More specifically, the present invention relates in a first aspect to a mixing apparatus. In a second aspect the present invention relates to a use of the mixing apparatus of the first aspect. In its third aspect the present invention provides a method for mixing materials by employing the mixing apparatus of the first aspect of the present invention.
- cementitious materials are being used for various purposes for the construction of different types of structures, such as buildings.
- Such cementitious materials may for example be concrete or mortar.
- Concrete for pouring is a 15 mixture of cement sand/grit and water and stones having a predetermined size.
- Mortar is a mixture of cement, sand/grit and water.
- concrete usually is employed for large scale pouring work, such as pouring of a foundation of a building
- mortar is often used for binding together building materials on a smaller scale, such as for building a brick wall or for plastering a wall.
- Other materials used for construction work may be tile mortar or adhesives 20 for use with tiles, or rubber granulates admixed with various adhesive products.
- a common feature of concrete and mortar is that a thorough admixing is required in order to achieve a homogenous mixture and hence the desired strength of the final cured material.
- various types of mixing apparatuses are known.
- One type of mixing apparatus is in the form of a container which is rotationally symmetrical 25 and having an opening and which is suspended on a frame so that the opening is slanted upwardly.
- An electric motor provides for rotation of the container whereby the material, which is being mixed in the container, continuously is being agitated and thereby mixed.
- Another type of mixing apparatus comprises a stationary container with an upper opening, and which is being suspended on a frame.
- An electric motor is arranged on the frame and this 30 motor drives one or more agitator arms, which thereby can be brought into rotational movement in the interior of the container.
- a mixing apparatus which has not been cleaned will not be able to thoroughly mix the materials homogeneously. Herby the concrete/mortar will not attain its intended strength of the concrete/mortar.
- a shielding at the top of mixing apparatuses is often manufactured as a steel grating to which splashes of materials likewise will adhere, such as splashes of concrete which then forms layer upon layer that may not easily be removed.
- splashes of materials likewise will adhere, such as splashes of concrete which then forms layer upon layer that may not easily be removed.
- safety is impaired because cleaning typically will decompose the grating and because these layer upon layer of cured material on the shielding will prevent monitoring the nature of the mixture in the mixing container.
