Abstract
Un proceso para lixiviar a un valor metálico desde un mineral sulfurado de metal base, que comprende el paso de lixiviar al mineral con un lixiviador que comprende un cloruro, un oxidante y ácido hidroclórico. Se controla la lixiviación mediante el uso de bajas cantidades de ácido hidroclórico y del potencial redox, para efectuar la formación de hidrógeno sulfurado desde el mineral sulfurado de metal base. Se agota el hidrógeno sulfurado generado en la solución de lixiviación, reduciendo así a muy bajos niveles, la cantidad de sulfato generado. También puede conducirse la lixiviación para limitar la co-disolución con los metales base, del oro y de los metales del grupo del platino. La lixiviación forma un lixiviado rico en valores metálicos y un residuo sólido. El residuo sólido puede lixiviarse después, para recuperar al oro y a los metales del grupo del platino. El lixiviado rico en valores metálicos puede oxidarse y neutralizarse, para recuperar los valores de metal base. En una modalidad, el cloruro es cloruro de magnesio y se regenera la solución lixiviadora.
