Abstract
Un método para el hidroformado de alta velocidad de un miembro de chasis vehicular, que incluye proveer un miembro hueco tubular y una matriz que tiene una cavidad interior de matriz. El miembro tubular es posicionado dentro de la cavidad de la matriz y llenado con un fluido. Es creada una onda de choque dentro del fluido, con lo cual se causa la formación hiperplástica del metal tubular de modo de expandirlo hacia fuera en conformidad con la forma de la cavidad de la matriz. La onda de choque puede ser creada mediante la descarga de un arco eléctrico entre un par de electrodos sumergidos en el fluido. Los extremos del miembro tubular pueden ser movidos hacia el interior de la cavidad de la matriz durante la expansión de manera de obtener paredes con un espesor sustancialmente constante en el miembro tubular deformado.
