Dichtungsmaterial.
PATENT-ANSPRUCHS : i.

Sealing material.
The invention relates to a new sealing material which u in the production of connections between machine parts. Like. To secure the connection points against the leakage of liquids or gases, etc.
So far, putty, leather, rubber, hemp, asbestos, lead, copper, etc. have been used for this purpose.
The invention concerns the creation of a new sealing material, which consists essentially of reed fibers, primarily fibers of the reed species belonging to the genus Typha (cattail reed fibers). These fibers are felted as such on their own or in combination with other vegetable or animal fibers of all kinds. For the production of sealing materials in the form of plates, for example, a felt layer made of the specified fibers can be covered on both sides by a layer of a fabric made of other suitable fibers, in particular cellulose yarns with or without the addition of textile fibers. The whole can be impregnated in a known manner with any materials which are otherwise used for impregnating sealing materials.
Tests have shown that the new sealing material for sealing hot or cold liquids and gases, e.g. B. for the production of packs, can be used advantageously. The form in which the sealing material is used, whether as plates, rings, cords, cuffs, or as a cover for machine parts, does not matter, the new sealing material always shows the property of reliable sealing and almost unlimited service life. PATENT CLAIM: i. Sealing material, consisting of matted reed fibers, preferably of fibers of the reed species belonging to the genus Typha (cattail reed fibers).
