Abstract

Un lubricante, destinado a aplicaciones en las cuales existen engranajes exteriores, compuesto por una base lubricante la cual comprende una cantidadimportante de un aceite vegetal que oscila entre 50 y 80% en peso y una cantidad menor deun lubricante inorgánico solido de entre 15 y 30% en peso, ellubricante es espesado con un gelificante organoarcilloso biodegradable en una cantidad entre 2 y 8% en peso. La sustancia para la base de aceite vegetalpuede ser seleccionada entredistin tos materiales que comprenden a los aceites de canola, linaza, castor, girasol, maíz y soja, todos los cuales exhibenun alto grado de biodegradabilidad y son abundantes. El aceite vegetal es mezclado con un lubricante inorgánico solidoselecci onado de acuerdo a lascondiciones de operacion específicas del producto entre una continuacion de negro de carbon y grafito, carbonato de calcio, fosfato tricálcico yhidroxido de calcio. El espesador preferido es un gelificanteorganoarcilloso biodegradable como por ejemplo Baragel 10 (una organoarcilla comercializadapor Rheox Inc.), o bien arcillas tales como montmorillonita y hectorita. El lubricante puede comprender cantidades menores de aditivos seleccionadosentreactivadores po lares, plasticizadores, aditivos anti-desgaste/de resistencia a presiones extremas y desactivadores metálicos. Dicho lubricante resultaadecuado en equipos para explotaciones mineras, levas oscilantes, y ruedas y cambiavíaspara ferrocarriles.
