Abstract

617,973. Transformers. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Feb. 27, 1946, No. 6063. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1945. [Class 38 (ii)] A transformer adapted particularly for television circuits comprises a pair of spaced parallel plates 12, 14 of insulating material surrounded by a magnetic core 22 which is provided with a leg projecting through opposed apertures in the plates and carrying magnetically coupled windings 29-31, the rigid spacing of the plates being assisted by the mounting of a valve holder 33 between them, either with or without the provision of a further spacing member comprising a terminal support 52 extending between the plates and below the valve holder. The coil assembly comprises a tubular support 28 of insulating material, Fig. 2 (not shown), held in position around the core by wedges inserted between them and, as shown, the assembly comprises a primary winding 29, secondary winding 30, and a high voltage winding 29. The axial spacing of the windings is of the order of their axial thickness to facilitate cooling, and the turns of the conductors comprising the respective windings are arranged to weave axially from one side to the other as they progress around the winding. A single turn of heavily insulated cable 94 passing partly around the coil support is connected to heater or filament terminals 91, 92 on the valve holder, which is carried in brackets 34, 35 secured to the frame plates 12, 14.
