Abstract
Un cátodo en el que la capa externa electrocatalíticamente activa tiene un espesor substancialmente uniforme y tiene contornos que son por lo menossustancialmente iguales a los contornos del sustrato, está inmediatamente subyacente al mismo. El electrodo puede prepararse por deposición de la capaexterna electrocatalíticamente activa mediante deposición con vapor. La capa externa electrocatalíticamente activa comprende (a) cerio y/o óxido de cerio ypor lo menos un metal no noble del grupo 8 o (b) platino y/o óxido de platino y rutenio y/o óxido de rutenio. Se da a conocer además un método para preparardicho cátodo, una celda que lo comprende y un método de electrolísis llevado a cabo en dicha celda.
