Eisenbahnkupplung

Railway coupling
The usual railway coupling has the disadvantage that it can only be operated with difficulty and at risk of death, since the railroad worker who operates the coupling is between the colliding cars during his work. To avoid this disadvantage, many, mostly complicated and expensive designs have already been devised, such as a pivot lever with double tab and spring and with a handle arranged on the side of the car or a device for adjusting the hook in its longitudinal direction via screw and worm wheel and. Like. All of which are complicated and expensive, so that none could prevail.
The invention relates to a simple device by means of which all the disadvantages of previously known designs are avoided. It relates to the usual railway coupling with a coupling spindle pivotably arranged on the towing hook through one of the two coupling lugs and with a pivoting device consisting of a pivot lever articulated near the end of the wagon, with a handle arranged approximately in the wagon side surface, and consists essentially in that the Swivel lever consists of two parts sliding into one another in the longitudinal direction and is each provided with a support, each of which is assigned to one of the two coupling brackets, which they guide by means of ball bearings in the longitudinal direction of the coupling spindle.
The pivot lever provided with the supports is preferably extended beyond its pivot bearing to form a second lever arm which is provided with a stop which limits its movement and is designed as a counterweight for the pivotable lever and coupling parts.
The drawing shows schematically an embodiment example in FIG. 1 in elevation and in FIG. 2 in plan.
The usual railroad coupling consists of a towing hook 1 on which the coupling spindle 3 provided with the coupling handle 4 is arranged over the coupling tab 2, which has a coupling bracket 5 for the towing hook 1 'of the wagon to be coupled at the free end. Under the railroad coupling 1 - 5, near the end of the car, a two-armed pivot lever 6 is articulated in the illustrated embodiment, the left arm of which guides the coupling through supports 7 and 8 twice. The pivot lever 6 is provided with a counterweight 9 for the lever and clutch so that they can be pivoted easily together, the lever rotating about the lever bearing io.
The latter is penetrated by a transverse rod 11 protruding perpendicularly from the lever 6, on which a handle 12 is arranged at each end approximately in the side plane of the carriage, for which a fixation will advantageously be provided. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the pivot lever 6 consists of two parts 6 ', 6 "which slide into one another in the longitudinal direction - the lever could also be provided so that it can be extended in any other way - which are the supports for one support 7 and 8 for the two Coupling bracket 2, 5. Since, when the coupling is pivoted, the lever 6 in the bearing 10 and the coupling 2-5 in the transverse pin of the draw hook 1 are rotated, a longitudinal movement takes place between the coupling 2, 3, 5 and the lever parts 7 and 8 For this reason, the latter lead the clutch displaceably, with the interposition of ball bearings 13 or the like.
The counterweight 9 can be designed as a stop to limit the downward pivoting of the lever 6 together with the coupling 1-5.
The rail coupling according to the invention can be used to couple and uncouple in a simple manner by a person on the side of the car, which is not only effortless but, above all, is completely safe. When two carriages are pushed together for the purpose of coupling the levers 6 of the two car sides facing one another are expediently placed approximately parallel to one another.
