Abstract

608,980. Electromagnetic interrupters; switch bases and covers. CHESNEY, E. ST. J. March 4, 1946, No. 6613. [Class 38 (v)] A vibrator c is enclosed in an evacuated glass envelope a. An extension c of the envelope encloses a fixed iron core f and is surrounded by a driver coil g. The vibrator rests on an iron tray h which may be secured in position by a glass ring beneath it sealed to the envelope or, as shown, by being pressed against fixed projections k by springs d which form the electrical connections to the vibrator. The whole is surrounded by an iron sheath i which serves as a screen to prevent radiation from the vibrator and also completes the magnetic circuit through the core f, vibrator and tray h. The vibrator is de-gassed by inductive heating.
