    Expansionsgefäss für Warmwasserheizanlagen.
 EMI1.1

Expansion vessel for hot water heating systems.
 EMI1.1

In central heating systems for entire buildings, this measure for automatic water replenishment is completely justified. However, the case is different with small heating systems, which z. B. operated in conjunction with a small room and only serve to heat one or a few adjoining rooms. In this case, the entire heating system is located in the living room itself. The routing of a water pipe would often be associated with great costs and circumstances, which would otherwise make the installation easy
 EMI1.2
in relation to their cheapness inadmissibly expensive.

Regularly refilling the expansion vessel by hand is perceived as a burden and, if overlooked, can lead to it boiling dry and consequently even to the heating pipes burning through. The invention therefore aims to significantly reduce the evaporation of the water, so that it only needs to be refilled in intervals that are long enough for the impending water shortage to be reliably perceived in the meantime. This also avoids the risk that the rising damp will cause damage to the room.

It is now known that the evaporation of water is significantly reduced if its surface is not in contact with air but with a solid or liquid substance. The invention now applies this phenomenon to the special case of the expansion vessel of hot water heating systems and consists in the use of an evaporation-inhibiting layer floating on the water surface of the expansion vessel.

In the drawing, a heating system to which the invention relates is shown, for example.

In the furnace 1, the heating pipes 2 of a hot water circulation heater are installed.

The upper connection line 3 is led through the wall 4 into the adjoining room and opens into the expansion vessel 5, from which the downpipe 6 leads to the radiator 7, which through the line 8 again with the heating pipes; 2 communicates.

According to the invention, a layer 9 of 01 or some other high-boiling, water-immiscible but specifically lighter liquid is applied to the water surface in the expansion vessel.
