The invention relates to a method for producing a plate-like lightweight material in particular by hot pressing a mixture of an inorganic expandable material and a curable binder.
In a method of this type, for. B. sprayed expanded mica with an aqueous binder solution or binder dispersion, such that the glued expanded material still has the consistency of a free-flowing granulate. A press cake is now produced from the glue-coated granulate in a pre-pressing device, which is then placed in a press equipped with heating devices, in which it is hot pressed to a lightweight board and cured in the process. If a lightweight board is to be produced, which on one or both front surfaces with a cover sheet, for. B. a paper is coated, the glued granules can be pressed together with the one-sided glued cover sheets in the pre-pressing device to a press cake already provided with cover sheets.
The production of this press cake provided with cover sheets can advantageously be carried out in a belt press, at the inlet of which the glued granulate and the glued cover sheets are continuously fed.
This process for producing lightweight building boards has proven itself well when using expanded mica as an inorganic expanding material.
When this known method is applied to the use of pearlite as an inorganic blowing material, however, there are now unexpected difficulties.
When the glued pearlite granulate is pressed into plates, it is often the case - under otherwise identical conditions - that the proportion of reject plates is much higher than when using expanded mica. This can perhaps be explained by the fact that, due to the greater hardness of pearlite in relation to expanded mica, the lower lubricity of the pearlite grains against one another and the broader grain size distribution (high dust content), the achievable uniformity of the plate structure is lower than when using expanded mica.
The invention is based on the object of specifying a method for producing a plate-shaped light material by hot pressing a mixture of an inorganic expandable material and a hardenable binder, in which a largely uniform plate quality can be achieved with low production waste even when using pearlite as the inorganic expandable material.
The object on which the invention is based is achieved in that expanded pearlite granules are sprayed hot with an aqueous oil dispersion, that the pearlite granules impregnated in this way are sprayed with the binder present in aqueous solution or dispersion and that the binder provided is still free-flowing State-of-the-art pearlite granulate is formed into a press cake and this is then hot-pressed in a press equipped with heating devices.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, a drilling oil dispersion is used as the oil dispersion for the treatment of the pearlite granulate.
The invention is explained in more detail below using an example.
Example: 85 kg (850 l) of pearlite with a share of 35 to 40% in the grain size range of 0.2 to 0.5 mm are taken hot from the blowing furnace and in a treatment chamber with constant movement of the pearlite with an aqueous drilling oil dispersion, the total oil quantity of which is between Is 0, 1 and 2 kg, sprayed, the water evaporating and the oil being deposited on the surface of the pearlite particles. The considerable amount of dust (15% with a grain size of 0.2 mm) is largely absorbed by the oil.
EMI1.1
Phenol formaldehyde resin and 15 mol% urea formaldehyde resin are mixed by spraying so that the pearlite particles are wetted with the resin solution. The pearlite granulate glued in this way still has a free-flowing consistency.
For the production of a double-sided paper-coated lightweight construction board, the glued pearlite granulate is placed in a bed height of approx. 40 mm between two cover sheets made of sodium kraft paper, which were previously coated on one side per m2 with 0.5 kg of a resin solution (as for pearlite gluing

compresses a thickness of 20 mm and cures for about 6 minutes. The press plate temperatures that occur are 140 to 175OC.
The paper-coated lightweight board produced in this way has a density of about 230 kg / m3 and a flexural strength of 300 to 400 N / cm2.
