Description

  Process for etching indigo dyes.

The etching of indigo dyes with hydrosulfite has always given unsatisfactory results, so that this etchant could not be used in indigo printing.

It has now been shown that a small addition of anthraquinone to the hydrosulfite printing inks has the surprising effect in indigo dyeings that pure white etchings are achieved on indigo. The process is also suitable for producing hunt etching, especially with sulfur inks.

   Example:
200 g hydrosulfite N F conc.

   200 9 water
550 9 Britisbgurn thickening l: 1
50 9 anthraquinone dough 300 / oig
1 kg.

This etching color is printed on the indigo-dyed fabric, steamed for 3 minutes at 101 "C in the Mather-Ptatt, then passed through sodium hydroxide solution of 20 Bé and washed.
