Abstract

Se da a conocer un método para formar un sustrato no tejido dispersable en un medio acuoso que contiene, consiste en, o consiste esencialmente en poner en contacto un sustrato fibroso no tejido con un aglutinante acuoso que contiene un polímero de emulsión que tiene un índice de polidispersidad de, al menos, un 10, un peso molecular promedio en peso de menos de 1.000.000 y de 8 por ciento por peso a 22 por ciento por peso de monómero de ácido, basado en el peso del polímero en emulsión. El aglutinante no tejido acuoso se puede preparar por un método que comprende las etapas de: a) polimerización en emulsión de, al menos, un monómero mono-etilénicamente insaturado y, al menos, un monómero de ácido en una solución acuosa usando un iniciador en el que el iniciador está presente en la solución acuosa en una cantidad en la gama de 0,5 por ciento por peso a 1,5 por ciento por peso, basado en el peso total de los monómeros, para formar el polímero en emulsión; y b) neutralizar el polímero en emulsión con un neutralizador seleccionado del grupo que consiste en una amina que tiene un pKb de 4 a 7, un hidróxido alcalino, y combinaciones de los mismos para formar el aglomerante no tejido acuoso. Los sustratos no tejidos dispersables se pueden utilizar para producir toallitas dispersables, tales como toallitas húmedas para bebé, toallitas de cuidado personal, toallitas de limpieza, o cualquier otra loción que contenga un no tejido húmedo que tenga un pH por debajo de 5 ó 6.
