Es sind bereits Sicherheitssteighügel bekannt, bei welchen der Tritteil aufklappbar mit dem Bügelteil verbunden ist und in der Verschlussstellung von einem durch einen Winkelhebel betätigten hakenförmigen Organ festgestellt wird.
Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf Einrichtungen an einem solchen Steigbügel und besteht darin, dass der eine Arm des Winkelhebels an der Aussenseite des Steigbügels angelenkt ist und dessen anderer abgebogener Arm vor dem Bügeloberteil zu liegen kommt und derart um 900 verdreht ist, dass er eine breite Angriffsnäche für die auftreffende Fussspitze bildet. Des weiteren ist der seitlich des Steigbügels befindliche Hebelmechanismus von einer leicht zu öffnenden Hülse umschlossen, deren obere Öffnung durch eine mit dem Betätigungshebel verbundene kappenartige Platte bei allen Lagen des Hebels abgedeckt wird.
In der Zeichnung ist ein Sicherheitssteibgügel gemäss vorliegender Erfindung in Fig. 1 in Vorderansicht, in Fig. 3 in Seitenansicht und in Fig. 2 im Schnitt nach 1-1 der Fig. 1 veranschaulicht.
An dem Bügelteil 1 ist in bekannter Weise der Tritteil 2 aufklappbar angelenkt und wird in der Verschlussstellung durch ein hakenförmiges Organ. ? festgehalten, dass an der Aussenseite des Steigbtigels drehbar gelagert ist.

Die Wirkungsweise dos Steigbügels ist folgende :
Wenn der abgeworfene Reiter mit seinem Fuss im Steigbügel hängen bleibt, so drückt der Vorderfuss den vor dem oberen Bügelteil angeordneten Hebelarm 4 entgegen der Wirkung der Feder 5 gegen den Steigbügel, wodurch der Hebel um seinen Drehpunkt 8 und der Haken 3 um den Drehpunkt'9 verdreht wird. Hiedurch wird din Vl1rhindung zwischen bagel und Tritteil gelöst und der letztere klappt um sein Gelenk 10 nach abwärts.
