Abdichtendes Lager.

Sealing bearing.
The object of the present invention is a bearing for shafts and. Like., which prevents pressurized gases or liquids from escaping from the inside of a machine in that a pressure ring is arranged at one end of the bearing on the shaft, the sealing surface of which is pressed against the sealing surface of a second bearing ring attached to the bearing and consists What is new is that the pressure rings having the sealing surfaces are designed as ball bearings and the outer edges of the pressure rings advantageously have sling rings.
The drawing shows two embodiments of the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section through a pressure-tight bearing with pressure control, Fig. 2 shows a similar bearing without pressure control.
The shaft 2 having an impeller or turbine wheel 1 is supported in the housing 3 and is provided with a collar 4, against which one end of a compression spring 5 is supported, the other end of which rests on the pressure ball bearing 6. Of the two sealing rings 7, 8, the former is fastened to the impeller 1 and the latter is partially let into the housing 3; the contact surface of the two rings 7, 8 are ground together pressure-tight. In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the pressure transmitted by the spring 5 to the collar 4 or the shaft 2 is partly absorbed by the balls 10 arranged between the sealing rings 7, 8. The sealing rings can have slinger rings 11 to prevent water from penetrating the sealing surface.
In Fig. 1, 12 represents a counter nut and 13 a union nut, the sleeve 14 of which can be pressed against the ball bearing 15 resting on the collar 4 of the shaft 2 if the pressure acting on the sealing surface of the rings 7, 8 is to be reduced.
The operation of the device is as follows. As a result of the action of the compression spring 5 on the collar 4 of the shaft 2, the sealing ring 7 is pressed with its sealing surface against the sealing surface of the sealing ring 8 fitted in the housing 3; liquids or gases under pressure in the chamber of the impeller 1 cannot therefore escape through the bearing of the shaft 2.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Sealing bearing for shafts u. The like., consisting of a pressure ring which is pressed sealingly against a second pressure ring attached to the bearing housing by the controllable action of a spring, characterized in that the pressure rings (7, 8) are designed as ball bearings.
