Abstract

Un recubrimiento para cables que puede proteger al cable contra impactos accidentales. Insertando en la estructura de un cable de transmision de energía unrecubrimiento adecuado de material de polímero expandido de espesor adecuado, preferentementee n contacto con la vaina de recubrimiento de polímero exterior,es posible obtener un cable que tiene una alta resistencia al impacto. El solicitante ha observado además que un material de polímero expandido usado comorecubrimiento para cablespermite obtener una mayor resistencia al impacto para este cable que si se usa un recubrimiento similar basado en el mismo polímerono expandido. Un cable con un recubrimiento de este tipo tiene varias ventajas con respecto a un cable convencionalcon revesti miento metálico, tal como, porejemplo, mayor facilidad de procesamiento, reduccion de peso y dimensiones del cable terminado y un menor impacto ambiental con respecto al reciclado del cableuna vez que ha finalizado su vida util. Unmétodo para impart ir resistencia al impacto a un cable de transmision de energía, uso de un material de polímeroexpandido para impartir resistencia al impacto a un cable de transmision de energía y un método para evaluar la resistencia al impactode un cable quecompre nde por lo menos una capa de recubrimiento aislante.
