Vereines deutscher Ingenieure"vom 7. In

Operating procedure for Ober'fächeii condensation systems with cross-flow trickle cooler on steam vehicles.
In the case of surface condensers arranged on steam vehicles, the difficulty arises in cooling the cooling water required for condensation back as far as is necessary for effective condensation and in guiding the cooling water through the surface condenser in such a way that not too much space, weight and effort is required for this entire facility .
The invention now relates to a method for operating such condensers, which consists in that cooling water weighing at least about 30 kg / sec. for every square meter of inlet cross-section of the cooling zone of the cross-flow cooler is passed in a simple circuit through the condenser and the cross-flow trickle cooler. This relatively large amount of water passed through the air cooler allows a large amount of heat to be given off to the cooling air. The recooled, relatively large amount of water can then again absorb a large amount of heat in the condenser and release it into the air.
In dry coolers. in which a z. If, for example, the air flow generated by the journey acts on the water, which is guided in free fall transversely to the air flow, there is a risk that a considerable part of the water will be carried away by the air flow, ie thrown outwards and thus lost. Experience has shown that in the cooling duct the relative speed between the airflow and the vehicle is at most

Square meters of free canal area.
Taking into account a specific volume of the air before 0.86 nolkg, given the pressure and temperature conditions in question, an air weight of 5: 0.86 = 5-82 kg / sec flows through every square meter of the inlet cross-section of the cooling zone. For example, if the air when it enters the cooling zone has a temperature of around 15 C and a saturation of 70%, it has, according to known thermal diagrams (see e.g. #Zeitschrift des
Association of German Engineers "of January 7, 1905, p. 11) has a heat content of about 8 cal / kg. In
Fig. 1 of the drawing shows a section of such a heat diagram.
The abscissas are the temperatures and the ordinates are the amounts of heat (cal.) Which 1 keg of air in the
Contains degrees of saturation (in pro @ ducks), which are represented by the various curves rising from bottom left to top right and described with the associated saturation numbers in percentages.
A is the initial state of air. If this air heats up in the dry cooler to 37.50 C and its saturation increases to 80% (point B). so its heat content when leaving the cooling zone is about 30 kallkg. The
During the transition from the state represented by point A in FIG. 1 to the state represented by point ss, air has absorbed heat (30-8) == 22 cal / kg. It follows that the 5. 82 kg
Air. which, according to the above calculation, flow through every second per 1 m2 of cooling duct cross-section, one
Heat quantity of dz 22 = 127 cal / sec. able to absorb.
With the low head available in a dry cooler on vehicles, the water can cool down by a maximum of around 40 ° C. Accordingly, for every square meter of entry area of the cooling zone, at least 127: 4, i.e. more than 30 lcglsee. Water can be supplied.
The amount of water cooled in this way should be circulated directly to the surface condenser and from there back to the dry cooler. So that the dimensions and the resistances in the surface capacitor do not become too large, the flow should not be traversed three or even four, but only twice lengthwise. This requires retroactive effect for a prescribed heat transfer

a-large amount of water. In the dry cooler, the entire amount of water should flow through the air flow and, for the sake of simplicity, only cross the air flow once and then start the cycle again.
The drawing shows in Fig. 2 in a schematic manner an embodiment of the E1findu! Jg, - subject. A surface condenser 2 is arranged under the front part of the steam boiler 1.

the length of the cooling water flowed through it twice.
The heated water flows back through the pipe 12 and is conveyed by the pump 1.1, which is also driven by the auxiliary turbine 9, by means of the pipe 14 into an upper container 15, from which it falls freely in fine distribution. where it is brushed and cooled by the draft of the air while driving. The air enters a channel formed for this purpose at 16 and at 17 the water collects in the lowest part of this channel and flows into the container 7, from which it starts the cycle again under the action of the pump 10. In the cooling channel, the actual cooling zone extends from cross-section a-b to cross-section d-e. There is only a single intersection of water and air in the air duct in each circuit.
