Abstract

Un método para comprimir una imagen digital, y una disposicion para llevar a la práctica dicho método. Se reivindica un sistema y método para la compresion de imágenes, basada en la calidad, en los cuales se utilizan bloques y sub-bloques adaptivamente dimensionados en magnitud, de coeficientes de datos de transformada discreta de coseno, y un factor de escala de cuantizacion basado en la calidad. Un elemento de asignacion de magnitud a los bloques, en un elemento codificador, selecciona el bloque o sub-bloque de un bloque de entrada de datos de pixel a ser procesados. Los bloques con varianzas superiores a un umbral son subdivididos, mientras que los bloques con varianzas inferiores a un umbral no son subdivididos. Un elemento de transformada transforma los valores de pixel de los bloques seleccionados en el dominio de las frecuencias. Los valores del dominio de las frecuencias son cuantizados sea en una base de bloque por bloque sea en una base de marco por marco, utilizándose un factor de escala que se correlaciona con la calidad de la imagen. Los datos son seguidamente serializados y codificados en preparacion para su transmision.
