Electrical safety system for railroad crossings.
EMI1.1
which the warning signals are actuated with the help of simple switching points, preferably by means of rail contacts. The system is designed in particular for a single-track route that is traveled in both directions. The known arrangements have the disadvantage that the switching on and also switching off of the individual signals already takes place through the first axle of the train, since the rail contacts used each return to their rest position between two axles. The red warning lamp is therefore already switched off when the first train axle drives over the rail contact at the route crossing. The same also applies when driving out of the route section to be protected.
Attempts have already been made to eliminate this disadvantage by installing isolated rail sections in the track instead of the rail contacts. Such arrangements make the subsequent installation of security systems at previously unprotected crossings very difficult.
According to the invention, delay relays are actuated by the switching points (line contacts), which control the signaling. This makes it possible to make the signal control dependent on the last pull axis, even when using the usual rail contacts. Mercury delay relays have proven particularly effective as delay relays.
The figure shows an embodiment of a security system of this type.

Path transition P is a rail work contact K 2 is provided. The system works with quiescent current, i. H. a current flows from earth via battery, resistor R 2, resistor R 1, relay R, rail contact K 1, rail contact K 3, relay contact h 6, relay contact q 1 to earth. The relay R is therefore energized in the idle state. The contacts r 1 -r 6 are drawn in the position corresponding to this state. This quiescent current circuit increases the safety of the system, since every cable break immediately switches on the red warning lamp in the same way as when the line contact K 1 or K 3 is interrupted by a train being driven over.
It is assumed that a train is entering the section to be viewed from the left.
As soon as the first axis passes over the rail contact A 7, the closed circuit for the relay R is interrupted, which drops out and switches its contacts; 'J -)' 6. The electrical circuit for the white flashing light is interrupted by contact r 1 and the red flashing light is switched on by

When the train has reached the crossing point C, the rail contact K 2 is closed by the first axis and thereby the holding relay H from earth, contact X '.' J, contact K 1, relay H, battery to earth to respond. The relay ss closes a holding circuit for you

Axes closed and open. The relay Q is equipped with such a delay that its armature only drops out 5-7 seconds after the current is switched off. This relay therefore remains attracted to the rail contact K while the train passes over it. If the last axis has passed the rail contact, the armature of relay Q drops out after 5-7 seconds and contact q 1 closes.
The relay R can respond again from earth via battery, contact r 6, resistor R 1, relay R, rail contact K 1, rail contact K 3, contact h 6, contact q 1 to earth. The resistor R 2 was short-circuited by the contact r 6, so that relay R responds quickly, but only consumes a smaller current to hold it. The white flashing light Lie is switched on again via contact r 1. The contact r 2 closes a circuit in parallel

If the first axle of the train runs over the rail contact K 3, the closed circuit for the relay R is interrupted again, so that its armature drops out. This enables the relay S to respond via the now closed contact / 'J. Through the contact s. ? becomes

Maintain contact 1'1 interrupted current for the white flashing light. The holding relay H is de-energized by moving the contact s 1. The contact s 1 closes a holding circuit for the relay S, which remains energized even after the contact h 4 is opened. The delay relay V now receives current via the contacts s 5 and r 4. The circuit for the delay relay Q is interrupted by opening the contact s 4.
After each axis moving via contact K 3, the circuit for relay R, which runs to earth via contact s 6, is briefly closed. The contact r 4 opens each time the circuit for the relay V, but this during

Since the contacts K 1 and K3 are connected in series, it does not matter whether the train first passes the contact J 1 or the contact K 3, i. left the system works in exactly the same way when the train enters the section to be protected from the right.
