Description
本発明は、電気的にインダクタンス値を調整できる可変インダクタ回路に関するものである。
無線通信に用いられる高周波回路では、動作させる周波数に合わせた整合回路が設けられている。整合回路により回路間のインピーダンス整合がとれ、回路間の電力反射を緩和し、結果として良好な特性が得られる。整合回路は、抵抗、コンデンサ、インダクタを用いるが、インダクタに関しては、一般的にインダクタンス成分を有する金属配線により形成されるためインダクタンス値を容易に調整することができず、動作周波数が変わると回路の性能が劣化してしまう。
そこで、従来、電気的にインダクタンス値を調整する方法として、例えば、キャパシティブ回路をインダクティブ回路に変換するジャイレータに基づく可変インダクタ回路があった。しかしながら、このような可変インダクタ回路では、周波数が高くなると共振してしまい、30GHz以上の高周波帯ではインダクタンス値の調整をすることは困難であった。
この問題を解決するため、例えば、特許文献1において、寄生容量が小さいトランジスタを用い、カスコード接続されている二つのトランジスタの相互コンダクタンス(gm)を可変させることと、二つのトランジスタの内、接地(GND)側に接続されているトランジスタの見かけ上のゲート-ソース間容量(Cgs)を可変とすることで、高周波帯でも使用可能な可変インダクタ回路が示されている。
そこで、従来、電気的にインダクタンス値を調整する方法として、例えば、キャパシティブ回路をインダクティブ回路に変換するジャイレータに基づく可変インダクタ回路があった。しかしながら、このような可変インダクタ回路では、周波数が高くなると共振してしまい、30GHz以上の高周波帯ではインダクタンス値の調整をすることは困難であった。
この問題を解決するため、例えば、特許文献1において、寄生容量が小さいトランジスタを用い、カスコード接続されている二つのトランジスタの相互コンダクタンス(gm)を可変させることと、二つのトランジスタの内、接地(GND)側に接続されているトランジスタの見かけ上のゲート-ソース間容量(Cgs)を可変とすることで、高周波帯でも使用可能な可変インダクタ回路が示されている。
しかしながら、上記従来の可変インダクタ回路においては、高周波帯でも使用可能な可変インダクタを示してはいるものの、見かけ上のCgsを変化させるにはバラクタダイオードを用いることとなり、それには制御電圧として20V近くの直流電圧源を用意しなくてはならず、実装コストが増大するという問題点があった。
この発明は上記のような課題を解決するためになされたもので、実装コストを抑え、高周波帯においても電気的にインダクタンス値を調整できる可変インダクタ回路を提供することを目的とする。
この発明に係る可変インダクタ回路は、互いに磁界結合した一方のインダクタ及び他方のインダクタと、一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御する可変電流源とを備え、可変電流源で一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御することで、他方のインダクタのインダクタンス値を可変とするようにしたものである。
この発明の可変インダクタ回路は、可変電流源で一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御することで、他方のインダクタのインダクタンス値を可変とするようにしたものである。これにより、実装コストを抑え、高周波帯においても電気的にインダクタンス値を調整することができる。
以下、この発明をより詳細に説明するために、この発明を実施するための形態について、添付の図面に従って説明する。
実施の形態1.
図1は、本実施の形態による可変インダクタ回路を示す構成図である。
図1に示す可変インダクタ回路は、互いに磁界結合したインダクタ1と可変電流源2を備える。インダクタ1における一方のインダクタ1a及び他方のインダクタ1bの一端は電圧源(図示省略)に接続され、一方のインダクタ1aの他端には可変電流源2が接続されている。一方のインダクタ1aのインダクタンス値をL1、他方のインダクタ1bのインダクタンス値をL2とする。他方のインダクタ1bの電圧源に接続されている端子は接地電位への接続でも可能である。可変電流源2における一方のインダクタ1aの接続側とは逆側は接地されており、一方のインダクタ1aに流れる電流を制御するよう構成されている。なお、一方のインダクタ1a及び他方のインダクタ1bは、それぞれインダクタンス値がL1及びL2となる金属配線であってもよい。
また、以下の各実施の形態の説明において、可変インダクタ回路が適用される周波数として30GHz以上の高周波帯を想定しているが、この周波数帯に限定されるものではない。
実施の形態1.
図1は、本実施の形態による可変インダクタ回路を示す構成図である。
図1に示す可変インダクタ回路は、互いに磁界結合したインダクタ1と可変電流源2を備える。インダクタ1における一方のインダクタ1a及び他方のインダクタ1bの一端は電圧源(図示省略)に接続され、一方のインダクタ1aの他端には可変電流源2が接続されている。一方のインダクタ1aのインダクタンス値をL1、他方のインダクタ1bのインダクタンス値をL2とする。他方のインダクタ1bの電圧源に接続されている端子は接地電位への接続でも可能である。可変電流源2における一方のインダクタ1aの接続側とは逆側は接地されており、一方のインダクタ1aに流れる電流を制御するよう構成されている。なお、一方のインダクタ1a及び他方のインダクタ1bは、それぞれインダクタンス値がL1及びL2となる金属配線であってもよい。
また、以下の各実施の形態の説明において、可変インダクタ回路が適用される周波数として30GHz以上の高周波帯を想定しているが、この周波数帯に限定されるものではない。
次に、実施の形態1の可変インダクタ回路の動作について説明する。
可変電流源2の電流を制御し、一方のインダクタ1aを流れる電流を変化させる。ここで、磁束と電流には式(1)の関係がある。下式(1)において、Φは磁束、Lはインダクタンス、Iは電流である。

一方のインダクタ1aに流れる電流を可変とすることで、一方のインダクタ1aに生じる磁束Φ1も変化する。他方のインダクタ1bは一方のインダクタ1aと磁界結合しており、相互インダクタンスM(=K√(L1×L2))を生じており、Φ1の変化により、結合係数Kが変化し、相互インダクタンスMも変化する。この結果、図1に示すZLからみたインダクタンス値(可変インダクタ回路としてのインダクタンス値)を可変とすることができる。
図2及び図3は可変電流源2を制御して、一方のインダクタ1aに流れる電流を変化させた時の可変インダクタ回路のインダクタンス値とQ値のシミュレーション結果である。電流が変化することで、ZLからみたインダクタンス値とQ値を変化させることができていることがわかる。
可変電流源2の電流を制御し、一方のインダクタ1aを流れる電流を変化させる。ここで、磁束と電流には式(1)の関係がある。下式(1)において、Φは磁束、Lはインダクタンス、Iは電流である。

一方のインダクタ1aに流れる電流を可変とすることで、一方のインダクタ1aに生じる磁束Φ1も変化する。他方のインダクタ1bは一方のインダクタ1aと磁界結合しており、相互インダクタンスM(=K√(L1×L2))を生じており、Φ1の変化により、結合係数Kが変化し、相互インダクタンスMも変化する。この結果、図1に示すZLからみたインダクタンス値(可変インダクタ回路としてのインダクタンス値)を可変とすることができる。
図2及び図3は可変電流源2を制御して、一方のインダクタ1aに流れる電流を変化させた時の可変インダクタ回路のインダクタンス値とQ値のシミュレーション結果である。電流が変化することで、ZLからみたインダクタンス値とQ値を変化させることができていることがわかる。
以上説明したように、実施の形態1の可変インダクタ回路によれば、互いに磁界結合した一方のインダクタ及び他方のインダクタと、一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御する可変電流源とを備え、可変電流源で一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御することで、他方のインダクタのインダクタンス値を可変とするようにしたので、実装コストを抑え、高周波帯においても電気的にインダクタンス値を調整することができる。
実施の形態2.
実施の形態2は、回路に入力される高周波電圧をgm(トランスコンダクタンス)素子の制御電圧として用いて、一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御するようにしたものである。
図4は、実施の形態2の可変インダクタ回路の構成図である。
実施の形態2の可変インダクタ回路は、互いに磁界結合した一方のインダクタ1aと他方のインダクタ1bからなるインダクタ1と、gm素子3とを備える。一方のインダクタ1a及び他方のインダクタ1bは、実施の形態1の一方のインダクタ1a及び他方のインダクタ1bと同様である。gm素子3は、一方のインダクタ1aを流れる電流を制御する素子であり、一端が一方のインダクタ1aに接続され、他端が接地されている。また、gm素子3は、他方のインダクタ1bへの高周波電圧によって制御されるよう構成されている。
実施の形態2は、回路に入力される高周波電圧をgm(トランスコンダクタンス)素子の制御電圧として用いて、一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御するようにしたものである。
図4は、実施の形態2の可変インダクタ回路の構成図である。
実施の形態2の可変インダクタ回路は、互いに磁界結合した一方のインダクタ1aと他方のインダクタ1bからなるインダクタ1と、gm素子3とを備える。一方のインダクタ1a及び他方のインダクタ1bは、実施の形態1の一方のインダクタ1a及び他方のインダクタ1bと同様である。gm素子3は、一方のインダクタ1aを流れる電流を制御する素子であり、一端が一方のインダクタ1aに接続され、他端が接地されている。また、gm素子3は、他方のインダクタ1bへの高周波電圧によって制御されるよう構成されている。
図5にgm素子3の具体例を示す。gm素子3にはバイポーラトランジスタ31を用い、ベース端子に直流電圧(Vbias)を印加するためキャパシタ4が接続されている。
次に、図5に示す回路の動作について説明する。図6に図5の回路の小信号等価回路を示す。図中、L1,L2は磁界結合した一方のインダクタ1a及び他方のインダクタ1bであり、MはL1,L2の相互インダクタンスである。また、C1はキャパシタ4の容量であり、rπはバイポーラトランジスタ31の入力抵抗、reはバイポーラトランジスタ31の出力抵抗、icはバイポーラトランジスタ31のコレクタ電流となる。この小信号等価回路の入力インピーダンスZinは式(2)のように表すことができる。

ここで、rπ=β/gmの関係がある。βはバイポーラトランジスタ31の電流増幅率であり、gmはバイポーラトランジスタ31の相互コンダクタンスである。図5及び図6に示す回路では、他方のインダクタ1bに並列接続しているrπ、すなわちgmを制御することで、他方のインダクタ1bのインダクタンス値を変化させることができる。
次に、図5に示す回路の動作について説明する。図6に図5の回路の小信号等価回路を示す。図中、L1,L2は磁界結合した一方のインダクタ1a及び他方のインダクタ1bであり、MはL1,L2の相互インダクタンスである。また、C1はキャパシタ4の容量であり、rπはバイポーラトランジスタ31の入力抵抗、reはバイポーラトランジスタ31の出力抵抗、icはバイポーラトランジスタ31のコレクタ電流となる。この小信号等価回路の入力インピーダンスZinは式(2)のように表すことができる。

※式中//は並列接続を示す
ここで、rπ=β/gmの関係がある。βはバイポーラトランジスタ31の電流増幅率であり、gmはバイポーラトランジスタ31の相互コンダクタンスである。図5及び図6に示す回路では、他方のインダクタ1bに並列接続しているrπ、すなわちgmを制御することで、他方のインダクタ1bのインダクタンス値を変化させることができる。
図7により具体的な回路例として、gm素子3の制御電圧の入力端子の前段にバッファ回路5を接続する構成を示す。図8はgm素子3とバッファ回路5の具体的な回路構成を示している。一方のインダクタ1aと他方のインダクタ1bは互いに磁界結合しており、一方のインダクタ1a及び他方のインダクタ1bのそれぞれの一端は電圧源に接続され、一方のインダクタ1aの他端は、gm素子3としてカスコード増幅器(第1のトランジスタ32及び第2のトランジスタ33)に接続されている。他方のインダクタ1bの他端は、第1のキャパシタ6a、第3のトランジスタ34と第4のトランジスタ35(ここではエミッタフォロワ回路)からなるバッファ回路5、第2のキャパシタ6bを介して第2のトランジスタ33のベース端子に接続されている。また、第2のトランジスタ33のコレクタ端子には制御電流源7が接続されている。一方のインダクタ1aに接続しているカスコード増幅器によって、式(2)で示したgmを見かけ上大きくし、インダクタンス値の可変幅を拡大する。バッファ回路5は、X点と第2のトランジスタ33間の高周波電圧の反射を緩和する。また制御電流源7は第1のトランジスタ32に流れる直流電流を可変とすることができ、インダクタンス値の制御として用いる。
図9及び図10は制御電流源7の電流値(I1)を制御して一方のインダクタ1aに流れる電流を変化させた時のインダクタンス値とQ値のシミュレーション結果である。図9の縦軸にインダクタンス(Inductance[H])を、図10の縦軸にQ値を示し、図9及び図10の横軸に周波数(Frequency[GHz])を示している。これら図から、電流が変化させることで、ZLからみたインダクタンス値とQ値を変化させることができることがわかる。また、実施の形態1よりインダクタンス値の可変幅が拡大したことと、Q値が高くなったことがわかる。
なお、ここまでの実施の形態として、磁界結合したインダクタ1として、一方のインダクタ1aと他方のインダクタ1bを対象に説明したが、図11に示すように三つのインダクタ(一方のインダクタ1a、他方のインダクタ1b、第3のインダクタ1c)であっても同様の効果を得ることができる。なお、図11において、第3のインダクタ1cは一方のインダクタ1aと並列に接続されており、他の構成は図8と同様である。あるいは三つ以上の複数のインダクタを対象としても同様の効果が得られる。なお、インダクタが三つ以上であった場合は、一つのインダクタ以外のインダクタに流れる電流を制御することで、一つのインダクタのインダクタンス値を可変とする。
以上説明したように、実施の形態2の可変インダクタ回路によれば、互いに磁界結合した一方のインダクタ及び他方のインダクタと、一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御するgm素子とを備え、gm素子を、他方のインダクタの端子電圧で制御することにより、一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御し、他方のインダクタのインダクタンス値を可変とするようにしたので、実施の形態1の効果に加えて、インダクタンス値の可変幅を拡大でき、かつ、Q値を高くすることができる。
また、実施の形態2の可変インダクタ回路によれば、互いに磁界結合した一方のインダクタ及び他方のインダクタと、一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御するカスコード増幅器と、カスコード増幅器のエミッタ接地側トランジスタのコレクタ端子に接続された制御電流源とを備え、他方のインダクタの端子からカスコード増幅器に対してバッファ回路を介して高周波電圧を印加すると共に、制御電流源の電流を変化させることで、カスコード増幅器を流れる電流を変化させ、他方のインダクタのインダクタンス値を可変とするようにしたので、実施の形態1の効果に加えて、インダクタンス値の可変幅を拡大でき、かつ、Q値を高くすることができる。
また、実施の形態2の可変インダクタ回路によれば、一方のインダクタ及び他方のインダクタを含み、互いに磁界結合した三つ以上のインダクタを備え、三つ以上のインダクタのうち、一つのインダクタ以外のインダクタに流れる電流を制御することで、一つのインダクタのインダクタンス値を可変とするようにしたので、三つ以上のインダクタが互いに磁界結合した構成についても、実装コストを抑え、高周波帯においても電気的にインダクタンス値を調整することができる。
実施の形態3.
実施の形態2では、gm素子3に対しバッファ回路5を介して制御するようにしたが、バッファ回路5に代えてリミッティングアンプを用いてもよく、これを実施の形態3として説明する。図12は、実施の形態3の可変インダクタ回路の構成図である。
図12に示すように、図7に示した実施の形態2のバッファ回路5に代えてリミッティングアンプ8が接続されている。例えば、可変インダクタ回路に入力される高周波電圧の振幅が一定でない場合、gm素子3のgm値が変化してしまい、ZLからみたインダクタンス値が変動してしまう。これに対して、図12のようにリミッティングアンプ8を接続することで、gm素子3のgm値を一定に保つことができ、ZLからみたインダクタンス値も一定に保つことができる。
実施の形態2では、gm素子3に対しバッファ回路5を介して制御するようにしたが、バッファ回路5に代えてリミッティングアンプを用いてもよく、これを実施の形態3として説明する。図12は、実施の形態3の可変インダクタ回路の構成図である。
図12に示すように、図7に示した実施の形態2のバッファ回路5に代えてリミッティングアンプ8が接続されている。例えば、可変インダクタ回路に入力される高周波電圧の振幅が一定でない場合、gm素子3のgm値が変化してしまい、ZLからみたインダクタンス値が変動してしまう。これに対して、図12のようにリミッティングアンプ8を接続することで、gm素子3のgm値を一定に保つことができ、ZLからみたインダクタンス値も一定に保つことができる。
なお、実施の形態3においても、実施の形態2の図11に示した構成と同様に三つ以上のインダクタに対しても適用可能である。
以上説明したように、実施の形態3の可変インダクタ回路によれば、実施の形態2のバッファ回路に代えてリミッティングアンプとしたので、可変インダクタ回路に入力される高周波電圧の振幅が一定でない場合でも、可変インダクタ回路のインダクタンス値を一定に保つことができる。
なお、本願発明はその発明の範囲内において、各実施の形態の自由な組み合わせ、あるいは各実施の形態の任意の構成要素の変形、もしくは各実施の形態において任意の構成要素の省略が可能である。
以上のように、この発明に係る可変インダクタ回路は、電気的にインダクタンス値を調整するための構成に関するものであり、高周波回路の整合回路に用いるのに適している。

Claims (5)
- 互いに磁界結合した一方のインダクタ及び他方のインダクタと、
前記一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御する可変電流源とを備え、
前記可変電流源で前記一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御することで、前記他方のインダクタのインダクタンス値を可変とすることを特徴とする可変インダクタ回路。 - 互いに磁界結合した一方のインダクタ及び他方のインダクタと、
前記一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御するgm素子とを備え、
前記gm素子を、前記他方のインダクタの端子電圧で制御することにより、前記一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御し、前記他方のインダクタのインダクタンス値を可変とすることを特徴とする可変インダクタ回路。 - 互いに磁界結合した一方のインダクタ及び他方のインダクタと、
前記一方のインダクタに流れる電流を制御するカスコード増幅器と、
前記カスコード増幅器のエミッタ接地側トランジスタのコレクタ端子に接続された制御電流源とを備え、
前記他方のインダクタの端子から前記カスコード増幅器に対してバッファ回路を介して高周波電圧を印加すると共に、前記制御電流源の電流を変化させることで、前記カスコード増幅器を流れる電流を変化させ、前記他方のインダクタのインダクタンス値を可変とすることを特徴とする可変インダクタ回路。 - 前記バッファ回路に代えてリミッティングアンプとしたことを特徴とする請求項3記載の可変インダクタ回路。
- 前記一方のインダクタ及び前記他方のインダクタを含み、互いに磁界結合した三つ以上のインダクタを備え、
当該三つ以上のインダクタのうち、一つのインダクタ以外のインダクタに流れる電流を制御することで、前記一つのインダクタのインダクタンス値を可変とすることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項4のうちのいずれか1項記載の可変インダクタ回路。
