Conveyor belt for hot goods
The subject matter of the invention is a combined conveyor belt made of natural or synthetic rubber or rubber-like materials with a layer of fire-resistant fabric made of asbestos or other fire-resistant, organic or inorganic fiber materials of natural or artificial origin.
Conveyor belts made of rubber with an asbestos layer were already known per se. In these embodiments, however, the fabric was either vulcanized or riveted or tacked onto the rubber base.
The lifespan of such belts, however, was very short, because the thermal and mechanical stress on the belt caused the fabric overlay to separate from the base, especially at the edges, and the exposed parts of the rubber body now came into direct contact with the hot conveyed material .
In contrast, the present invention consists in that the fabric made of asbestos or other refractory materials of natural or artificial origin is simply placed on the rubber body without using a special binder, rivets or the like. Only the edge parts of the fabric are enclosed by the main body of the tape and held on the base in such a way that the overlay can no longer be detached. When the conveyor belt is pressed in the course of the vulcanization of the rubber body, there is also a sufficient connection between the fabric cover and the base of the conveyor belt.
The new conveyor belt allows goods to be conveyed at a very high temperature without premature wear or damage to the belt.
The drawing shows a cross section through an embodiment of the new conveyor belt. The conveyor belt 1 has a support 2 made of asbestos fabric or the like. At the edges 3, the main body of the conveyor belt overlaps the edges of the asbestos fabric 2.
