Abstract

[Class 81 (ii).] Apparatus for administering high-frequency currents comprises an induction coil provided with a make-and-break device a a contact electrode e<5> having its contact connected with the secondary circuit through a gap located in a vacuum or through a dielectric for preventing direct connection with the secondary circuit, a condenser e<2> disposed between the primary and secondary windings a, e, and a switch d in the primary circuit adapted to be operated by the contact electrode. As shown in Fig. 2, the contact electrode e<5> comprises an evacuated glass vessel provided with a metal cover e<7> connected to a terminal. within the vessel and with a terminal e4 connected to a contact e<8>. Alternatively, the chamber e<5> may contain inert gas, or may be filled with tinsel or liquid, the glass being used as the dielectric. Depression of the contact electrode moves the plunger e<9>, and the switch d, thereby closing the primary circuit, and simultaneously connects the contact electrode to the secondary circuit. The plunger e<9> and its socket e<10> are insulated from the switch arm d. The secondary circuit is completed through a neon electrode f coupled through a condenser f<2> to any suitable point of the circuit, preferably at the make-and-brake device. A safety spark gap g, and a switch all for rendering the apparatus suitable for different mains voltages, are provided. A condenser c is connected across the make-and-break device.
