Process for producing a glue resin for the paper industry.
It applies both to the raw resin distiller and to those involved in the further processing of
Experts dealt with natural resin as a fact of experience that almost all deliveries of natural resin are subject to more or less large fluctuations in their quality with regard to their softening point, for which the diversity and irregularity of the distillation process, the type of tree from which the resin balm comes, its location, the climatic conditions of the relevant
The country of production, the time of year in which the resin balm was obtained, and other circumstances may be the cause. For the use of natural resin in paper sizing, but mainly in the manufacture of glue resin, these quality fluctuations are noticeable in a disadvantageous way.
It has now been shown that the manufacture of glue resin for the paper industry results in much more valuable products if natural resins, preferably rosin, are treated with air in a molten state before further processing.
This treatment takes place either in an autoclave or in an open vessel. If the treatment is carried out in an autoclave, then the treatment with air can be followed directly by the production of the glue resin without having to transfer the mass.
The introduction of air in finely divided form results in oxidation of the rosin, which increases the melting point.
The air is introduced until a desired softening point is achieved.
It can consequently be achieved by the pretreatment according to the invention that the different types of natural resins, which have a very different softening point depending on the type of production, can be adjusted to a specific softening point.
This treatment with air also has a positive effect on the other properties of the resin. This standardization of the properties of the rosin ensures that, according to a tried and tested recipe, high-quality end products are obtained under all circumstances, regardless of the circumstances under which the starting material was obtained.
According to a proven embodiment, a rosin with a softening point of 630 in the molten state is subjected to treatment with air for about three hours. As soon as the softening point 680 C is reached, the air supply is interrupted and this material is then subjected to further processing for glue resin according to the parent patent.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for producing a glue resin for the paper industry according to parent patent No. 142776, characterized in that the natural resin is subjected to the action of air in a finely divided state for the purpose of oxidation and increase the softening point in order to be processed into glue resin in a molten state glue resin production to obtain a uniform starting material regardless of the type of natural resin production.
