PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE : i.

Method for impregnating textile belts u. Like. Using gutta-percha, balata, rubber or similar materials.
It is a known fact that solutions of gutta-percha, balata, rubber or the like in the known solvents in a sufficiently concentrated state have almost no permeability to fibrous materials such as canvas, woven belts, etc.
The reason for this is that these solutions have a colloidal character, so that when they are soaked or when they are introduced into the woven fabric, most of the gutta-percha, balata or rubber remains on the surface and only the solvent penetrates.
According to the present invention, these deficiencies are eliminated in that the solutions of gutta-percha, balata, rubber and other similar substances are mixed with sulphurized vegetable oil, preferably in the form in which such under the name "oil stain" or "water-soluble oil" or "Turkish red oil" is known.
Sulphurized castor oil is particularly suitable for fabric belts, but other sulphurized vegetable oils can also be used.
If such an oil is added in a ratio of 2 to 20% to the gutta-percha, balata or rubber solutions, the result is that the solution at the same concentration becomes thin and very easily penetrates into woven fabrics in every single fiber, with or without Use of mechanical aids as well as vacuum or pressure. The sulphurized oil gives the gutta-percha, the balata or the rubber peculiar properties during drying, which are characterized by the fact that the materials become leather-like, tough and flexible and more resistant to cold and heat. If one also wishes to vulcanize the finished product, in addition to the solution mentioned, sulfur can also be introduced into the tissue in any ratio in dissolved form and then heated in a known manner.
PATENT CLAIMS: i. Process for impregnating fibrous materials, e.g. B. woven textile belts u. The like., characterized in that gutta-percha, balata, rubber or similar materials may be mixed with any amount of sulphurized vegetable oil in known solvents, for the purpose of making the solution thin and giving it a strong penetration.
