Abstract

Nuevas composiciones en emulsion o de látex que contienen monomeros plastificantes internos y entrecruzables derivados de aceites semi-secantes o no-secantes tradicionales. Los monomeros son ésteres con insaturacion etilénica de compuestos olefínicos de cadena larga. Las realizaciones preferidas incluyenlátex formados a partir de ésteres de acrilato y metracrilato de ésteres de ácidos grasos hidroxilados derivados de aceite de ricino o aceite de lesquerella.También se revela un proceso para la s íntesis de la composicion de látex que incluye (a) una reaccion de esterificacion de un ácido carboxílico coninsaturacion etilénica o sus derivados, con un compuesto olefínico de cadena larga hidroxilado sustituido, (b) la polimerizacion subsiguiente del éster coninsaturacion etilénica de un compuesto olefínico de cadena larga así formado, en una fase acuosa con por lo menos un monomero copolimerizable diferente; y (c)mezclar el polímero así formado con por lo menos un secante y un tensioactivo para formar las nuevas composiciones de látex o en emulsion. Estas composicionesforman películas a bajas temperaturas mínimas de formacion de película (TMF) en el rango de -5 a 10 degree C y curan a polímeros con temperatura de transicion vítrea(Tg) por en cima de la temperatura ambiente sin el uso de co-solventes orgánicos, los que contribuyen a la contaminacion ambiental vía emision de compuestosorgánicos volátiles (COVs). Estas composiciones son por lo tanto utles en recubrimientos de base aucosa, a dhesivos de contacto y sensibles a la presion, ytintas.
