X-ray tube.
In the case of X-ray tubes with liquid cooling, the sensor container was made of metal for reasons of strength. Such metal coolant containers must be reinforced with a glass, that is, relatively easily breakable standpipe in order to show the height of the liquid level in the coolant container, as is necessary. The risk of
EMI1.1
Exiting hot coolant is therefore indeed reduced in the known metal coolant containers - compared to the glass containers - but not eliminated.
A progress is achieved here according to the invention in that the coolant container is surrounded by a trough-like container, possibly attached to the anti-cathode cap of the X-ray tube, made of an unbreakable substance (e.g. metal) resistant to hot liquids and of such a shape and size that in the position of use of the X-ray tube, it is able to accommodate the liquid content of the coolant container. This means that if the coolant container, which is made entirely of glass or has only a glass standpipe, is damaged, no damage whatsoever can be caused to people in the vicinity of the X-ray tube by the hot coolant that escapes.
The new X-ray tube is shown in one embodiment in the figure, as far as it is possible, in a perspective view.
The coolant container a with the glass standpipe b is surrounded by the trough-like, optionally metal container c, which is attached to the anticathode cap d of the X-ray tube e (liquid-tight).
Another advantage of the protective container c is that it can be attached in a relatively simple manner to X-ray tubes with liquid cooling that are already in use.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. X-ray tube with liquid cooling, characterized by a trough-like container at least partially surrounding the coolant container made of unbreakable material resistant to hot liquids and of such shape and size that it is able to accommodate the liquid content of the coolant container when the X-ray tube is in use.
