Abstract
본 발명은 불연성 물질을 포함하는 코어, 상기 코어를 피복하며 무기물 나노입자 및 수용성 고분자를 포함하는 제1 쉘층, 및 상기 제1 쉘층을 피복하며 고분자를 포함하는 제2 쉘층을 포함하는 소화용 마이크로캡슐, 이의 제조방법 및 이를 포함하는 소화용 조성물에 대한 것이다.
Description
본 발명은 화재 진압을 위한 소화용 마이크로캡슐, 이의 제조방법 및 이를 포함하는 소화용 조성물에 대한 것이다.
마이크로캡슐화 기술은 액체상 또는 고체상의 내부 물질을 유기물 또는 무기물 등으로 감싸 일종의 캡슐을 제조하는 기술로 내부 물질의 선택적 방출이나 습도, 압력, 온도 등 외부 환경의 자극으로부터 내부 물질을 보호하기 위해 사용되는 기술이다. 마이크로캡슐화 기술의 대표적인 예로는 코아세르베이션 방법과 계면중합법, in-situ 방법 등이 있으며, 각 방법은 내부 물질의 물리·화학적 특성이나 외벽 물질과의 상호작용을 고려하여 선택된다.
마이크로캡슐은 민감한 물질을 열화 과정으로부터 보호하고, 활성 물질의 제어된 방출수단으로서 작용하는 등 다양한 장점을 가져 의약품, 화장품, 도료, 인쇄 전자, 소방 기술 등 다양한 분야에서 기반기술로 사용되고 있으며, 특히, 소방 기술과 관련해 젤라틴 등 폴리머로 이루어진 외벽과 소화 약제를 심재(Core material)로 포함하는 마이크로캡슐을 이용한 화재 진압용 소화용 조성물이 알려져 있다.
하지만, 종래 기술에 따른 소화용 마이크로캡슐의 젤라틴과 같은 폴리머 기반 외벽은 기계적 강도가 무기물 기반 외벽을 가진 마이크로캡슐에 비해 떨어지며 내부 물질의 유실 또한 상대적으로 큰 편이며, 열전도도가 떨어진다는 단점을 갖고 있다. 이러한 낮은 열전도도는 화재 시 발생하는 열전달을 지연시켜 빠른 소화작용을 방해는 요소로 작용하므로 반드시 개선이 필요한 부분이다. 또한, 낮은 기계적 안정성은 고분자 시트 등의 추가적인 지지체 물질을 필요로 하며 단독으로 활용되기 어렵다는 단점을 갖는다. 또한, 실제 화재가 발생하는 장소에서 발화 시점 및 온도는 완전히 동일하지 않다는 점을 고려할 때, 일정한 온도에서 내부물질이 분출되는 기존의 작동방식은 다양한 영역에서의 화재를 예방하는 데 어려움을 갖는다.
본 발명은 상기한 바와 같은 종래 기술의 문제점을 해결하고자 하는 것으로서, 종래 기술에 따른 소화용 마이크로캡슐과 비교해 향상된 기계적 안정성을 가질 뿐만 아니라, 화재시 작동 온도 범위를 조절하는 것이 가능한 소화용 마이크로캡슐, 이의 제조방법 및 이를 포함하는 소화용 조성물을 제공하는 것을 그 목적으로 한다.
상기 기술적 과제를 달성하기 위해, 본 발명은 불연성 물질을 포함하는 코어, 상기 코어를 피복하며, 무기물 나노입자 및 수용성 고분자를 포함하는 제1 쉘층, 및 상기 제1 쉘층을 피복하며 고분자를 포함하는 제2 쉘층을 포함하는 소화용 마이크로캡슐을 제안한다.
도 1은 본 발명에 따른 소화용 마이크로캡슐의 일례에 대한 단면 모식도로서, 해당 소화용 마이크로캡슐은 액상 불연성 물질로 이루어진 코어, 상기 코어 상에 형성되며 무기물 나노 입자를 포함하는 고분자 기반 유무기 복합 외벽인 제1 쉘층, 및 상기 제1 쉘층 상에 형성되며 고분자를 기반으로 이루어진 외벽인 제2 쉘층으로 구성될 수 있다.
상기 코어를 이루는 불연성 물질로는 메톡시노나플루오로부탄(methoxynonafluorobutane), 디브로모메탄(dibromomethane), 메톡시햅타플루오르화 프로판(methoxyheptafluoropropane) 등을 예로 들 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다.
상기 코어 표면의 전부 또는 일부를 피복하는 제1 쉘층은 이산화티탄(TiO2), 실리카(SiO2) 및 알루미나(Al2O3) 등의 무기물로 이루어진 나노입자가 수용성 고분자 매트릭스에 분산된 구조를 가지는 유무기 하이브리드 외벽인 것이 바람직하며, 이때, 상기 무기물 나노입자는 그 표면에 아크릴기가 도입될 수 있다.
상기 제1 쉘층의 고분자 매트릭스를 구성하는 수용성 고분자는 젤라틴, 키토산, 키틴, 펙틴, 로커스트콩검, 젤란검, 알긴산, 한천, 카라기난, 콜라겐, 히알루론산, 구아검, 에틸셀룰로오스, 메틸셀룰로오스, 카르복시메틸셀룰로오스 및 폴리아크릴산으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 어느 하나 또는 둘 이상의 혼합물일 수 있으나, 반드시 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다.
한편, 상기 제1 쉘층의 전부 또는 일부를 피복하는 고분자 기반의 제2 쉘층은 요소 포름알데히드(urea formaldehyde) 수지 또는 레조시놀 포름알데하이드(resorcinol formaldehyde) 수지로 이루어질 수 있으나, 반드시 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다.
그리고, 본 발명은 발명의 다른 측면에서 상기 소화용 마이크로캡슐의 제조방법으로서, (a) 불연성 물질, 무기물 나노입자 및 수용성 고분자를 포함하는 에멀젼을 제조하는 단계, (b) 상기 에멀젼에 pH 조절제를 첨가해 에멀젼의 pH를 조절한 후에 가교제를 첨가하고 교반해, 불연성 물질을 포함하는 코어와 무기물 나노입자 및 수용성 고분자를 포함하는 제1 쉘층으로 이루어진 마이크로캡슐을 제조하는 단계, 및 (c) 상기 마이크로캡슐의 제1 쉘층 상에 고분자를 포함하는 제2 쉘층을 형성하는 단계;를 포함하는, 소화용 마이크로캡슐의 제조방법을 제안한다.
상기 단계 (a)에서는 코어에 포함되는 불연성 물질, 제1 쉘층에 포함되는 무기물 나노입자 및 수용성 고분자를 포함하는 에멀젼을 제조한다.
다음으로, 상기 단계 (b)에서는 상기 단계 (a)에서 제조된 에멀젼에 아세트산(acetic acid) 수용액 등의 pH 조절제를 첨가해 에멀젼의 pH를 조절한 후에, 글루타알데히드(glutaraldehyde), 포름알데히드(formaldehyde), 트랜스글루타미나아제(transglutaminase), 탄닌산(tannic acid) 및 명반(alum) 등으로부터 선택되는 가교제를 첨가하고 교반해 반응을 유도함으로써 코어와 제1 쉘층으로 이루어지는 마이크로캡슐을 제조한다.
이어서, 상기 단계 (c)에서는 상기 단계 (b)에서 제조된 코어/제1 쉘층의 구조를 가지는 마이크로캡슐이 분산된 용액에 제2 쉘층 형성용 고분자 전구체, 분산 안정제, 염산 등의 산 촉매를 혼합하고 반응을 유도해, 제1 쉘층의 전부 또는 일부를 피복하는 제2 쉘층을 형성시킨다.
이때, 상기 고분자 전구체는 제2 쉘층을 구성하는 고분자에 맞춰 선택될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 요소 포름알데히드(urea formaldehyde) 수지로 이루어진 제2 쉘층을 형성시키기 위한 고분자 전구체는 요소 및 포름알데히드이고, 레조시놀 포름알데하이드(resorcinol formaldehyde) 수지로 이루어진 제2 쉘층을 형성시키기 위한 고분자 전구체는 레조시놀 및 포름알데하이드일 수 있다.
또한, 상기 분산 안정제는 폴리비닐피롤리돈(polyvinyl pyrrolidone) 또는 세트리모늄브로마이드 (Cetrimonium bromide)일 수 있으나, 반드시 이로 제한되는 것은 아니다.
나아가, 본 발명은 발명의 또 다른 측면에서 상기 소화용 마이크로캡슐 및 바인더를 포함하는 소화용 조성물을 제안한다.
이때, 상기 바인더는 실리콘 고무, 니트로셀룰로오즈, 폴리프로필렌, 폴리에틸렌, 폴리스타이렌, 폴리염화비닐, 폴리우레탄, 폴리아미드, 멜라민수지, 이소시아네이트수지, 페놀 포름알데히드, 요소 포름알데히드 및 멜라민 포름알데히드로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 어느 하나 또는 둘 이상의 혼합물일 수 있으나, 반드시 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다.
본 발명에 따른 소화용 마이크로캡슐에 있어서 심재(core)인 액상의 불연성 소화 약제를 감싸 캡슐화하는 유기 고분자-무기물로 이루어진 외벽(제1 쉘)은 고분자로만 이루어진 외벽보다 견고할 뿐만 아니라 열전도도가 높아 외부 온도 상승에 대한 빠른 반응이 가능하다. 또한, 상기 제1 쉘은 열전도도가 다른 다양한 무기물을 포함함으로써 소화용 마이크로캡슐의 동작 온도 범위를 조절할 수 있다.

선행 기술과 같이 젤라틴과 같은 폴리머 기반 외벽의 경우 기계적 강도가 무기물 기반 외벽을 가진 미세캡슐에 비해 떨어지며 내부물질의 유실 또한 상대적으로 큰 편이며, 열전도도가 떨어진다는 단점을 갖고 있다. 낮은 열전도도는 화재 시 발생하는 열전달을 지연시켜 빠른 소화작용을 방해는 요소로 작용하므로 반드시 개선이 필요한 부분이다. 또한, 낮은 기계적 안정성은 고분자 시트 등의 추가적인 지지체 물질을 필요로 하며 단독으로 활용되기 어렵다는 단점을 갖는다. 또한 실제 화재가 발생하는 장소에서 발화 시점 및 온도는 완전히 동일하지 않다는 점을 고려할 때, 일정한 온도에서 내부물질이 분출되는 기존의 작동방식은 다양한 영역에서의 화재를 예방하는 데 어려움을 갖는다.
본 발명에서는 이를 해결하기 위해 열전도도가 서로 상이한 나노 무기물을 첨가하여 캡슐을 제조한다. 나노 무기물은 내부 물질인 할로겐계 난연제의 0.1 ~ 10 중량%를 포함하며 그 크기가 수십 나노미터에서 수 마이크로미터 수준에 이른다. 복합캡슐의 제조 과정은 무기물을 포함하는 안정한 젤라틴 등 수용성 폴리머 에멀션 용액의 제조 단계와 pH 조절에 따른 고분자간 정전기적 인력에 따른 유·무기 복합 쉘의 형성 단계, 폴리머 중합체 및 공중합체에 의한 2차벽 형성 단계, 마지막으로 복합 캡슐의 여과 및 건조 단계로 구분된다.
실시예 1: 젤라틴-이산화티탄-육메타인산염 미세캡슐의 제조
이산화티탄 파우더 2.0 ~ 20 g 을 무수 에탄올 100 ml에 넣은 후 1시간 동안 초음파 처리를 하여 분산시킨다. 0.3 g의 트라이메톡사일프로필메타아크릴레이트(이하 A174)를 무수 에탄올 20 ml에 넣고 40 ~ 50 ℃로 가열하여 교반한다. 이산화티탄 입자의 고분산 현탁액에 준비한 A174 용액을 넣고 70 ~ 80 ℃로 가열한 후 3시간 동안 교반한다. 원심분리와 세척작업을 통해 미세캡슐 제조에 사용할 부분 소수성 무기물질을 준비한다.
준비된 무기물질을 용도에 따라 0.02 ~ 2.0 g을 증류수 100 mL에 분산시킨다. 염기 처리된 젤라틴 4.5 g을 이산화티탄 현탁액에 넣고 50 ~ 60 ℃로 가열하여 균질상의 혼탁액을 얻는다. 혼탁액에 15 mL의 할로겐계 불연성 물질(메톡시노나플루오로부탄)을 넣고 500 ~ 800 rpm으로 교반시켜 에멀션을 얻는다. 에멀션 용액에 0.6 중량%의 육메타인산염 수용액 50 mL를 천천히 넣고 10분 간 교반한 후 10% 아세트산 용액으로 pH를 4.6 ~ 4.7까지 낮춘다. 이후 냉각순환수조를 이용하여 용액의 온도를 5℃로 낮추어 냉각한 후 50 중량% 글루타릭알데하이드 2.5 mL를 분당 0.05 mL의 속도로 천천히 넣어주면서 교반한다. 온도를 35도로 승온시킨 후 폴리비닐피로리돈 0.2g을 첨가한 후 10분간 교반한다. 이후 1 g의 요소와 2.44 g의 폼알데하이드 용액을 넣은 다음, 35 ~ 37 % 염산 용액을 넣어 pH 1.5~2.0으로 조절 후 3시간동안 반응시킨다. 혼탁액을 여과하고 상온에서 건조하여 미세캡슐 분말을 얻는다.
실시예 2: 젤라틴- 실리카-육메타인산염 미세캡슐의 제조
친수성 건식 실리카 파우더 0.1 ~ 10 g 을 증류수와 무수 에탄올 1:1 혼합액 150 ml에 넣은 후 1시간 동안 초음파 처리를 하여 분산시킨다. 0.5 g의 트라이메톡사일프로필메타아크릴레이트(이하 A174)를 증류수와 무수 에탄올 1:1 혼합액 50 ml에 넣고 40 ~ 50 ℃로 가열하여 교반한다. 건식 실리카 입자의 고분산 현탁액에 준비한 A174 용액을 넣고 70 ~ 80 ℃로 가열한 후 3시간 동안 교반한다. 원심분리와 세척작업을 통해 미세캡슐 제조에 사용할 부분 소수성 무기물질을 준비한다.
준비된 무기물질을 용도에 따라 0.02 ~ 2.0 g을 증류수 100 mL에 분산시킨다. 염기 처리된 젤라틴 4.5 g을 실리카 현탁액에 넣고 50 ~ 60℃로 가열하여 균질상의 혼탁액을 얻는다. 혼탁액에 15 mL의 할로겐계 불연성 물질(메톡시노나플루오로부탄)을 넣고 500 ~ 8000 rpm으로 교반시켜 에멀션을 얻는다. 에멀션 용액에 0.6 중량%의 육메타인산염 수용액 50 mL를 천천히 넣고 10분 간 교반한 후 10% 아세트산 용액으로 pH를 4.3까지 낮춘다. 이후 냉각순환수조를 이용하여 용액의 온도를 5℃로 낮추어 냉각한 후 25 중량% 글루타릭알데하이드 5 mL를 분당 0.1 mL의 속도로 천천히 넣어주면서 교반한다. 온도를 40도로 승온시킨 후 세트리모늄브로마이드 0.1g을 첨가한 후 10분간 교반한다. 이후 0.5 g의 레조시놀과 2.44 g의 폼알데하이드 용액을 넣은 다음, 35 ~ 37 % 염산 용액을 넣어 pH 1.5~2.0으로 조절 후 3시간동안 반응시킨다. 혼탁액을 여과하고 상온에서 건조하여 미세캡슐 분말을 얻는다.
실시예 3: 젤라틴- 알루미나-육메타인산염 미세캡슐의 제조
친수성 알루미나 파우더 0.02 ~ 2.0 g을 증류수 100 mL에 분산시킨다. 염기 처리된 젤라틴 4.5 g을 실리카 현탁액에 넣고 50 ~ 60℃로 가열하여 균질상의 혼탁액을 얻는다. 혼탁액에 15 mL의 할로겐계 불연성 물질(메톡시노나플루오로부탄)을 넣고 500 ~ 8000 rpm으로 교반시켜 에멀션을 얻는다. 에멀션 용액에 0.6 중량%의 육메타인산염 수용액 50 mL를 분당 5ml의 속도로 주입하고10분 간 교반한 후 0.1 몰농도의 염산 용액으로 pH를 4.3까지 낮춘다. 이후 냉각순환수조를 이용하여 용액의 온도를 5℃로 낮추어 냉각한 후 25 중량% 글루타릭알데하이드 5 mL를 분당 0.1 mL의 속도로 천천히 넣어주면서 교반한다. 온도를 40도로 승온시킨 후 폴리비닐피로리돈 0.5 g을 첨가한 후 10분간 교반한다. 이후 1.875 g의 요소와 4.16 mL의 폼알데하이드 용액을 넣은 다음, 1.0 몰농도의 염산 용액을 넣어 pH 1.5~2.0으로 조절 후 3시간동안 반응시킨다. 혼탁액을 여과하고 상온에서 건조하여 미세캡슐 분말을 얻는다.
도 3은 본원 실시예 1에서 제조된 마이크로캡슐의 주사전자현미경 (Scanning Electron Microscope, SEM) 이미지이다.
도 4는 본원 실시예 1 내지 3 각각에서 제조된 마이크로캡슐에 대한 열중량 분석 (Thermogravimetric analysis, TGA) 결과로서, 본원 실시예에 따른 마이크로캡슐이 포함된 무기물 종류에 따라 동작 온도가 상이함을 보여준다.
도 5는 본원 실시예 1에서 제조된 마이크로캡슐 외벽에 대한 X선 형광 분광분석 (X-ray fluorescence) 결과이다.
도 6은 본원 실시예 1 내지 3 각각에서 제조된 마이크로캡슐에 대한 45일 간 중량 변화를 나타낸 결과이다.
본 결과는 마이크로캡슐 외벽의 안정성을 보여주며, 내부 물질이 장기간 보관에도 불구하고 유실되지 않음을 보여준다.
도 7은 본원 실시예 1에서 제조된 마이크로캡슐의 실험실 규모에서의 화재 진압실험 결과이다.
도 8(a) 내지 도 8(c)는 본원 실시예 1 내지 3 각각에서 제조된 마이크로캡슐의 외벽에 대한 에너지 분산형 분광분석법 (EDS-mapping) 이미지이다.
좌측 이미지는 캡슐 외벽 고분자 매트릭스의 전자현미경 (SEM)이미지이며, 중간 이미지는 탄소 원자가 나타내는 위치로 고분자 매트릭스임을 보여준다. 우측 이미지는 무기물(TiO2, SiO2 또는 Al2O3) 입자들과 고분자가 각각 외벽층을 구성하는 것이 아니라 무기물 입자들이 고분자 매트릭스 내에 고르게 분산되어 있음을 보여준다.
본 발명은 상기 실시예들에 한정되는 것이 아니라 서로 다른 다양한 형태로 제조될 수 있으며, 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자는 본 발명의 기술적 사상이나 필수적인 특징을 변경하지 않고서 다른 구체적인 형태로 실시될 수 있다는 것을 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 그러므로 이상에서 기술한 실시예들은 모든 면에서 예시적인 것이며 한정적이 아닌 것으로 이해해야만 한다.
<부호의 설명>
1 : 액상 불연성 물질(코어)
2 : 무기물 나노 입자를 포함하는 고분자 기반 유무기 복합 외벽(제1 쉘층)
3 : 고분자 물질 기반 외벽(제2 쉘층)
본 발명에 따른 소화용 마이크로캡슐은 심재(core)인 액상의 불연성 소화 약제를 감싸 캡슐화하는 유기 고분자-무기물로 이루어진 외벽(제1 쉘)을 구비함으로써, 외부 온도 상승에 대한 빠른 반응이 가능하고 동작 온도 범위 조절이 가능한 소화용 마이크로캡슐을 구현할 수 있다.
Claims (8)
- 불연성 물질을 포함하는 코어;상기 코어를 피복하며, 무기물 나노입자 및 수용성 고분자를 포함하는 제1 쉘층; 및상기 제1 쉘층을 피복하며 고분자를 포함하는 제2 쉘층;을 포함하는 소화용 마이크로캡슐.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 불연성 물질은 메톡시노나플루오로부탄, 디브로모메탄, 메톡시햅타플루오르화 프로판로부터 선택되는 어느 하나 또는 둘 이상의 혼합물인 것을 특징으로 하는 소화용 마이크로캡슐.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 무기물 나노입자는 이산화티탄(TiO2), 실리카(SiO2) 및 알루미나(Al2O3)로부터 선택되는 어느 하나 또는 둘 이상의 혼합물로 이루어진 것을 특징으로 하는 소화용 마이크로캡슐.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 무기물 나노입자는 아크릴기로 개질된 표면을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 소화용 마이크로캡슐.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 수용성 고분자는 젤라틴, 키토산, 키틴, 펙틴, 로커스트콩검, 젤란검, 알긴산, 한천, 카라기난, 콜라겐, 히알루론산, 구아검, 에틸셀룰로오스, 메틸셀룰로오스, 카르복시메틸셀룰로오스 및 폴리아크릴산으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 어느 하나 또는 둘 이상의 혼합물인 것을 특징으로 하는 소화용 마이크로캡슐.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 제2 쉘은 요소 포름알데히드(urea formaldehyde) 수지 또는 레조시놀 포름알데하이드(resorcinol formaldehyde) 수지를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 소화용 마이크로캡슐.
- (a) 불연성 물질, 무기물 나노입자 및 수용성 고분자를 포함하는 에멀젼을 제조하는 단계;(b) 상기 에멀젼에 pH 조절제를 첨가해 에멀젼의 pH를 조절한 후에 가교제를 첨가하고 교반해, 불연성 물질을 포함하는 코어와 무기물 나노입자 및 수용성 고분자를 포함하는 제1 쉘층으로 이루어진 마이크로캡슐을 제조하는 단계; 및(c) 상기 마이크로캡슐의 제1 쉘층 상에 고분자를 포함하는 제2 쉘층을 형성하는 단계;를 포함하는,제1항 내지 제6항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 소화용 마이크로캡슐의 제조방법.
- 제1항 내지 제6항 중 어느 한 항에 따른 소화용 마이크로캡슐 및 바인더를 포함하는 소화용 조성물.
