike-like body b and emerges from this through the openings c into the mixing chamber. The air, on the other hand, enters the mixing chamber at d. These supply openings for the oil and the air, which open into the mixing space, are now located in such a way that they are directly opposite one another and therefore the two flows collide with one another when they exit in direct countercurrent with strong pressure. As a result of this extraordinarily violent collision of air and oil, the oil is initially completely smashed and then, being carried along by the air, hits against the inner spike-like body b, around which the mixture is whirled at high speed to the outlet opening, since the air openings d are tangential or run approximately tangentially.
The fuel is then completely broken up in this way within the mixing space. The mixture of heavy oil and air processed in this way in the mixing chamber leaves the burner in a gaseous state and generates a uniform, white flame of a very high temperature suitable for melting.
In addition, the burner is provided with an execution, which makes it possible to feed rod-shaped fuel, for example coal dust, to the flame. For this purpose the Urenner body is from an ileal space. r surrounded, which is in communication with a channel A, from which the dusty lirennstoff passes through the opening e into the cavity.
From there it becomes softer through the air flow and the oblique one

are also inclined, but directed opposite to the direction of the vortex of the mixture, so that the mixture reaches the flame in an increased vortex movement, whereby an intimate mixture of the dust with the flame is achieved. This device ensures that the emerging dust is not fed to the flame at one point in a stream, but surrounds the flame like a veil.
The supply of coal dust is extremely important for foundry purposes, for example, because it enables the carbon content of the iron to be modified.
