Fliehkraftregler.
Fig. 2 veranschaulicht den Regler im lotrechten Schnitt.

Centrifugal governor.
The centrifugal governor according to the invention is a special type of regulator in which the movement of a member is caused axially in the direction of the drive shaft by the action of the regulator, by which latter movement a regulating member, e.g. B. a valve is operated. This particular type of construction is extremely simple and therefore the regulator, and since it can be arranged at the front end of the drive shaft, can easily be adjusted from the outside.
An embodiment according to the invention is shown in the drawings, u. 1 shows the side view of a truck equipped with the regulator according to the invention, part of the front wheel has been omitted for the sake of clarity. Fig. 2 illustrates the regulator in vertical section. Fig. 3 is a section along line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a section along line 4-4 of Fig. 3 with the regulator weights in the external position. FIG. 5 is a section along line 5-5 of FIG. 4.
10 denotes the engine, 11 the radiator, 1:? the fuel tank and 13 the front wheels of a truck, 14 is the exhaust pipe provided with the branch pipe, 15 is the intake pipe and 16 is an air supply pipe which connects the intake pipe 1.5 and an air cleaner 17.
The exhaust branch pipe 14 is provided with a fuel evaporator 18, from which a gas pipe 19 branches off to the intake pipe, where the gasification of the fuel takes place. The point of the intake pipe adjacent to the opening point of the gas pipe 19 is referred to as the carburetor 20 and is equipped with a throttle valve of a known type. The latter is not shown and is under the action of a hand lever 21 which is used to regulate the gas supply to the engine.
A second actuating lever 22 is connected to the throttle valve in such a way that the rotation of the lever: Z1 always depends on the actuating lever 22. If the latter is rotated into the so-called open position, the lever 21 can be rotated by hand and thereby pivoted the throttle valve and the gas supply to the intake pipe 15 can be regulated in this way. If the lever 22 is in his

the gas supply to the engine is independent of the hand lever 21. The lever 22 is actuated by the controller according to the invention, the lever 21, however, by a lever arranged on or in the vicinity of the steering wheel of the truck.
At the front end of the engine 10 there is a disk 23 provided with extensions 24. The front shaft and the radiator 11 are arranged on the extensions. The motor is also provided with a gear 25 located in the disk 23 for driving the magnet and controller.
The shaft 26 of the gear wheel 25 rests in a bearing 27 of the motor 10 and at its end carries a clutch disc 28 which is used to drive the magnet or distributor.
At the front of the gear 25 is by means of a flange. 30 and screws 31 are attached to a shaft 29 driving the controller. The latter protrudes forward through an opening in the disk 23.
A protective shell 32 is also attached to the gear 25 by means of the screws 31, said protective shell 32 extending forward and partially enclosing the regulator weights. At the edge of the protective shell 32, two oil cups 61 are formed, so that when the protective shell rotates, the latter lift the oil and in this way absorb the moving parts of the device.
An axial bore 33 is provided in the outer end of the shaft 29 and a drive pin M passes through this shaft transversely to the bore 33.

Two regulator shafts 35 are rotatably mounted on the drive pin 34 by means of the bearing eyes 36.
The inner sides of the weights 35 facing the shaft 29 are slotted or recessed at 37 so that the regulators hold the shaft 29 in their closed position.
If the gear wheel 25 is set in rotation, the shaft 29, the pin 34 and, through the intermediary of the bearing eyes 36, the regulator weights 35 also participate in it. The latter are thrown outward as a result of the centrifugal force, the pin 34 serving as a fulcrum. The protective shell 32

the controller weights 35 sets a goal. The constriction or rib 38 is important, since otherwise the regulators 35 could lie so tightly against the inner wall of the bearing shell 32 that they cannot return to the closed position.
Each regulator weight 35 passes through a pin 39 protruding on both sides. These pins lie behind the bearing eyes 36 and in front of the center of gravity of each regulator weight. The pin ends are connected to one another by two tension springs 40 in such a way that the regulators 35 are secured under considerable spring tension in the closed position or ineffective positions.
In the bore 33 of the shaft 29, a second shaft 41 is mounted, the inner end of which is slotted at 42 so that the pin 34 protrudes through the slot 42. As a result of this design, the shaft 11 is always set in rotation, but can move freely in the longitudinal direction.
A bracket 43 is attached to the front end of the shaft 44, the rearwardly extending arms of which cooperate with two projections 44 arranged at the front end of the regulator weights 35.
A ball 45 is mounted in a recess at the front end of the shaft 41 and absorbs any thrust generated by the shaft 41.
The housing 46 is fastened to the front end of the disk 23 by means of its flange 47 and the screws 48. In the upper part of the housing 46, a transverse shaft 49 is rotatably mounted, to which an angle lever 50 is attached by means of a pin 51. One of the arms 51 of the angle lever 50 cooperates with the bearing ball 45, while its other arm 53, under the action of a compression spring 54, tends to rotate the shaft 49.
The spring 54 is arranged vertically in the housing 46 and is under the action of an adjusting screw 55 screwed into the latter and secured in its position by a nut 56. At the ends of the spring 54, washers 57 are arranged, which ensure the correct position between the spring and the Secure adjusting screw 55 or lever arm 53. At the end of the shaft 49, outside the housing 46, a lever 60 is attached, which is connected by means of a link 58 to a crank arm 59 formed at the front end of the actuating lever 22.
The controller works in the following way:
The gear wheel 25, which is driven by the motor-M at crankshaft speed, sets the shaft 29, the governor shaft 35, the shaft 41, the disk 43 and the bearing ball in rotation.
The springs 40 are tensioned, even when the regulator weights 35 are in the inoperative position, and tend to urge the latter against one another against the centrifugal force that occurs.
At a certain speed of rotation of the weights 35, the centrifugal force stored in the latter will overcome the resistance of the springs 40, and now the outward movement of the weights can take place, with a simultaneous forward movement of the disc 43 and the shaft 41. The ball 45 arranged in the shaft 41 rotates the angle lever 50 and the shaft 49, whereby the lever 22 is rotated by means of the lever 60 of the link 58 and the crank arm 59.
The regulator weights 35 are always held in the closed position up to a predetermined number of revolutions and are thrown into their extreme position when this speed is slightly exceeded, whereby the throttle valve is actuated by a very small excess of speed. This is of the utmost importance because if the regulator weights were gradually opened it would be impossible to ensure full opening of the throttle valve when the truck is operating in a fully loaded low gear. This desirable result depends on the position of the springs 40 relative to the drive pin 34.
During the outward movement of the regulator levers 35, the springs 40 are tensioned. This greater spring tension, however, is counteracted by the relatively stronger centrifugal force stored in the regulator weights, since these weights rotate at increased speed due to their larger diameter. The pins 39 are in front of the center of gravity of the weights 35 and influence the expansion of the springs 40 in such a way that the centrifugal force stored in the regulator weights,

force of springs 40.
This type of training allows the engine to work up to a certain number of revolutions at full throttling, which means that the highest performance can be obtained at all speeds up to the maximum permitted speed.
