So besteht z.

Method and device for measuring the degree of evacuation of electrical discharge vessels.

Several methods have already been proposed for measuring the vacuum in cathode ray tubes. So there is z. B. one is that thermocouples are inserted into the vacuum to be examined and irradiated from the outside. As a result of the decrease in the vacuum, the thermal radiation to the thermocouples and, accordingly, the currents flowing through the thermocouple also decrease. A conclusion could be drawn from this as to the degree of vacuum achieved.

Another method took the following approach: Since electron emission goes hand in hand with the formation of positive and negative ions in an insufficient vacuum, the amount of positive ions would have to decrease with increasing venting, so that in a perfect vacuum they fail completely and only negative electrons are present are. The process was made visible by an ammeter connected to the anode circuit and could be seen as a vacuum

If an electron bombardment is not intended, i.e. the anode and the grid are degassed by other means, it is not necessary to leave the anode current switched on at all times, and it can be switched on briefly at appropriate time intervals to carry out the measurement of the hot cathode resistance.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for measuring the degree of evacuation of vacuum vessels with hot cathodes, in particular electrical discharge vessels, characterized in that the size of the resistance fluctuations of the hot cathode when the anode current is flowing is used as a measure of the evacuation.
