The invention relates to a cover for floor coverings or the like with two parts, namely a base part and a cover, wherein one of the two parts has two longitudinally extending legs, between which a recess is formed, which legs in the region of the recess have a profiling, the is formed substantially sawtooth, and wherein the other of the two parts has a toothed clamping body which is insertable into the recess and lockable in a plurality of locations between the legs.
The laying of floor coverings, such as parquet floors, results in the requirement of a shapely and functional bridging in the area of doors or other places of the collision of different fields.
This object is generally achieved by cover strips having laterally two wings, each covering one area of the floor covering on each side, thereby creating a transition between the two areas.
In order to allow adaptation to different levels of floor coverings and to allow a certain mobility over time, covering devices have become known in which one of the two parts has a recess formed between two legs into which a clamping body of the other part can be inserted. By a corresponding toothing a secure hold is achieved and by appropriate dimensioning of the components, such a cover device for different thickness floor coverings is suitable because the clamping part can be inserted at different depths in the recess.
Although height adjustment is possible with such a device, the problem remains of different floor heights on the two sides of the covering device.
To solve this problem, it has been proposed to form the cover elastic, but this allows an adjustment only to a small extent and beyond the problem of lack of stability and durability over longer periods results. Another solution for adapting to different levels of floor coverings on both sides of the covering is disclosed in DE 203 20 273 U. In this case, a joint cup is provided in the base part, in which a web arrangement is pivotally held, which has legs which hold the cover.
A similar solution with Gelenkpan and pivoting cover is described in the AT 000.862 U of the applicant of the present application. Moreover, EP 0 588 734 A shows a solution in which a cover member is pivotally attached to nails hammered in the ground.
It has been found that solutions of this type are unsatisfactory, since it is complex on the one hand to form the joint assembly and on the other hand, the clamping device.
Moreover, from a functional point of view, it is difficult to set the tolerances in mass production so that the joint arrangement has a reproducible holding torque, that is to say that the mobility of the joint is not too loose, but also not too strict.
Object of the present invention is to avoid these disadvantages and to develop a covering of the type described above so that in a structurally simple way a reliable acting solution is created, which automatically adapts automatically to different heights on both sides of the device.
According to the invention these objects are achieved in that the clamping body is formed spherical and is pivotally held in the recess.
Ballig in the sense of the invention means a substantially round cross-section, but certain deviations from the circular shape are possible. Essential to the present invention is the fact that the function of vertical height compensation and the function of the pivoting are not solved separately from each other as in the prior art by joints and locking devices, but that by special design of the legs of the one part and the clamping body of the other Part of both functions will be realized together. By appropriate geometric design of the individual parts, a sufficiently large height adjustment on the one hand and a sufficiently large tilt angle on the other hand can be ensured.
A functionally particularly favorable solution is given if the clamping body is formed substantially circular cylindrical.
In this way it is ensured that the clamping forces are largely independent of the tilt angle of the cover.
It is within the meaning of the invention, both possible that the legs are formed on the base part and that, accordingly, the clamping body is formed on the cover, as well as vice versa, the clamping body is arranged on the base part and the legs are provided on the cover.
It is particularly advantageous to form the clamping body on the base part, since it is possible in such a case, to use an existing cover member, as described for example in AT 410 690 B, so that the manufacturing and logistics costs is reduced.
It has been found that in some cases the height adjustment of a single embodiment is not sufficient to cover the entire range of applications from thin laminate flooring to a relatively thick parquet floor. Of course, this fact can be taken into account by making two different covering devices for different thickness ranges and offering them on the market.
However, the associated logistical effort can be avoided in a particularly advantageous manner, characterized in that the base part is formed in several parts and has an exchangeable clamping body. It can thus be contained in a packaging unit two or more clamp body with different heights, so that the user can easily assemble the appropriate for his respective needs cover device.
In principle, the present covering device is designed as a clamping system. This has the advantage that the top of the cover strips is free of screw heads or the like.
However, it is equally possible to carry out the inventive solution as a screwing system for special applications, whereby a particularly firm hold can be achieved.
As a result, the present invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the embodiments illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 5 different embodiments of the invention in each case in section.
The embodiment of Fig. 1 consists of a base part 1 made of plastic and an attachable thereto cover part 2, which is designed as an aluminum profile. The base part 1 consists of a base plate 3 which can be fastened to a subfloor, not shown, on which a fin 4 a spherical clamping body 5 is integrally formed, which is formed substantially circular cylindrical and has a toothing 6 at its periphery.
The cover part 2 has legs 7a, 7b which delimit a recess 8 extending in the longitudinal direction and which have on their inside a sawtooth-shaped profiling 9 which, in the assembled state, interacts with the toothing 6 of the clamping body 5. By this embodiment, it is possible to attach the cover 2 in a plurality of angular positions and at different heights on the base part 1, to allow adaptation to the height of the adjacent floor coverings 10, 11, so that the side wings 12, 13 of the cover 2 at the surface of the floor coverings 10, 11 rest. - ,. .. .. ..
- 4 -
The embodiment of Fig. 2 differs from the embodiment of Fig. 1 in that the clamping body 15 is formed on the cover 2, while the legs 17 a, 17 b are integrally formed on the base part 1.
In terms of its function, this embodiment essentially corresponds to that of FIG. 1.
The embodiment of Fig. 3 differs from the embodiment of Fig. 1 in that the base part 1 is formed in two parts and is formed of a separate base plate 3 and a male member 14 which forms an exchangeable clamping body 5. This embodiment makes it possible to cover a relatively large thickness range of the adjacent floor coverings 10, 11, since a lower insertion part 14 is provided for thinner floor coverings, while for larger heights an insertion part 14 with a correspondingly longer rib 4 can be used.
If several different plug-in parts 14 are supplied in a packaging unit next to the cover part 2 and the base plate 3 of the base part 1, the respectively fitting cover device can be assembled in place.
The clamping body 5 is not formed exactly circular cylindrical in the embodiment shown, but slightly elliptical in cross-section, so that the height is slightly larger than the width of the clamp body fifth
In this way it is achieved that a slight moment is exerted on the cover 2 by the bias of the legs 7a, 7b, when this is inclined, which biases the cover 2 in the horizontal position.
Screw holes 20 in the base plate 3 are intended to screw the base part 1 on a substrate, not shown.
Fig. 4 shows a particularly favored embodiment of the invention, in which the cover 2 can be secured by a screw 18 on the base part 1. A clasp bar 19 which can be clamped to the surface of the cover part 2 makes it possible for the screws 18 to not be visible when the covering device is finished.
In this embodiment, the toothing 6 of the clamping body 5 facilitates the screwing of the self-tapping screw 18 in the respectively desired position, wherein the angular position of the cover 2 in Fig. 4 is exaggerated.
The embodiment of FIG. 5 corresponds to the visual prediction variant of FIG. 4 with the difference that a replaceable additional clamping body 25 can be plugged onto the original clamp body 5 to achieve a corre sponding greater height of the cover 2. The clamping body 5 and 25 are hollow, to facilitate the screwing of the screws 18.
The present invention makes it possible to connect in a simple manner and different floor heights in a structurally clean and reliable manner with a cover.
