본 발명은 박형 강화 유리 및 그 제조방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명은 본 발명에 따른 박형 강화 유리의 표면압축응력(Compressive Stress, CS)과 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile Stress, CT)의 비율인 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)은 2.0 이상 10.0 이하이다. 본 발명에 따르면, 유리의 표면압축응력과 중앙인장응력의 비율인 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)을 조절하여 내충격성을 향상시킬 수 있고, 굽힘 특성이 요구되는 벤더블(bendable), 폴더블(foldable), 롤러블(rollable), 스트래처블(stretchable) 형태 등의 디스플레이에 안정적으로 적용될 수 있는 수준의 표면압축응력을 갖는 박형 강화 유리 및 그 제조방법이 제공된다.

Description

박형 강화 유리 및 그 제조방법
본 발명은 박형 강화 유리 및 그 제조방법에 관한 것이다. 보다 구체적으로, 본 발명은 유리의 표면압축응력(Surface Compressive Stress, CS)과 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile Stress, CT)의 비율인 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)을 조절하여 내충격성을 향상시킬 수 있고, 굽힘 특성이 요구되는 벤더블(bendable), 폴더블(foldable), 롤러블(rollable), 스트래처블(stretchable) 형태 등의 디스플레이에 안정적으로 적용될 수 있는 수준의 표면압축응력을 갖는 박형 강화 유리 및 그 제조방법에 관한 것이다.
디스플레이 패널, 터치 패널, 백라이트 패널 등에는 박형의 유리가 사용되며, 이러한 유리는 내충격성 등을 향상시키는 강화처리가 수행된 후 제품에 적용되며, 강화에는 화학적 강화와 물리적 강화가 있다.
유리가 깨지는 이유는 유리에 외력이 가해지면 유리 표면에는 압축응력이 작용하고, 그 반대측 유리 표면에는 인장응력이 작용하기 때문인 것으로 알려져 있다.
일반적으로, 유리가 디스플레이 패널에 윈도우 글라스의 형태로 적용되는 경우, 유리 표면 스크래치 발생 가능성과 사용 중 떨어트림에 대한 파손 가능성 등을 줄이기 위하여 디스플레이 패널에 사용되는 윈도우 글라스의 경우 이온 치환 화학 강화를 이용하여 강도를 향상시킨다.
이온 치환 화학 강화 방식에 따르면, 동일 화학 강화의 조건에서 유리의 물적 특성과 두께에 따라 표면압축응력(Surface Compressive Stress)의 변위가 결정된다. 또한 이온 치환 화학 강화의 강화 깊이(Depth of Layer)와 표면압축응력은 서로 반대적인 성향을 가지므로 유리 제조 시에 결정되는 유리 물성에 의하여 결정되는 표면 압축 응력을 초과한 결과를 가질 수 없다.
한편, 현재 사용하는 윈도우 글라스의 이온 치환 강화로 달성할 수 있는 표면압축응력으로는, 유리의 내충격성을 향상시키는 데에 한계가 있으며, 특히, 굽힘 특성이 요구되는 벤더블(bendable), 폴더블(foldable), 롤러블(rollable), 스트래처블(stretchable) 형태 등의 디스플레이에 사용하기는 표면압축응력이 낮은 문제점이 있어, 표면압축응력을 더 높일 수 있는 방법이 요구된다.

이러한 기술적 과제를 해결하기 위한 본 발명에 따른 박형 강화 유리는 표면압축응력(Surface Compressive Stress, CS)과 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile Stress, CT)의 비율인 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)이 2.0 이상 10.0 이하이다.
본 발명에 따른 박형 강화 유리에 있어서, 상기 박형 강화 유리의 두께는 210㎛ 이상 350㎛ 이하인 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명에 따른 박형 강화 유리에 있어서, 상기 박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 두께는 15㎛ 이상 25㎛ 이하인 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명에 따른 박형 강화 유리에 있어서, 상기 박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 층에 함유된 칼륨이온(K+)의 함량은 5% 이상 15% 이하인 것을 특징으로 한다.

본 발명에 따른 박형 강화 유리 제조방법에 있어서, 상기 강화 단계는 이온 치환 용액으로서 질산칼륨(KNO3)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명에 따른 박형 강화 유리 제조방법에 있어서, 상기 예열 단계의 온도는 상기 이온 치환 용액의 녹는점 이상이고, 상기 유리의 유리 전이 온도(Tg) 미만인 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명에 따른 박형 강화 유리 제조방법에 있어서, 상기 강화 단계의 온도는 상기 이온 치환 용액의 녹는점 이상이고, 400도 이하인 것을 특징으로 한다.

본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 박형 강화 유리는 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 박형 강화 유리 제조방법의 결과물이다.
예를 들어, 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 박형 강화 유리는 정전용량방식으로 지문을 인식하는 터치센서에 부착되는 커버 유리로 사용될 수 있다.
정전용량방식으로 지문을 인식하는 터치센서의 경우, 터치센서와 손가락 사이의 영역(즉, 특정한 두께와 유전율을 갖는 영역)에 의하여 센싱 가능 유무가 정해지게 된다. 지문 인식이 아닌 일반적 터치센서의 경우 패턴의 폭이 넓어 저저항 및 저채널을 통한 패턴 센싱이 원활하지만, 지문 센싱을 위해서는 초미세패턴 및 다채널 적용이 필요시 되는 상황이기 때문에 센싱 작동을 구현하기 위해서는 손가락과 패턴 사이의 전하 이동 손실을 최소화해야 한다. 이를 위하여 외부로의 충격을 방어하기 위한 터치센서에 부착되는 커버 유리의 두께와 내충격 특성이 중요하며, 이하에서는, 이러한 요구를 충족시키기 위한 박형 강화 유리 및 그 제조방법의 구성을 설명한다.
도 1은 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 박형 강화 유리에 있어서, 표면압축응력(Compressive Stress, CS)과 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile, CT)의 비율인 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)을 설명하기 위한 도면이다.
도 1을 참조하면, 화학 강화 유리는 두께 방향에 대칭인 응력 프로파일을 갖는다. 상기 응력 프로파일에 있어서 유리의 최표면에는 압축 응력이 최대가 된다. 여기서, 유리의 최표면에 있어서의 압축 응력을 표면압축응력(Compressive Stress, CS)이라고 한다. 또한, 유리 표면으로부터 유리 내부로 진행됨에 따라 압축 응력은 서서히 작아져, 특정 깊이(압축 응력 깊이, Depth Of Layer)에 있어서, 압축 응력은 0이 된다. 유리의 압축 응력 깊이(Depth of Layer)보다 깊은 부분에 있어서 유리의 두께 방향에 있어서의 응력의 적산값이 0이 되도록 인장 응력이 발생한다. 이 인장 응력을 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile, CT)이라고 한다. 또한, 이 경우에 있어서 표면 압축 응력(Compressive Stress, CS), 압축 응력 깊이(DOL) 및 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile, CT)은 유리의 두께를 t로 하면 일반적으로 이하의 관계식으로 표현된다. 또한, 여기에서 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile, CT)이 인장 응력층에 있어서는 일정한 값이라고 가정하고 있다.

화학 강화 유리는 CS가 클수록 인장 응력에 의한 크랙의 확장을 억제하는 것이 알려져 있다. 또한, DOL이 크며 또한 CT가 작을수록 흠집에 강하여 파쇄되기 어려운 것으로 알려져 있다.
표면압축응력(Compressive Stress, CS), 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile, CT) 및 압축 응력 깊이(Depth Of Layer)는 표면 응력계(FSM-6000LE)를 사용하여 측정할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 박형 강화 유리는 이온교환방식의 화학강화처리에 의한 결과물로서, 박형 강화 유리의 표면압축응력(Compressive Stress, CS)과 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile Stress, CT)의 비율인 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)이 2.0 이상 10.0 이하이다.
응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)이 2.0 미만일 경우, CT값 대비 CS값이 현저하게 작아지며, 이와 같은 경우에 유리 표면에 작은 에너지 충격으로도 내부의 에너지가 밖으로 표출되어 유리가 쉽게 파괴될 수 있다.
응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)이 10.0을 초과할 경우, CT값 대비 CS값이 현저하게 높아지며, 이와 같은 경우에 폴딩시 유리의 안쪽으로 접히는 부분과 바깥쪽으로 인장되는 부분의 최외각에서의 CS값의 불균형이 초래되어 폴딩 시 쉽게 파손될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 박형 강화 유리의 양측 표면에 존재하는 표면압축응력(Surface Compressive Stress, CS)은 이온교환방식의 화학강화처리에 의해 증대되어 있으며, 예를 들어, 박형 강화 유리의 두께는 210㎛ 이상 350㎛ 이하일 수 있다.
박형 강화 유리가 터치 센서 등의 감지 소자에 부착되어 있는 경우를 예로 들어, 박형 강화 유리의 두께의 수치 범위가 갖는 임계적 의의를 설명하면 다음과 같다.
박형 강화 유리의 두께가 210㎛ 이상 350㎛ 이하인 경우, 외부 요인에 의해 가해지는 외력에 대한 박형 강화 유리 자체의 내충격성을 확보하는 동시에, 박형 강화 유리에 부착되어 있는 터치 센서로의 충격 전달을 최소화할 수 있다. 또한, 박형 강화 유리에 부착되어 있는 터치 센서 등의 감지 소자가 사람의 지문 등과 같은 미세 패턴을 신뢰성 있게 감지할 수 있다.
박형 강화 유리의 두께가 210㎛ 미만인 경우, 박형 강화 유리가 외력에 의한 충격을 버티지 못하고 파손되는 문제가 있다.
박형 강화 유리의 두께가 350㎛를 초과하는 경우, 박형 강화 유리의 두께 증가가 터치 센서의 유전율 증가를 유발하고, 이는 정전용량(capacitance) 감소로 이어져, 결국, 터치 센서의 터치 감도가 하락하고, 사람의 지문 등과 같은 미세 패턴에 대한 센싱을 요구할 경우 터치 자체가 불가능한 상태가 되고, 최종 제품 무게가 상승하는 문제가 있다.
또한, 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 있어서, 박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 두께는 15㎛ 이상 25㎛ 이하일 수 있다.
박형 강화 유리가 터치 센서 등의 감지 소자에 부착되어 있는 경우를 예로 들어, 박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 두께의 수치 범위가 갖는 임계적 의의를 설명하면 다음과 같다.
박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 두께가 15㎛ 이상 25㎛ 이하인 경우, 유리 파손을 방지하는 동시에 사람의 지문 등과 같은 미세 패턴에 대한 센싱력을 향상시킬 수 있는 효과가 있다.
박형 강화 유리의 강화 깊이는 외부 충격을 방어하는 방패(shield)와 같은 역할을 수행하며, 유리 표면에 스크래치(Scratch)가 발생되더라도 외부 압축 응력에 의하여 스크래치가 벌어지는 것을 압축함으로써 내부로 형성되어 갈 크랙(Crack)을 저지하게 된다. 만약 크랙이 내부로 이어져 외부의 응력이 밖으로 표출될 경우 내부와 외부 응력값 불균형이 발생되어 유리 파괴가 발생되게 된다.
만약, 박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 두께가 15㎛ 미만인 경우, 강화깊이가 얇아 조그마한 스크래치에 의해서도 크랙이 쉽게 내부로 이어져 유리 파손을 발생시키는 문제가 있다.
박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 두께가 25㎛를 초과하는 경우, 내부 응력이 존재하게 될 공간이 감소함에 따라 내부 응력이 급격히 증가하는 문제 및 외부 응력이 존재하는 영역이 넓어져 스크래치를 압축할 힘이 약해져 크랙 진행이 용이하게 되며, K+이온의 함유량이 많아짐에 따라 미세패턴에 대한 패턴 센싱력이 저하되는 문제가 있다.
이때, 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 있어서, 박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 층에 함유된 칼륨이온(K+)의 함량은 5% 이상 15% 이하일 수 있다.
박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 층에 함유된 칼륨이온(K+)의 함량이 5% 이하일 경우 압축응력 형성이 약하여 유리의 강도가 저하되는 문제가 있다.
박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 층에 함유된 칼륨이온(K+)의 함량이 15% 이상일 경우 미세패턴에 대한 패턴 센싱력이 저하되는 문제가 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 박형 강화 유리에 있어서, 표면압축응력(Surface Compressive Stress, CS)과 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile Stress, CT)의 비율인 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT) 조절을 통하여 내충격 특성 및 폴딩 특성이 향상되는 실험 결과를 설명하면 다음과 같다.
먼저, 내충격 특성에 관한 실험 결과는 다음 표 1과 같다.
표 1의 실험 결과는, 두께가 상이한 5개의 시료에 대하여 낙하 높이를 증가시켜가며 중량물인 펜(pen _ BIC사의 Easy Glide 오렌지볼펜)을 동일한 높이에서 3번 낙하시켜 1번이라도 파괴가 발생하였을 경우, 해당 낙하 높이를 기록한 것이다.
시료 1의 두께는 145㎛이고, 시료 2의 두께는 210㎛, 시료 3의 두께는 330㎛ 이다.

표 1을 참조하면, 시료 1(145㎛)의 경우, 파괴가 발생하는 낙하 높이가 85cm 이하로서, 내충격성이 약하다는 것을 확인할 수 있다.
반면, 시료 2(210㎛)가 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)이 2.0 이상 10.0 이하이고, 강화깊이 두께가 15㎛ 이상 25㎛ 이하의 조건을 충족하는 경우, 파괴가 발생하는 최소 낙하 높이가 130cm로서, 박형 강화 유리가 터치 센서 등과 같은 감지 소자에 부착되어 사용되는 실제 환경을 기준으로, 우수한 내충격성을 갖는다는 것을 확인할 수 있다.
또한, 시료 3(330㎛)도 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)이 2.0 이상 10.0 이하이고, 강화깊이 두께가 15㎛ 이상 25㎛ 이하의 조건을 충족하는 경우, 파괴가 발생하는 최소 낙하 높이가 160cm로서, 우수한 내충격성을 갖는다는 것을 확인할 수 있다.
도 2는 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 박형 강화 유리 제조방법의 공정 순서도이다.
도 2를 참조하면, 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 박형 강화 유리 제조방법은 예열 단계(S10), 강화 단계(S20) 및 후열 단계(S30)를 포함한다.
예를 들어, 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 박형 강화 유리 제조방법의 결과물인 박형 강화 유리의 양측 표면에 존재하는 표면압축응력(Surface Compressive Stress, CS)은 이온교환방식의 화학강화처리에 의해 증대되어 있다.
예열 단계(S10)에서는, 화학강화처리의 대상인 유리를 예열온도에서 열처리하는 과정이 수행된다.
강화 단계(S20)에서는, 예열 단계(S10)에서 예열된 유리를 예열 단계 종료 시의 온도 미만의 강화온도에서 열처리하면서 이온교환방식으로 화학강화처리하는 과정이 수행된다.
강화 단계(S20)에서는 유리 표면에 분포하는 작은 이온(Na+)은 빠져 나오고, 빠져 나간 자리에 이온 치환 용액인 질산칼륨(KNO3) 내의 큰 이온(K+)이 들어가게 된다. 나트륨 이온(Na+) 원자의 크기는 0.98Å이고, 칼륨 이온(K+)의 원자 크기는 1.33Å이므로 나트륨 이온 자리에 칼륨 이온이 들어가게 되면 유리 표면에 압축 응력층을 형성하게 되어 표면의 밀도가 증가하면서 강화유리가 형성된다.
후열 단계(S30)에서는, 화학강화처리된 유리를 강화 단계(S20)에서 강화된 유리를 강화 단계 종료 시의 온도 미만의 후열온도에서 열처리하는 과정이 수행된다.
예열 단계(S10), 강화 단계(S20) 및 후열 단계(S30)가 수행된 이후에 획득되는 박형 강화 유리의 표면압축응력(Compressive Stress, CS)과 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile Stress, CT)의 비율인 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)이 2.0 이상 10.0 이하일 수 있다.
박형 강화 유리의 양측 표면에 존재하는 표면압축응력(Surface Compressive Stress, CS)은 이온교환방식의 화학강화처리에 의해 증대되어 있으며, 예를 들어, 박형 강화 유리의 두께는 210㎛ 이상 350㎛ 이하일 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 있어서, 박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 두께는 15㎛ 이상 25㎛ 이하일 수 있다.
응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)이 2.0 이상 10.0 이하, 박형 강화 유리의 두께 210㎛ 이상 350㎛ 이하, 강화깊이 두께 15㎛ 이상 25㎛ 이하인 경우에 획득할 수 있는 박형 강화 유리의 내충격 및 폴딩 특성의 향상된 실험 결과에 대해서는, 앞서 표 1을 참조하여 설명하였으므로, 중복되는 설명은 생략한다.
예를 들어, 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 박형 강화 유리 제조방법에 있어서, 1) 예열 단계(S10)에서 예열된 유리의 양측 표면은 강화 단계(S20)에서 예열온도와 강화온도의 차이 및 표면이온교환에 의해 표면압축응력이 1차적으로 증대되고, 2) 강화 단계(S20)에서 화학강화처리된 유리는 후열 단계(S30)에서 강화온도와 후열온도의 차이에 의해 표면압축응력이 2차적으로 증대되도록 구성될 수 있다.
이러한 구성을 예열 단계(S10), 강화 단계(S20) 및 후열 단계(S30)의 예시적인 온도 조건을 나타낸 도 3을 추가로 참조하여 설명하면 다음과 같다.
도 3을 추가로 참조하면, 예열 단계(S10)에서는, 예를 들어, 상온에서 시작하여 예열 종료온도인 T1까지 점진적으로 상승하는 온도 환경에서 화학강화처리의 대상인 유리를 예열하여 열처리하는 과정이 수행된다.
이와 같이 화학강화처리의 대상인 유리를 예열하면, 이후의 강화 단계(S20)에서 수행되는 이온교환방식의 화학강화처리 과정을 위한 가열로 인해 발생할 수 있는 급격한 온도 차이에 기인하는 유리의 구조적 손상 및 파손을 방지할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 예열 단계(S10)에서의 예열이 종료되는 시점의 온도인 예열 종료온도(T1)는 화학강화처리를 위한 이온 치환 용액의 녹는점 이상이고 화학강화처리의 대상인 유리의 변형온도 미만일 수 있다.
예를 들어, 이온 치환 용액이 질산칼륨(KNO3) 용액인 경우, 그 녹는점은 약 333도이기 때문에, 이 경우에서의 예열 종료온도(T1)는 333도 이상인 것이 바람직하며, 적용될 수 있는 이온 치환 용액마다 그 녹는점이 상이하다는 점을 밝혀둔다.
한편, 화학강화처리의 대상인 유리별로 고유한 변형온도가 있고, 예열 종료온도는 이 변형온도에 도달하는 경우, 유리의 구조적 특성에 변형이 생긴다. 따라서, 이러한 변형을 방지하기 위하여, 예열 종료온도는 화학강화처리의 대상인 유리의 변형온도 미만인 것이 바람직하다.
강화 단계(S20)에서는, 예열된 유리를 예열이 종료되는 시점의 온도, 즉, 예열 종료온도 T1 이하의 강화온도(T2)에서 열처리하면서 이온교환방식으로 화학강화처리하는 과정이 수행된다. 예열 단계(S10)에서 예열된 유리의 양측 표면은 강화 단계(S20)에서 예열온도, 보다 구체적으로는 예열 종료온도(T1)와 강화온도(T2)의 차이(T1-T2) 및 표면이온교환에 의해 표면압축응력이 1차적으로 증대된다.
예를 들어, 강화온도(T2)는 화학강화처리를 위한 이온 치환 용액의 녹는점 이상이고 400도 이하일 수 있고, 강화 단계(S20)가 수행되는 시간(t2-t1)은 5분 이상 60분 이하일 수 있다.
강화온도(T2)는 이온 치환 용액의 녹는점, 예를 들어, 이온 치환 용액이 질산칼륨(KNO3) 용액인 경우, 그 녹는점인 333도 미만이면, 이온 치환 용액이 용융되지 않아 유리 표면의 나트륨 이온 교환이 수행되지 않는다. 강화온도(T2)가 400도를 초과하면 고온으로 인해 유리에 구조적인 손상이 발생할 수 있고 나트륨과 칼륨의 이온 교환이 급격히 일어나 유리의 탄성을 포함하는 물성이 저하될 수 있다. 강화시간은 충분한 수준의 이온 치환을 고려하여 설정된 시간이다.
후열 단계(S30)에서는, 강화 단계(S20)에서 화학강화처리된 유리를 강화온도(T2) 미만의 후열온도(T3)에서 열처리하는 과정이 수행된다. 강화 단계(S20)에서 화학강화처리된 유리는 후열 단계(S30)에서 강화온도(T2)와 후열온도(T3)의 차이(ΔT)에 의해 표면압축응력이 2차적으로 증대된다.
예를 들어, 강화온도(T2)와 후열 단계(S30)가 시작되는 시점의 온도인 후열 시작온도(T3)의 차이(ΔT)는 1도 이상 100도 이하일 수 있다.
강화온도(T2)와 후열 시작온도(T3)의 차이(ΔT)는 박형 강화 유리의 표면압축응력을 2차적으로 증대시키는 동시에 유리의 구조적인 손상을 방지할 수 있도록 하는 범위에서 설정될 수 있다.
강화온도(T2)와 후열 시작온도(T3)의 차이(ΔT)가 1도 미만이면 박형 강화 유리의 2차적인 표면압축응력 증대가 충분하게 발생하지 않고, 강화온도(T2)와 후열 시작온도(T3)의 차이(ΔT)가 100도를 초과하면 지나친 온도 차이로 인해 유리에 구조적인 손상이 발생할 수 있다.
한편, 예열 단계(S10) 이전에 수행될 수 있는 공정들을 예시적으로 설명하면 다음과 같다. 이 공정들은 하나의 예시일 뿐이며, 생략되거나 다른 공정으로 치환될 수 있다는 점을 밝혀 둔다.
예를 들어, 먼저, 복수의 글라스 원판들을 에칭방지 및 접합의 기능을 수행하는 에칭방지/접합제로 접합함으로써, 복수의 글라스 원판들이 적층된 글라스 원판 집합체를 획득하는 과정이 수행될 수 있다. 이와 같이, 글라스 원판들을 적층하여 획득한 글라스 원판 집합체에 대하여 후술하는 공정들을 수행함으로써, 최종 산물인 단위 글라스 셀의 제조 수량을 늘리고 제조 시간을 단축할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 에칭방지/접합제는 글라스 원판들의 사이즈와 동일한 사이즈를 갖는 시트(sheet)로 구현되거나, 글라스 원판들 사이에 코팅되는 코팅 물질일 수 있다.
예를 들어, 글라스 원판 및 본 실시 예에 따라 제조되는 최종 산물인 셀 단위의 박형 강화 유리는 알칼리 알루미노실리게이트(Sodium Alumino Silicate) 글라스일 수 있으나, 이에 한정되지는 않는다. 구체적인 예로, 글라스 원판 및 본 실시 예에 따라 제조되는 산물인 박형 강화 유리의 재질인 알칼리 알루미노실리게이트 글라스는 1중량% ~ 10중량%의 K20, 10중량% ~ 20중량%의 Na2O를 포함할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 글라스 원판 집합체를 구성하는 글라스 원판들 중에서 최외곽에 위치하는 2개의 글라스 원판은 후술하는 측면 에칭단계에서 중간에 위치하는 글라스 원판들을 보호하는 더미(dummy) 글라스의 기능을 수행할 수 있다. 보다 구체적으로, 측면 에칭의 대상은 글라스 원판 집합체를 정해진 사이즈 절단하여 획득한 단위 글라스 셀 집합체이기 때문에, 단위 글라스 셀 집합체를 구성하는 단위 글라스 셀들 중에서 최외곽에 위치하여 에칭에 직접적인 영향을 받는 2개의 단위 글라스 셀이 중간에 위치하는 단위 글라스 셀들을 보호하는 더미(dummy) 글라스의 기능을 수행한다.
다음으로, 글라스 원판들이 적층된 글라스 원판 집합체를 정해진 사이즈로 절단하여 단위 글라스 셀들이 적층된 단위 글라스 셀 집합체를 획득하는 과정이 수행될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 절단 과정은 다이아몬드 휠 커팅 방식으로 수행될 수 있으나, 이에 한정되지는 않는다.
다음으로, 단위 글라스 셀 집합체의 측면을 연마하는 과정이 수행될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 이러한 연마단계는 생략될 수 있는 선택적인 공정이며, 초음파 또는 엔드 밀(end mill) 연마 방식으로 수행될 수 있으나, 이에 한정되지는 않는다.
다음으로, 단위 글라스 셀 집합체를 에칭액에 침지하여 글라스 셀 집합체를 구성하는 단위 글라스 셀들의 측면을 에칭하는 측면 에칭단계가 수행될 수 있다.
예를 들어, 에칭액은 불산을 포함하는 수용액일 수 있으며, 구체적인 예로, 에칭액은 1중량% ~ 20중량%의 불산, 0.1중량% ~ 5중량%의 불화 암모늄, 1중량% ~ 20중량%의 무기산, 1중량% ~ 10중량%의 유기산 또는 상기 유기산의 염, 및 전체 조성물의 총 중량이 100 중량%가 되도록 하는 물을 포함할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 무기산은 황산(H2SO4), 염산(HCl), 질산(HNO3), 인산(H3PO4), 설파민산(SO3HNH2), 과염소산(HClO4), 크롬산(HCrO4), 아황산(H2SO3) 및 아질산(HNO2)으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 하나 이상을 포함할 수 있다.
하나의 예로, 유기산은 카르복시산(carboxylic acid), 디카르복시산(dicarboxylic acid), 트리카르복시산(tricarboxlicacid), 테트라카르복시산(tetracarboxylic acid)로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 하나 이상을 포함할 수 있다.
다른 예로, 유기산은 아세트산(acetic acid), 부탄산(butanoic acid), 시트르산(citric acid), 포름산(formic acid), 글루콘산(gluconic acid), 글리콜산(glycolic acid), 말론산(malonic acid), 옥살산(oxalic acid), 펜탄산(pentanoic acid), 설포벤조산(sulfobenzoic acid), 설포석신산(sulfosuccinic acid), 설포프탈산(sulfophthalic acid), 살리실산(salicylic acid), 설포살리실산(sulfosalicylic acid), 벤조산(benzoicacid), 락트산(lactic acid), 글리세르산(glyceric acid), 석신산(succinic acid), 말산(malic acid), 타르타르산(tartaric acid), 이소시트르산(isocitric acid), 프로펜산(propenoic acid), 이미노디아세트산(imminodiacetic acid), 및 에틸렌디아민테트라아세트산(ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid; EDTA)으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 하나 이상을 포함할 수 있다.
물은 25℃에서 18 MΩ/cm 이상의 비저항을 갖는 탈이온수일 수 있다.
다음으로, 단위 글라스 셀 집합체를 구성하는 단위 글라스 셀들 사이에 형성되어 있는 에칭방지/접합제를 제거하는 과정이 수행될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 에칭방지/접합제는 UV 노광 또는 온수처리 방식으로 제거될 수 있으나, 이에 한정되지는 않는다.
이상에서 설명한 선택적인 공정들의 일부 또는 전부는 필요에 따라 생략되거나 다른 방식의 공정으로 대체될 수 있는 공정들이라는 점을 다시 한번 밝혀둔다.
이상에서 상세히 설명한 바와 같이 본 발명에 따르면, 유리의 표면압축응력(Surface Compressive Stress, CS)과 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile Stress, CT)의 비율인 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)을 조절하여 내충격성을 향상시킬 수 있도록 하는 박형 강화 유리 및 그 제조방법이 제공되는 효과가 있다.
또한, 굽힘 특성이 요구되는 벤더블(bendable), 폴더블(foldable), 롤러블(rollable), 스트래처블(stretchable) 형태 등의 디스플레이에 안정적으로 적용될 수 있는 수준의 표면압축응력을 갖는 박형 강화 유리 및 그 제조방법이 제공되는 효과가 있다.

Claims (16)

  1. 표면압축응력(Surface Compressive Stress, CS)과 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile Stress, CT)의 비율인 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)이 2.0 이상 10.0 이하인, 박형 강화 유리.
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 박형 강화 유리의 두께는 210㎛ 이상 350㎛ 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리.
  3. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 두께는 15㎛ 이상 25㎛ 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리.
  4. 제3항에 있어서,
    상기 박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 층에 함유된 칼륨이온(K+)의 함량은 5% 이상 15% 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리.
  5. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 박형 강화 유리는 정전용량방식으로 지문을 인식하는 터치센서에 부착되는 커버 유리로 사용되는 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리.
  6. 유리를 열처리하는 예열 단계;
    상기 열처리된 유리를 이온 치환 용액을 통해 화학 강화하는 강화 단계; 및
    상기 강화된 유리를 최종 열처리하는 후열 단계를 포함하며,
    상기 강화 단계의 온도는 상기 예열 단계의 종료 온도 미만의 온도이며, 상기 후열 단계의 온도는 상기 강화 단계의 종료온도 미만의 온도인 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리 제조 방법.
  7. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 강화 단계는 이온 치환 용액으로서 질산칼륨(KNO3)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리 제조방법.
  8. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 예열 단계의 온도는 상기 이온 치환 용액의 녹는점 이상이고, 상기 유리의 유리 전이 온도(Tg) 미만인 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리 제조방법.
  9. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 강화 단계의 온도는 상기 이온 치환 용액의 녹는점 이상이고, 400도 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리 제조방법.
  10. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 강화 단계의 온도는 상기 예열 단계의 종료 온도보다 1도 이상 100도 이하 낮은 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리 제조방법.
  11. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 후열 단계의 온도는 상기 강화 단계의 종료 온도보다 1도 이상 100도 이하 낮은 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리 제조방법.
  12. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 강화 단계는 5분 이상 60분 이하 동안 진행되는 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리 제조방법.
  13. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 후열 단계 이후에 획득되는 박형 강화 유리의 표면압축응력(Surface Compressive Stress, CS)과 중앙인장응력(Central Tensile Stress, CT)의 비율인 응력 분포 비율(CS/CT)이 2.0 이상 10.0 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리 제조방법.
  14. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 후열 단계 이후에 획득되는 박형 강화 유리의 두께는 210㎛ 이상 350㎛ 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리 제조방법.
  15. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 후열 단계 이후에 획득되는 박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 두께는 15㎛ 이상 25㎛ 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리 제조방법.
  16. 제15항에 있어서,
    상기 후열 단계 이후에 획득되는 박형 강화 유리의 강화깊이 층에 함유된 칼륨이온(K+)의 함량은 5% 이상 15% 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는, 박형 강화 유리 제조방법.
