Method of making an amber substitute.

The method of Stamm Patent No. 22371 is further developed by the following additional invention: When using the? ss resin mixture as an additive to brittle types of amber or to copal resin, it has proven advantageous to add small amounts of powdered succinic acid. This addition makes it possible to give the artificial product the appearance of natural amber, since it mimics its cloudy and milky appearance. If the mixture is used for the production of ambroid plates, the addition of succinic acid not only makes the plates more natural but also increases their strength.

The x ss-II resin is mixed with succinic acid and about 10-50 g of this is added to 1000 g of copal resin or amber. The additional mengo depends on the quality of the amber or copal resin.

Instead of succinic acid, you can also use tartaric acid, citric acid or the salts of these acids.
