Abstract
下記の(A)成分を主成分とし、下記の(B)および(C)成分を含有する水系ホース用ゴム組成物とする。これにより、低温圧縮永久歪み性に優れるとともに、引張強度等の機械的強度を損なうことなく、薄肉で軽量の水系ホースを作製することができる。 (A)エチレン含有量が51~65重量%のエチレンプロピレンジエンゴム。 (B)融点が47~104℃のエチレン-オクテン樹脂。 (C)メルトフローレート(MFR)が0.14~40g/10分のポリエチレン。
Description
本発明は、自動車等の車両において、エンジンとラジエーターとの接続に用いられるラジエーターホース等の水系ホースに使用される水系ホース用ゴム組成物、およびそれを用いて得られる水系ホースに関するものである。
従来より、エンジンとラジエーターとの接続に用いられる、車両用のラジエーターホースの材料には、エチレンプロピレンジエンゴム(EPDM)等を主成分とし、これにカーボンブラック等の充填材を配合したゴム組成物が使用されている。
近年、ラジエーターホースのような車両部品においては、部品の軽量化により車両全体の軽量化を達成し、燃費改善を達成することが求められている。その一環として、ラジエーターホースの20%軽量化を達成することが目標とされ、(1)ゴム配合の低比重化、(2)ホースの厚みを従来の4.5mmから3.0mm程度に薄肉化する、等の手法により上記目標を達成することが検討されている。
ところで、本出願人は、エチレン-プロピレン系ゴムに、エチレン-オレフィン系樹脂を有機充填材として使用したゴムホース材料を提案している(特許文献1)。
このゴムホース材料は、ゴム本来の特性である伸びを損なうことなく、優れた機械的強度を得るために提案されたものであり、カーボンブラック等の充填材を増量して機械的強度を得ているわけではない。つまり、上記提案により、従来のようにカーボンブラック等の充填材を増量しなくとも、優れた機械的強度を得られることが見いだされている。
このゴムホース材料は、ゴム本来の特性である伸びを損なうことなく、優れた機械的強度を得るために提案されたものであり、カーボンブラック等の充填材を増量して機械的強度を得ているわけではない。つまり、上記提案により、従来のようにカーボンブラック等の充填材を増量しなくとも、優れた機械的強度を得られることが見いだされている。
しかしながら、上記(2)の、ホースの薄肉化を達成するには、通常のゴム配合よりも引張強度等の機械的強度をさらに向上させることが、ホースの形状保持性を確保するうえで要求される。このような課題を達成するには、たとえ特許文献1のように、エチレン-プロピレン系ゴムにエチレン-オレフィン系樹脂を有機充填材として使用した場合であっても、カーボンブラック等の充填材を増量する等して、引張強度等の機械的強度を高める必要がある。
また、上記の理由によりカーボンブラック等の充填材を増量すると、上記(1)の、ゴム配合の低比重化を達成することができず、ラジエーターホースの軽量化を達成することができないといった問題が再度浮上する。そのため、ゴムホース材料の軽量化と引張強度等の機械的強度とを両立させるには、現状の技術では限界があることから、未だ改善の余地がある。
また、ラジエーターホースのような水系ホースの用途においては、低温でのシール性が必要であることから低温圧縮永久歪み性が要求されるため、このことも検討する必要がある。
また、上記の理由によりカーボンブラック等の充填材を増量すると、上記(1)の、ゴム配合の低比重化を達成することができず、ラジエーターホースの軽量化を達成することができないといった問題が再度浮上する。そのため、ゴムホース材料の軽量化と引張強度等の機械的強度とを両立させるには、現状の技術では限界があることから、未だ改善の余地がある。
また、ラジエーターホースのような水系ホースの用途においては、低温でのシール性が必要であることから低温圧縮永久歪み性が要求されるため、このことも検討する必要がある。
本発明は、このような事情に鑑みなされたもので、低温圧縮永久歪み性に優れるとともに、引張強度等の機械的強度を損なうことなく、薄肉で軽量のホースを作製することができる、水系ホース用ゴム組成物およびそれを用いて得られる水系ホースを提供する。
本発明は、下記の(A)成分を主成分とし、下記の(B)および(C)成分を含有する水系ホース用ゴム組成物を第一の要旨とする。
(A)エチレン含有量が51~65重量%のエチレンプロピレンジエンゴム。
(B)融点が47~104℃のエチレン-オクテン樹脂。
(C)メルトフローレート(MFR)が0.14~40g/10分のポリエチレン。

また、本発明は、単層ないし複数の層からなる水系ホースであって、上記第一の要旨の水系ホース用ゴム組成物の架橋体からなる層を備えている水系ホースを第二の要旨とする。
すなわち、本発明者らは、前記課題を解決するため鋭意研究を重ねた。その研究の過程で、本発明者らは、エチレン含有量が51~65重量%のエチレンプロピレンジエンゴム(A)を主成分とし、融点が47~104℃のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)を含有する水系ホース用ゴム組成物とすることにより、低温圧縮永久歪み性、グリーン強度、引張強度等に優れるようになることを突き止めた。しかしながら、ホースの薄肉化(3.2mm程度)を実現するための高い機械的強度を得るには、上記のようにエチレンプロピレンジエンゴムおよびエチレン-オクテン樹脂の種類を特定するだけでは限界があった。従来では、上記の問題を解決するため、先に述べたようにカーボンブラック等の充填材の高配合により引張強度等を高めようとしていたが、この方法では、目標とする、ラジエーターホースの20%軽量化を達成することができないことから、本発明者らは、それ以外の方法で上記目標が達成できるよう各種実験を重ねた。その結果、上記特定のエチレンプロピレンジエンゴム(A)および特定のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)とともに、メルトフローレート(MFR)が0.14~40g/10分のポリエチレン(C)を配合したところ、低比重を維持したまま、薄肉であっても高い引張強度等を示すことができることを突き止め、その結果、所期の目的が達成できることを見いだした。
なお、上記のようになった理由は明らかではないが、次のように推察される。すなわち、上記特定のエチレンプロピレンジエンゴム(A)および特定のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)は、双方の相溶性が高く、その混合物はグリーン強度に優れるものの、結晶性に乏しい。しかしながら、上記混合物にMFRが0.14~40g/10分のポリエチレン(C)を配合すると、上記ポリエチレン(C)が、通常のポリエチレンに比べて上記特定のエチレンプロピレンジエンゴム(A)およびエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)の混合物に混ざりやすく、さらに上記ポリエチレン(C)が上記混合物に対して潤滑剤的に作用するとともに、上記ポリエチレン(C)が直鎖状で結晶性が高いことから、上記水系ホース用ゴム組成物を薄肉に成形しても、所望の引張強度が得られる結果につながったと推察される。
以上のように、本発明の水系ホース用ゴム組成物は、エチレン含有量が51~65重量%のエチレンプロピレンジエンゴム(A)を主成分とし、融点が47~104℃のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)、およびメルトフローレート(MFR)が0.14~40g/10分のポリエチレン(C)を含有する。そのため、低温圧縮永久歪み性に優れるとともに、引張強度等の機械的強度を損なうことなく、薄肉で軽量のホースを作製することができる。
特に、上記(B)成分を、上記(A)成分100重量部に対し1~20重量部の割合で含有すると、加工性を損なうことなく、より引張強度等の機械的強度に優れるようになる。
また、上記(C)成分を、上記(A)成分100重量部に対し1~20重量部の割合で含有すると、加工性を損なうことなく、より引張強度等の機械的強度に優れるようになる。
さらに、アロマ成分を有するオイル(D)を、上記(A)成分100重量部に対し5~100重量部の割合で含有すると、引張強度を高めつつ、加工性に優れるようになる。
また、カーボンブラック(E)を、上記(A)成分100重量部に対し30~150重量部の割合で含有すると、本発明の水系ホース用ゴム組成物およびそれを用いて得られる水系ホースの軽量化を阻害することなく、効果的に引張強度等の機械的強度を高めることができる。
そして、本発明の水系ホースは、単層ないし複数の層からなる水系ホースであって、上記水系ホース用ゴム組成物の架橋体からなる層を備えていることから、低温圧縮永久歪み性に優れるとともに、引張強度等の機械的強度を損なうことなく、薄肉で軽量のホースとすることができる。
特に、上記水系ホース用ゴム組成物の架橋体からなる層の厚みが2.5~4.0mmの範囲であると、引張強度等の機械的強度を損なうことなく、より薄肉で軽量のホースとすることができる。
そして、本発明の水系ホースは、上記のような作用効果を示すことから、ラジエーターホース、ヒーターホース、ドレーンホースとして、優れた性能を発揮することができる。
つぎに、本発明の実施の形態について詳しく説明する。ただし、本発明は、この実施の形態に限られるものではない。
本発明の水系ホース用ゴム組成物(以下、単に「ゴム組成物」という場合もある。)は、エチレン含有量が51~65重量%のエチレンプロピレンジエンゴム(EPDM)(A)を主成分とし、融点が47~104℃のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)、およびメルトフローレート(MFR)が0.14~40g/10分のポリエチレン(C)を含有するものである。ここで「主成分」とは、上記ゴム組成物としての特性に大きな影響を与える成分のことであり、本発明においては、上記ゴム組成物に含まれるポリマー全体の50重量%以上が、エチレン含有量が51~65重量%のEPDM(A)であるものを示す。
また、本発明の水系ホースは、単層ないし複数の層からなる水系ホースであって、上記ゴム組成物の架橋体からなる層を備えている。上記水系ホースは、例えば、図1に示すように、上記ゴム組成物の架橋体からなるゴム内層1と、補強糸層2と、上記ゴム組成物の架橋体からなるゴム外層3がこの順で積層された3層構造のホースや、上記ゴム組成物の架橋体からなるゴム層の単層構造のホース等があげられる。
また、本発明の水系ホースは、単層ないし複数の層からなる水系ホースであって、上記ゴム組成物の架橋体からなる層を備えている。上記水系ホースは、例えば、図1に示すように、上記ゴム組成物の架橋体からなるゴム内層1と、補強糸層2と、上記ゴム組成物の架橋体からなるゴム外層3がこの順で積層された3層構造のホースや、上記ゴム組成物の架橋体からなるゴム層の単層構造のホース等があげられる。
つぎに、上記ゴム組成物の各成分について説明する。
《エチレン含有量が51~65重量%のEPDM(A)》
本発明のゴム組成物に用いられるエチレンプロピレンジエンゴム(EPDM)は、エチレン、プロピレンとともに、ジエン系モノマー(第3成分)が共重合されたものであり、低温圧縮永久歪み性、グリーン強度、引張強度等の観点から、そのエチレン含有量が51~65重量%のものが用いられる。上記観点から、上記エチレン含有量は、好ましくは53~58重量%の範囲である。なお、上記ジエン系モノマーとしては、具体的には、1,4-ペンタジエン、1,4-ヘキサジエン、1,5-ヘキサジエン、2,5-ジメチル-1,5-ヘキサジエン、1,4-オクタジエン、1,4-シクロヘキサジエン、シクロオクタジエン、ジシクロペンタジエン(DCP)、5-エチリデン-2-ノルボルネン(ENB)、5-ブチリデン-2-ノルボルネン、2-メタリル-5-ノルボルネン、2-イソプロペニル-5-ノルボルネン等があげられる。これらジエン系モノマーのなかでも、5-エチリデン-2-ノルボルネン(ENB)が好ましい。
本発明のゴム組成物に用いられるエチレンプロピレンジエンゴム(EPDM)は、エチレン、プロピレンとともに、ジエン系モノマー(第3成分)が共重合されたものであり、低温圧縮永久歪み性、グリーン強度、引張強度等の観点から、そのエチレン含有量が51~65重量%のものが用いられる。上記観点から、上記エチレン含有量は、好ましくは53~58重量%の範囲である。なお、上記ジエン系モノマーとしては、具体的には、1,4-ペンタジエン、1,4-ヘキサジエン、1,5-ヘキサジエン、2,5-ジメチル-1,5-ヘキサジエン、1,4-オクタジエン、1,4-シクロヘキサジエン、シクロオクタジエン、ジシクロペンタジエン(DCP)、5-エチリデン-2-ノルボルネン(ENB)、5-ブチリデン-2-ノルボルネン、2-メタリル-5-ノルボルネン、2-イソプロペニル-5-ノルボルネン等があげられる。これらジエン系モノマーのなかでも、5-エチリデン-2-ノルボルネン(ENB)が好ましい。
《融点が47~104℃のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)》
本発明のゴム組成物に用いられるエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)には、エチレンと、オクテン-1とを共重合させたもの等であり、前記特定のEPDM(A)との相溶性や、引張強度等の機械的強度の観点から、その融点が47~104℃のものが用いられる。好ましくは、上記観点から、融点が79~102℃のエチレン-オクテン樹脂が用いられる。
本発明のゴム組成物に用いられるエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)には、エチレンと、オクテン-1とを共重合させたもの等であり、前記特定のEPDM(A)との相溶性や、引張強度等の機械的強度の観点から、その融点が47~104℃のものが用いられる。好ましくは、上記観点から、融点が79~102℃のエチレン-オクテン樹脂が用いられる。
そして、上記特定のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)の含有量は、前記特定のEPDM(A)100重量部に対して、1~20重量部の範囲が好ましく、特に好ましくは5~15重量部の範囲である。すなわち、上記特定のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)が少なすぎると、前記特定のEPDM(A)との絡み合いによる未加硫強度の向上効果や、引張強度等の機械的強度の向上効果等が乏しく、逆に上記特定のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)が多すぎると、加工性が悪化する傾向がみられるからである。
《MFRが0.14~40g/10分のポリエチレン(C)》
本発明のゴム組成物に用いられるポリエチレン(C)には、前記特定のEPDM(A)および特定のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)と混ざりやすく、薄肉のホースを製造しても優れた引張強度等が得られるようになる観点から、メルトフローレート(MFR)が0.14~40g/10分のものが用いられる。好ましくは、上記観点から、MFRが5~20g/10分のポリエチレンが用いられる。
本発明のゴム組成物に用いられるポリエチレン(C)には、前記特定のEPDM(A)および特定のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)と混ざりやすく、薄肉のホースを製造しても優れた引張強度等が得られるようになる観点から、メルトフローレート(MFR)が0.14~40g/10分のものが用いられる。好ましくは、上記観点から、MFRが5~20g/10分のポリエチレンが用いられる。
なお、上記メルトフローレート(MFR)は、JIS K 7210に準拠して測定されるものであり、本発明においては、断りのない限り、温度190℃、荷重2.16kgにおけるメルトフローレート(MFR)を意味する。メルトフローレート(MFR)は、メルトインデックスと同義である。
そして、上記特定のポリエチレン(C)の含有量は、前記特定のEPDM(A)100重量部に対して、1~20重量部の範囲が好ましく、特に好ましくは5~10重量部の範囲である。すなわち、上記特定のポリエチレン(C)が少なすぎると、所望の引張強度等の機械的強度が得られず、逆に上記特定のポリエチレン(C)が多すぎると、加工性が悪化する傾向がみられるからである。
《充填材》
なお、本発明のゴム組成物には、前記特定のEPDM(A)、前記特定のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)、および前記特定のポリエチレン(C)に加えて、必要に応じ、カーボンブラック、炭酸カルシウム、タルク等の充填材を、単独でもしくは二種以上併せて配合してもよいが、本発明においては、薄肉で軽量のホースを作製する観点から、その配合量を抑える必要がある。そのため、引張強度等の機械的強度が充分に得られているのであれば、本発明のゴム組成物中に上記充填材を配合しないことが望ましい。
なお、本発明のゴム組成物には、前記特定のEPDM(A)、前記特定のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)、および前記特定のポリエチレン(C)に加えて、必要に応じ、カーボンブラック、炭酸カルシウム、タルク等の充填材を、単独でもしくは二種以上併せて配合してもよいが、本発明においては、薄肉で軽量のホースを作製する観点から、その配合量を抑える必要がある。そのため、引張強度等の機械的強度が充分に得られているのであれば、本発明のゴム組成物中に上記充填材を配合しないことが望ましい。
上記充填材を配合するのであれば、なかでも、効果的に引張強度等の機械的強度を高めることができることから、カーボンブラックが好ましい。そして、本発明のゴム組成物中にカーボンブラックを配合する場合は、前記特定のEPDM(A)100重量部に対し30~150重量部の割合で含有することが好ましく、より好ましくは50~100重量部の範囲である。すなわち、このような割合でカーボンブラックを配合すると、本発明のゴム組成物およびそれを用いて得られる水系ホースの軽量化を阻害することなく、効果的に引張強度等の機械的強度を高めることができるからである。
また、本発明のゴム組成物には、前記特定のEPDM(A)、前記特定のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)、および前記特定のポリエチレン(C)に加えて、加硫剤、加硫促進剤、加硫助剤、プロセスオイル、共架橋剤、老化防止剤、増粘剤等を、必要に応じて適宜に配合しても差し支えない。これらは単独でもしくは二種以上併せて用いられる。
《加硫剤》
上記加硫剤としては、例えば、硫黄、過酸化物加硫剤(パーオキサイド加硫剤)等が、単独でもしくは併用される。このなかでも、貯蔵安定性、コストの点で、硫黄が好ましい。

上記加硫剤として硫黄を使用する場合、その含有量は、前記特定のEPDM(A)100重量部に対して、0.3~15.0重量部の範囲が好まし、特に好ましくは0.5~1.5重量部の範囲である。また、上記加硫剤として過酸化物加硫剤を使用する場合、その含有量は、前記特定のEPDM(A)100重量部に対して、1.5~20.0重量部の範囲が好ましく、特に好ましくは5~10重量部の範囲である。すなわち、加硫剤の含有量が少なすぎると、加硫が不充分で、ホースの強度に劣り、逆に加硫剤の含有量が多すぎると、硬くなりすぎ、ホースの柔軟性に劣る傾向がみられる他、スコーチタイムが短くなり、加工性が悪化する傾向がみられるからである。
《加硫促進剤》
上記加硫促進剤としては、例えば、チアゾール系,スルフェンアミド系,チウラム系,アルデヒドアンモニア系,アルデヒドアミン系,グアニジン系,チオウレア系等の加硫促進剤があげられる。これらは単独でもしくは二種以上併せて用いられる。これらのなかでも、加硫反応性に優れる点で、スルフェンアミド系加硫促進剤が好ましい。
上記加硫促進剤としては、例えば、チアゾール系,スルフェンアミド系,チウラム系,アルデヒドアンモニア系,アルデヒドアミン系,グアニジン系,チオウレア系等の加硫促進剤があげられる。これらは単独でもしくは二種以上併せて用いられる。これらのなかでも、加硫反応性に優れる点で、スルフェンアミド系加硫促進剤が好ましい。
上記加硫促進剤の含有量は、前記特定のEPDM(A)100重量部に対して、0.1~10.0重量部の範囲が好ましく、特に好ましくは0.5~6.0重量部の範囲である。
上記チアゾール系加硫促進剤としては、例えば、ジベンゾチアジルジスルフィド(DM)、2-メルカプトベンゾチアゾール(M)、2-メルカプトベンゾチアゾールナトリウム塩(NaMBT)、2-メルカプトベンゾチアゾール亜鉛塩(ZnMBT)等があげられる。これらは単独でもしくは二種以上併せて用いられる。これらのなかでも、加硫反応性に優れる点で、ジベンゾチアジルジスルフィド(DM)、2-メルカプトベンゾチアゾール(M)が好ましい。
上記スルフェンアミド系加硫促進剤としては、例えば、N-オキシジエチレン-2-ベンゾチアゾリルスルフェンアミド(NOBS)、N-シクロヘキシル-2-ベンゾチアゾリルスルフェンアミド(CM)、N-t-ブチル-2-ベンゾチアゾイルスルフェンアミド(BBS)、N,N'-ジシクロヘキシル-2-ベンゾチアゾイルスルフェンアミド等があげられる。これらは単独でもしくは二種以上併せて用いられる。
上記チウラム系加硫促進剤としては、例えば、テトラメチルチウラムジスルフィド(TT)、テトラエチルチウラムジスルフィド(TET)、テトラブチルチウラムジスルフィド(TBTD)、テトラキス(2-エチルヘキシル)チウラムジスルフィド(TOT)、テトラベンジルチウラムジスルフィド(TBZTD)等があげられる。これらは単独でもしくは二種以上併せて用いられる。
《加硫助剤》
上記加硫助剤としては、例えば、亜鉛華(ZnO)、ステアリン酸、酸化マグネシウム等があげられる。これらは単独でもしくは二種以上併せて用いられる。

上記加硫助剤の含有量は、前記特定のEPDM(A)100重量部に対して、1~25重量部の範囲が好ましく、特に好ましくは3~10重量部の範囲である。
《プロセスオイル》
上記プロセスオイルとしては、例えば、ナフテン系オイル、パラフィン系オイル、アロマ系オイル等があげられる。これらは単独でもしくは二種以上併せて用いられる。なかでも、引張強度、加工性に優れる点で、アロマ系オイル(アロマ成分を有するオイル)が好ましい。
上記プロセスオイルとしては、例えば、ナフテン系オイル、パラフィン系オイル、アロマ系オイル等があげられる。これらは単独でもしくは二種以上併せて用いられる。なかでも、引張強度、加工性に優れる点で、アロマ系オイル(アロマ成分を有するオイル)が好ましい。
上記アロマ系オイル(アロマ成分を有するオイル)の含有量は、引張強度を高めつつ、加工性に優れるようになる観点から、前記特定のEPDM(A)100重量部に対して、5~100重量部の範囲が好ましく、より好ましくは20~90重量部の範囲、さらに好ましくは40~60重量部の範囲である。
《共架橋剤》
上記共架橋剤としては、例えば、ジビニルベンゼン、トリアリルイソシアヌレート(TAIC)が好適に用いられ、これらとともに、トリアリルシアヌレート、ダイアセトンジアクリルアミド、ポリエチレングリコールジアクリレート、ポリエチレングリコールジメタクリレート、トリメチロールプロパントリメタクリレート、トリメチロールプロパントリアクリレート、エチレングリコールジメタクリレート、トリエチレングリコールジメタクリレート、ジエチレングリコールジメタクリレート、ジイソプロペニルベンゼン、p-キノンジオキシム、p,p-ジベンゾイルキノンジオキシム、フェニルマレイミド、アリルメタクリレート、N,N-m-フェニレンビスマレイミド、ジアリルフタレート、テトラアリルオキシエタン、1,2-ポリブタジエン等があげられる。これらは単独でもしくは二種以上併せて用いられる。

《老化防止剤》
上記老化防止剤としては、例えば、カルバメート系,フェニレンジアミン系,フェノール系,ジフェニルアミン系,キノリン系等の老化防止剤や、ワックス類等があげられる。これらは単独でもしくは二種以上併せて用いられる。

上記老化防止剤の含有量は、前記特定のEPDM(A)100重量部に対して、0.2~2.0重量部の範囲が好ましく、特に好ましくは0.5~1.0重量部の範囲である。
本発明のゴム組成物は、例えば、前記特定のEPDM(A)、前記特定のエチレン-オクテン樹脂(B)、および前記特定のポリエチレン(C)を配合するとともに、必要に応じて、アロマ系オイル(D)、カーボンブラック(E)等の充填材、加硫剤、プロセスオイル、加硫促進剤等を配合し、これらをニーダー,バンバリーミキサー,ロール等の混練機を用いて混練することにより、調製することができる。
本発明の水系ホースは、上記のようにして調製されたゴム組成物を用い、例えば、つぎのようにして作製することができる。すなわち、上記のようにして調製したゴム組成物を押し出し成形して、未加硫ホースを作製する。なお、ストレート形状のマンドル上にゴム組成物を押し出し成形して、未加硫ホースを作製することも可能である。
また、図1のホースのように、ゴム内層1とゴム外層3との間に補強糸層2を設けるような層構成とする場合、上記ゴム組成物の未加硫ホースの外周面に対して、所定の引揃数および打込数で、補強糸をブレード編み等して補強糸層2を形成し、その後、必要に応じ、接着剤を、ディッピング法,スプレー法,ロールコート法,刷毛塗り等の方法により上記補強糸層2上に塗工し、その塗工面の上(ないし補強糸層2上)に、上記ゴム組成物を押出成形し、未加硫のゴム層を形成する。
このようにして得られた未加硫状態のホース(ないしホース構造体)に、マンドレルを内挿し、所定の条件(140~160℃×30~60分)で加硫した後、マンドルを引き抜くことにより、目的とする水系ホースを作製することができる。なお、上記マンドレルに所定の曲がり管形状を有するものを使用することにより、上記水系ホースを所望の曲がり管形状に形成することもできる。
また、図1のホースのように、ゴム内層1とゴム外層3との間に補強糸層2を設けるような層構成とする場合、上記ゴム組成物の未加硫ホースの外周面に対して、所定の引揃数および打込数で、補強糸をブレード編み等して補強糸層2を形成し、その後、必要に応じ、接着剤を、ディッピング法,スプレー法,ロールコート法,刷毛塗り等の方法により上記補強糸層2上に塗工し、その塗工面の上(ないし補強糸層2上)に、上記ゴム組成物を押出成形し、未加硫のゴム層を形成する。
このようにして得られた未加硫状態のホース(ないしホース構造体)に、マンドレルを内挿し、所定の条件(140~160℃×30~60分)で加硫した後、マンドルを引き抜くことにより、目的とする水系ホースを作製することができる。なお、上記マンドレルに所定の曲がり管形状を有するものを使用することにより、上記水系ホースを所望の曲がり管形状に形成することもできる。
このようにして得られる本発明の水系ホースは、上記ゴム組成物の架橋体からなる層を備えていることから、低温圧縮永久歪み性に優れるとともに、引張強度等の機械的強度を損なうことなく、薄肉で軽量のホースとすることができる。上記水系ホースの内径は、7.5~45mmの範囲であることが好ましい。また、上記水系ホースは、従来の厚肉(厚み5mm程度)ホースに比べて薄肉であることが特徴であり、厚みは2.5~4.0mmの範囲が好ましく、特に好ましくは3.0~3.2mmの範囲である。すなわち、このような厚みにすると、引張強度等の機械的強度を損なうことなく、より薄肉で軽量のホースとすることができるからである。
そして、本発明の水系ホースは、上記のような作用効果を示すことから、ラジエーターホース、ヒーターホース、ドレーンホース等の水系ホースとして、優れた性能を発揮することができる。なお、図1に示す水系ホースにおいて、本発明のゴム組成物は、ゴム内層1およびゴム外層3のいずれにも使用することができるが、いずれか一方に使用してもよい。
つぎに、実施例について比較例と併せて説明する。ただし、本発明はこれら実施例に限定されるものではない。
まず、実施例および比較例に先立ち、下記に示す材料を準備した。

EPDM、エチレンオクテン(エチレン-オクテン樹脂)、ポリエチレンとして、後記の表1および表2に示す種類のものを、後記の表1および表2に示す割合で配合し、さらに、ルナックS-70V(花王社製)1重量部と、酸化亜鉛2種(三井金属鉱業社製)3重量部と、シーストG116HM(東海カーボン社製)70重量部と、サンパー2280(日本サン石油社製)50重量部と、サンセラーTET-G(三新化学工業社製)1重量部と、サンセラーCZ-G(三新化学工業社製)1重量部と、ノクセラーDM-P(大内新興化学工業社製)1重量部と、ノクセラーTRA(大内新興化学工業社製)1重量部と、サルファックスT-10(鶴見化学工業社製)1重量部とを配合し、バンバリーミキサーおよびロールを用いて混練して、ゴム組成物を調製した。

このようにして得られた実施例および比較例のゴム組成物を用いて、下記の基準に従い、各特性の評価を行った。これらの結果を、後記の表1および表2に併せて示した。
〔比重〕
各ゴム組成物の比重を、JIS K 6220に準じて測定した。
評価は、比重が1.12以下であれば、低比重であり、ラジエーターホースを軽量化することができるものと判断する。

〔低温圧縮永久歪〕
各ゴム組成物を160℃で20分間プレス加硫して、厚み12.5mmの加硫ゴムシートを作製した。ついで、この加硫ゴムシートについて、JIS K 6262に準拠した低温での圧縮永久歪み試験を行った。すなわち、加硫ゴムシートを圧縮率25%で圧縮し、その状態で-25℃環境下に24時間放置した後、上記圧縮を解放し、室温(25℃)下で30分経過した後の加硫ゴムシートの厚みを測定して、圧縮永久歪み(%)を算出し、その値で、下記の基準で低温圧縮永久歪み性を評価した。

各ゴム組成物を160℃で20分間プレス加硫して、厚み12.5mmの加硫ゴムシートを作製した。ついで、この加硫ゴムシートについて、JIS K 6262に準拠した低温での圧縮永久歪み試験を行った。すなわち、加硫ゴムシートを圧縮率25%で圧縮し、その状態で-25℃環境下に24時間放置した後、上記圧縮を解放し、室温(25℃)下で30分経過した後の加硫ゴムシートの厚みを測定して、圧縮永久歪み(%)を算出し、その値で、下記の基準で低温圧縮永久歪み性を評価した。

上記表の結果より、実施例のゴム組成物は、いずれも、比重が小さく、引張強度、低温圧縮永久歪み特性が良好であることから、目的とする、薄肉で軽量のホースを製造するための材料として良好であると判断される。
これに対して、比較例1のゴム組成物は、使用するEPDMのエチレン含有量が多過ぎ、低温圧縮永久歪み特性に劣る結果となり、比較例2のゴム組成物は、使用するEPDMのエチレン含有量が少な過ぎ、引張強度に劣る結果となった。比較例3のゴム組成物は、使用するエチレン-オクテン樹脂の融点が低過ぎ、引張強度に劣る結果となり、比較例4のゴム組成物は、使用するエチレン-オクテン樹脂の融点が高過ぎ、同様に引張強度に劣る結果となった。比較例5のゴム組成物は、使用するポリエチレンのMFRが高過ぎ、加工性に劣る結果となった。そのため、比較例5では、各特性を測定・評価することができなかった。比較例6のゴム組成物は、使用するポリエチレンのMFRが低過ぎ、引張強度に劣る結果となった。比較例7のゴム組成物は、エチレン-オクテン樹脂を含有しておらず、引張強度に劣る結果となった。
なお、上記実施例においては、本発明における具体的な形態について示したが、上記実施例は単なる例示にすぎず、限定的に解釈されるものではない。当業者に明らかな様々な変形は、本発明の範囲内であることが企図されている。
本発明の水系ホース用ゴム組成物は、例えば、ラジエーターホース、ヒーターホース、ドレーンホース等の水系ホース用のゴム組成物として使用することができる。そして、上記水系ホースは、自動車用のみならず、その他の輸送機械(飛行機,フォークリフト,ショベルカー,クレーン等の産業用輸送車両、鉄道車両等)や自動販売機等にも好ましく用いられる。

Claims (8)
- 下記の(A)成分を主成分とし、下記の(B)および(C)成分を含有することを特徴とする水系ホース用ゴム組成物。
(A)エチレン含有量が51~65重量%のエチレンプロピレンジエンゴム。
(B)融点が47~104℃のエチレン-オクテン樹脂。
(C)メルトフローレートが0.14~40g/10分のポリエチレン。 - 上記(B)成分を、上記(A)成分100重量部に対し1~20重量部の割合で含有する、請求項1記載の水系ホース用ゴム組成物。
- 上記(C)成分を、上記(A)成分100重量部に対し1~20重量部の割合で含有する、請求項1または2記載の水系ホース用ゴム組成物。
- さらに、下記の(D)成分を、上記(A)成分100重量部に対し5~100重量部の割合で含有する、請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の水系ホース用ゴム組成物。
(D)アロマ成分を有するオイル。 - さらに、下記の(E)成分を、上記(A)成分100重量部に対し30~150重量部の割合で含有する、請求項1~4のいずれか一項に記載の水系ホース用ゴム組成物。
(E)カーボンブラック。 - 単層ないし複数の層からなる水系ホースであって、請求項1~5のいずれか一項に記載の水系ホース用ゴム組成物の架橋体からなる層を備えていることを特徴とする水系ホース。
- 上記水系ホース用ゴム組成物の架橋体からなる層の厚みが2.5~4.0mmの範囲である、請求項6記載の水系ホース。
- 上記水系ホースが、ラジエーターホース、ヒーターホースまたはドレーンホースである請求項6または7記載の水系ホース。
