Furthermore, at least a portion of the operating unit is a transparent portion formed using a transparent material. Information on the display unit can be viewed through the transparent portion. This configuration eliminates the need to provide the display unit on the operating unit. This makes it possible to prevent the shift device from becoming too complicated in structure.

As shown in Figure 11, the length of the notch 163 in the board 162 in the front-to-rear direction is greater than the length of the magnet mounting portion 147 in the front-to-rear direction, and the shape is such that the magnet mounting portion 147 does not come into contact with the board 162 even when the transmission part 130 moves in the front-to-rear direction.

In contrast, the second magnet 126 is attached so that its north pole is on the left side and its south pole is on the right side. • the length of the pushing portion 190 in the up-to-down direction is also slightly smaller than the hook portion 120 of the operating unit 116. Therefore, the pushing portion 190 can be inserted into the hook portion 120 of the operating unit 116. Furthermore, by inserting the pushing portion 190 into the hook portion 120 with the operating unit 116 attached to the support portion 134, the pushing portion 190 can push the protrusion 136 (more specifically, the claw portion 137) inward in the left-to-right direction.

The worker then places the rear surface of the guide 188 against the front surface of the fitting portion 118. The worker can sense the contact between the guide 188 and the fitting portion 118 through touch. Then, with the rear surface of the guide 188 in contact with the front surface of the fitting portion 118, the worker sandwiches the pair of handles 182 and inserts the pushing portion 190 into the hook portion 120. In this state, the pushing portion 190 pushes in the claw portion 137 as described above, and the engagement between the claw portion 137 and the hook portion 120 is released. Description
