Trübungsmittel für Zirkonemaillen.
Der Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Trübungsmittel für Zirkonemaillen, welches aus der Reaktionsmasse besteht, die aus Zirkonsilikat durch Erhitzen mit Alkalien oder Erdalkalien erhalten wird, wobei am besten die Alkalien oder Erdalkalien in einem solchen Verhältnis verwendet werden, dass kein freies Alkali oder Erdalkali oder nur ein sehr geringer Überschuss in der Reaktionsmasse vorhanden ist.
Gemäss der Erfindung wird sonach Zirkonsilikat und zw. entweder natürliches Zirkonsilikat oder synthetisch hergestelltes Zirkonsilikat mit Alkalien oder Erdalkalien behandelt und das so erhaltene Reaktionsprodukt als Trübungsmittel verwendet.
Die Alkalien können verwendet werden als Oxyde, Hydroxyde, Karbonate u. dgl. oder als Gemenge derselben.
Bei Ausführung des Verfahrens zur Herstellung des Trübungsmittels gemäss der Erfindung wird Zirkonsilikat z. B. mit einer konzentrierten Ätznatronlösung vermengt, am besten im Verhältnis von einem Teil Zirkonoxyd und einem Teil Ätznatron bzw. ungefähr jener Menge, die erforderlich ist, um an das Zirkonoxyd und an die Kieselsäure Alkali zu binden und das Gemenge auf zirka 800 C erhitzt.
Das so erhaltene Reaktionsprodukt ist das fertige Trübungsmittel.
Bei Verwendung von Karbonaten muss die Temperatur entsprechend höher gehalten werden.

The object of the invention is an opacifier for zirconium enamels, which consists of the reaction mass obtained from zirconium silicate by heating with alkalis or alkaline earths, the alkalis or alkaline earths being best used in such a ratio that no free alkali or alkaline earth or only there is very little excess in the reaction mass.
According to the invention, zirconium silicate and either natural zirconium silicate or synthetically produced zirconium silicate are treated with alkalis or alkaline earths and the reaction product thus obtained is used as an opacifier.
The alkalis can be used as oxides, hydroxides, carbonates and the like. Like. Or as a mixture of the same.
When carrying out the process for the preparation of the opacifier according to the invention, zirconium silicate z. B. mixed with a concentrated caustic soda solution, preferably in a ratio of one part zirconium oxide and one part caustic soda or approximately the amount required to bind alkali to the zirconium oxide and the silica and the mixture is heated to about 800 C.
The reaction product obtained in this way is the finished opacifier.
