Method for making a Pmug board.
It is known to produce plow mouldboards from so-called "soft-center" steel, consisting of a middle layer made of soft iron and two outer layers welded together with it, made of hardenable steel with a high carbon content.
In the drawing, Fig. 1 is a section of a part of a mouldboard made of soft-center "steel of a conventional design up to now, together with a part of the associated plow body to which the mouldboard is attached by screws (not shown). 1 is the plow body, which is made in a known manner Is made of cast iron or unhardened steel; 2 is the outer hardened layer of the mouldboard and 3 is the intermediate soft layer. The arrow indicates the direction of movement of the plow; the point 4 of the cut is thus on the cutting edge, which is the cutting edge of the mouldboard Representing passage through the ground.
The boundary surfaces 5 and 6 of the cutting part are exposed to considerable wear and tear during the use of the plow and since the layers of the mouldboard are very thin (only 2 or 2'5 mm each), the cutting edge becomes blunt and takes a while Shape which corresponds approximately to that shown in Fig. 2, which of course has the consequence that the plow requires a considerably greater pulling force.
The aim of the invention is to eliminate this disadvantage in that the cutting edge of the mouldboard is stiffened to the rear in order to achieve a greater depth, in such a way that the layered storage, hardened and unhardened material, present in the mouldboard is also maintained in the stiffening, while the material thickness of the individual layers increases. According to the invention, this is achieved in that a stiffening bead is produced on the rear side of the front cutting part of the half-finished moldboard by bending and upsetting the front edge of the half-finished moldboard.
The invention is illustrated in Figure 3 of the drawing. 7 is the plow body, 8 is the two hardened outer layers of the mouldboard and 9 is the intermediate soft layer. The stiffening bead on the front edge of the moldboard is created in that the front part of the moldboard half-finished product has been bent by about 45 degrees and then compressed by a pressure directed against the edge. Compared with the earlier known method, this upsetting has the advantage that the wear surface, into which the intermediate soft layer opens, has a significantly larger surface area and consists essentially of the permanent material of the two hardened outer layers.
