  COSMOPOLITAN POWER Co. IN CHICAGO.

   Process for condensing steam.

Both condensers are known in which air mixed with atomized water serves as a coolant, which is driven through the apparatus, and those in which a mixture of air and water vapor is used for this purpose, which is sucked off through the condenser. According to the present invention, a mixture of air and atomized water is used as the coolant, which is quickly sucked off through pipes surrounded by the vapor to be condensed or the liquid to be cooled. This suction should result in faster evaporation of the water in the air and therefore a more intensive cooling of the environment can be effected.

In the drawing, a capacitor for performing the method is shown in vertical section (FIG. 1) and floor plan (FIG. 2) as an exemplary embodiment. It consists of a housing 1 which has a drain opening 2 for the condensation water on the bottom and on which a hood 5 is attached, which is connected to the steam inlet pipe 3 by a gooseneck 4. In this housing 1 a large number of horizontal, narrow tubes 6 are arranged. The air is mixed with water that flows through the jet rose 11
 EMI1.1
of the fan 9 through the pipes 6 in the direction of the arrows into a hood 7 attached to the housing and sucked out of this through a pipe 8.

The tubes must be straight, thin-walled and polished on the inside to allow the air to pass as freely as possible.

The correct temperature of the air for generating water vapor can be achieved in a cold climate by heating it up; in a temperate climate the average temperature of the room in which the condensation takes place is sufficient.
