Process for the preparation of highly effective extracts from the Ifeimdriisen.

<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Extract solutions are concentrated in vacuo at low temperature to about 50 ems, and 300 ems of acetone are added to the latter, and the mixture is cooled to -700 arJge. The resulting precipitate is filtered off with suction at low temperature and the residue is washed with acetone. The filtered acetone-ether solution can be freed from the solvent either directly or after being absorbed in olives or sesame oil in a vacuum.
Example 2: 1 leg of fresh placenta is ground with carbon dioxide snow and the solid powder obtained is extracted twice with 5 l of absolute alcohol each time. The combined, clear filtrates are concentrated in vacuo at 20-250 and the alcohol is removed under a flow of water
EMI2.1
Processed pure extract.
Example 3: 1 set of fresh ovaries are pretreated, as in Example 1, and the fine powder obtained at -20 with about 4-5 i! Acetone extracted several times. When the acetone evaporates at a low temperature in vacuo, a largely purified extract is obtained directly.
Example 4: 1400 g of fresh male gonads (bull) are deep-frozen with solid carbonic acid and ground. The grist is repeated with four times the amount of 95% alcohol cold
EMI2.2
medium mainly distilled off in vacuo, the alcohol finally driven off completely under the influx of water. The remaining aqueous emulsion is shaken out several times with ether and these ether solutions are combined with that obtained during the extraction of the organ residue. After removing the solvent, a yellowish, semi-solid, fatty mass is obtained. This shows physiological effects which are analogous to those of the lipoid fraction of the ovarian hormone.
Example 5: 1290 g of fresh bull testicles are pretreated with solid carbon dioxide as in Example 4. The ground organ mass is exhaustively extracted with weakly acidified (0.15% H2SO,;) 60% alcohol. The solutions are freed from alcohol by evaporation in vacuo and the remaining emulsion is extracted with ether. The aqueous solution is thus completely cleared. After neutralizing and expelling the dissolved ether, it gives the effects characteristic of the water-soluble testicular hormone, such as B. Stimulation of the intermediate metabolism, tonic influence on the nervous system, etc.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for the preparation of highly effective extracts from gonads, characterized in that the fresh organs are cooled to such low temperatures that they solidify and the same in this state, optionally with the addition of water-binding agents, pulverized, whereupon the organ powder obtained is extracted with solvents and the extract obtained in this way is purified in the usual way, if desired.
